If you look at the date this was added, it says October, 2008. This guy was obviously wrong about it being TRON 2. Though, it is the second TRON movie ever made. This is the trailer for TRON: Legacy.

@Rousland1 no, it's a continuation of the first. this trailer was based on the fact that, first, the second film, of course, still featured a light-cycle battle, and second, because said light-cycle battle was one of the most iconic cinematic sequences for the last 30 years - and the second people saw it, well.....just listen to the crowd's reaction.

@brb1994 You need to take it in context. Someone covertly used a cel phone to capture this as it was a secret prior to the reveal. There were rumors that Disney was considering a TRON sequel but nothing official. At the 2008 Comic-Con some Disney reps were giving a presentation and mentioned that they completed a VFX test and wanted to show it off. NO ONE had any idea of what it was, so when the character generated the light-cycle the crowd went NUTS. Disney changed the name to Legacy later

yup concept trailer, i guess to test everything, the entire concept and how it would look, pretty interesting, esp with the higher res one you can see how the bikes look different from the final which are far more refined and sleek. its interesting to see behind the scenes, they do this kinda thing for other films as wel, matrix, 300 had test footage, but i'm not sure they showed them off for press.

Pretty much none of this footage exists in the real film but it served as a conceptual driver for where they wanted to take the film - as you can see it was pretty successful :-)

man I was at this at comic-con 08.. between panels, room went totally dark, no announcement or anything, and they just started playing this. then they just ended the footage and brought the lights back up and that was it. perfect way to show a teaser, imo! can't believe it's been 2 yrs!

this entire scene was not even in the movie. TRON: Legacy was not even in production when this trailer was shown first at Comic Con in 2008. This was only a test to see if people would want to see it

Second this was just to entice, as teasers do, and this could have been happening sometime "before" the events of the movie, it is just an enticer...not a trailer for the movie. This scene never took place in TRON 2 in the theatre.

Actually, you're kinda both wrong. This is just test footage, not an actual teaser (just for the fact that it's too long to be a teaser). The movie wasn't even green lit while this was shown. They just wanted to show people that they could get enough reaction and hype to get an audience to see this film.

I absolutely love this version of the trailer. I love the roar of the crowd as the lightcycle draws its way into existence, the awesome reaction to Jeff Bridge's eyes and the final reveal of the title with the '2' in place of the 'O' (almost wish they would've left in there but maybe they have bigger plans for the future that goes beyond mere numbers).

When Samuel L. Jackson appears, cheers...when he introduces himself as Nick Fury, director of S.H.I.E.L.D., more cheers...when he refers to the "Avenger Initiative", the crowd went NUTS.

Lighten up people. I remember seeing the original at the theaters. I will see T2. Compare and contrast all you want. There is a place for analog and a place for digital. Melding them together to coexist is the key. The audiences response pays homage to the veteran actor. It is common practice to do this with vintage classics.

TRON used CGI 28{!} years ago when Internet and MMOs were alien jargon words and only for that we need to respect the title. I saw TRON back in 1982 as a child which emerged myself into this deep cyberpunk Universe and the video game {sub}culture. I only share some thoughts of a few viewers in here who wish that TRON LEGACY will not disappoint us. I will support Disney's effort to resurrect TRON's Universe because TRON was this one title which introduced us the amazing labyrinth of video games.
