This is true! I have to walk to Uffculme from Ashill everyday to get to the shops and to school with my cousin. I was at home one day with my cousin when we saw some fireworks in Uffculme and thought it was a giant display, so we took the dogs and went for a walk to see them....well, it definetly wasn't a show! And it scared us to death! But we are alive :P
they ought to bury firework fatories underground so at least if they do explode the surrounding area i well protected and the and the damage cost l be lowered and escape routes for the factory that are well away from the powder storage and manufacturing stations.
why do people have to use gutter talk it just shows you up for what you must be and thats a very poorly educated person so light touch paper and STAND CLEAR
The Uffculme event was a fireworks STORAGE facility. They do not MAKE fireworks.
Secondly, c0lumbo states that the fire was caused by a faulty "detonator". Detonators are only used to trigger a chain reaction in hi-explosives and are more properly known as Blasting Caps. The word c0lumbo is looking for is 'electric ignighter'. This sounds horribly pedantic but when people get the truth mixed with their own truth, missinformation results and things get blown up out of proportion. END
Firstly, there are very very very few actual plants still making fireworks in the uk. Kimbolton in Cambridge who now only make small items and the odd shell. And two or three small factories making non-explosive devices, like Portfires (hand held devices used to ignight fireworks in a manualy fired display) and indoor effects. There is one place I know of who make Thunderflash's for paint balling. They use flash powder making them the most dangerous in the event of a factory fire.
IRISHokid, some brits are absolute wankers most of us looked in horror about 9/11! Saying god kill the queen is the lowest of the lows you fucking fat twat!
lol I've never seen a single British person make fun of 9/11. Ever. To even think we'd say something like that is disgusting and you should be ashamed to stereotype us Brits just by a few retarded Youtube comments.
We dont make fun of 9/11. You dont even know what the trade centre buildings were. there were people from countless nations in there, even from England i suspect, though im not sure.
You disgust me with your ignorence and vulgarity and you are the shame of your nation.
I remember this so clearly - i was at the high school when it happened and in one of the art rooms! The windows shook and the mirror tipped threatening to fall right over and smash into pieces! I also remember we all ran outside to see the huge plume of smoke with fireworks whizzing up in the foreground! Amazing that all the workers got out really!
I CAN'T BELIEVE I LIVE IN THIS VILLAGE! I LIVE IN UFFCULME! my friends dad heard it from Tiverton! I was hiding underneath my dining room table when it happened u know!
emoguylover101 that is a horrible thing to say. I bet you'd be proper scared. Think of all those poor people in there, they're extremely lucky to get out alive. Do you enjoy seeing people suffer?
Yeah, fireworks don't use gunpowder. Gunpowder is nitrocellulose based, fireworks use black powder-- but often various other, less dangerous chemicals.
Technically they aren't explosives either. They are deflagrating, not exploding-- Confined deflagration produces an explosion. Look at dry ice in a water bottle.
This guy Chris Hutchinson came to our secondary school (Tiverton High School) to give a speech on careers on our last day (3 years after this fecker blew up)! He even used some handheld fireworks to make a lame point about gold being better than silver (despite the fact that the gold firework he was holding looked crap against the bright silver one). So yea, Good role model eh...(!)
A very quick-thinking employee saw the spark and was able to shout "Run!!" very loudly so everyone had a chance to get out alive.
I know this because that man happens to be my father-in-law, who had probably saved a few lives that day. One of the burned-out cars in the video was his.
It later discovered that it was actually a spark from a faulty detonator that caused the explosion.
So don't go calling people retards when you don't know all the facts.

As far as I can tell from seeing footage the one in Denmark was indeed bigger although Enschede was massive as well!
Anyhow, this ain't a competition. Exploding firework factories are never funny! I hate i when that happens cause it gives a bad name to fireworks :(
