MR's may be 10X the price, but, up close, you see where most of the money went. All that metal makes the prop. Diamond's looks and feels like a toy, what with all that silver plastic.
Diamond's could've been expontentially better for, like, two-dollars worth of aluminum.
@openmcc i think its a good tricorder metels not every thing i have had some with metel thats not as good as these i wish they had been here when i was a kid iam 50 now and i finely have a tricorder maybe play mates brand of comunicators are good too
Good video but not show the "diamond" Tricorder with it's spinning morie effetct. The major problem with the "diamond" unit is the cheap display feature - this can be helped or 100% corrected if you are skilled with model work or fabrication - and what a new look this gives to it! If done right from a distance it's hard to tell the MR from Diamond...
Great video! I have the diamond select and always wondered what the comparison was with MR. Thanks to this video I know that I made the right choice. MR is 10 times the price but not 10 times better. I prefer DS because it allows me to buy 10 times more props for the same money.

Here's where a Trek fan makes an important decision. An affordable, respectfully accurate model-or an expensive, stunningly accurate model. People like myself will purchase the entry level model, and then re-paint and modify to our own tastes. But alas, there's only one Master Replicas! Anybody I know who has purchased one, voices no regrets. I like to add to and take away within my budget. But I lovingly long for the best at the same time. Either way, there are two winners here.
I like that the display graphics, which you never saw in the original episodes, have a 60's look as well.
