According to them, any two people should be allowed to get married. Alright, so does that mean adults should be able to marry children? What about children marrying each other? What about incest marriage?
Canadians seem so civilized (for the most part); I think I live in the exact opposite of civilization, Central Florida. Maybe when I retire I'll move to Vancouver.
The people in the vid are fucking idiots. you want gay marriage because you say marriage should be a "right" to all, and then you trn around and say incest marriage is weird. What the hell did I miss? You're fighting for equality, but also denying equality to others. that's why I think gay-marriage supporters are the most parallel thinkers and can't think logical to save "humanity", no pun intended. America was best before this equality shit hit. America was the head of the world, until.......
Just let anyone marry anyone, fuck it. If marriage exists and is to benefit the people getting married then it should be to the tastes of the people involved, too.
Some marriages may seem weirder than others but at the end of the day, if anyone is stupid enough to spend the rest of their life with only one person then they should crack the fuck on.
I should say that I don't care if gay people are in relationships and have legal rights because they are really close to the person they are with. Marriage is a whole other ball of wax though. I think marriage should be removed from the legal system because it's none of the government's business who I want to be with.
"Marriage is a whole other ball of wax though. I think marriage should be removed from the legal system because it's none of the government's business who I want to be with."
That makes no sense- you say marriage should be removed because YOU as one guy, have a problem. If you don't like marriage- DONT GET MARRIED gay or straight. it's really that simple.
Biggest question - how does anyone else's straight / gay / incestuous / polygamous relationship affect my own relationship on a day to day basis - not very much at all.
If you don't like straight/gay/inces/poly marriage - then simply don't have one!
Personally I have a trad view on marriage being between two adults - but I can't think of a logical argument to exclude the above mentioned marriages...so if I were a lawmaker I could not support laws against these types of marriages
@blkjock81 I think the idea why people want to end relationships that are not between a man and a women is because those relationships weaken the relationships between a man and a woman. You are not enclosed in a psychological bubble where you are devoid from influence. Check out systems theory.
@DoesNotApply It (same sex relationships) do not weaken any other relationship. One type of relationship cannot be lowered for the sake of another. This type of discrimination leads to second class citizenship and it's not acceptable.
@DoesNotApply congrats on your nomination for the "get over yourself" award. If the basis of your arugments is that one type of relationship is inferior to another then we got nothing to talk about.
@blkjock81 Your comment were two things that had nothing to do with each other. "Get over myself" What? Notice that you're the only one said anything about inferior.
@DoesNotApply your comments about SSRs weaken DSRs, and then mentioning counterfeit money weakening the economy implies that you feel same-sex relationships are analagous to counterfeit, and are inferior. Yes tell that to a couple that has been together 20+ years and I am sure they can tell you where to shove it. Seriously!
"@blkjock81 Yea and having counterfeit money in the economy doesn't weak it either."
Quit giving these realy weak conservative replys. You just equated gay marriage with counterfeit money...aka fake. You made no ratinal argument about how a gay marriage would be any less real than a straight marriage.
and you have not answered the question if you are a Christian or not. Given the irrational behavior and logic of those conservatives you need to be honest about this.
"I think the idea why people want to end relationships that are not between a man and a women is because those relationships weaken the relationships between a man and a woman."
What you "think" is not remotely true. Let me ask you...of all the gay people you know or have heard of...did THEY make you desire women or your relation any less?
"Check out systems theory"
Are you married? cause your logic dictates you will suddenly not desire your wife cause of gay relationships.
"I think the idea why people want to end relationships that are not between a man and a women is because those relationships weaken the relationships between a man and a woman"
Well I KNOW the real reasn and bulk of conservative opposition comes from bullshit religion. They often pretend to be "concerned" about straight marriages, families, birth rates, etc...
Funny how NONE of those concerns happened in Canada, Holland, Spain, etc.
a man/ woman, woman/ woman or man/man can ALL fill out a marriage certificate, pay taxes, vote, be born as or apply for US citizenship. Show me a dog, horse, etc. that can do any of those things...or even communicate wedding vows.
Deceptive Christians should stop these childish scare tactics.
@hipstermi Now you have to be able to write to get married? Isn't that discrimination against the illiterate? What about the taxes? Disabled people cannot work, should they not be able to get married?
"Now you have to be able to write to get married?"
This is you doing typical Christian trick playing "pretend to not get it". illiterate people CAN still fill out marriage certificates, and you probably know this.
"Isn't that discrimination against the illiterate"
You need to admit to being conservative wrong on this one since my explanation made you look kind of stupid.
Direct generic offspring and inbreeding can lead to disability.
If the attraction is there, as uncomfortable as the thought makes me, personally. It's there. Homosexual marriage, interracial marriage is all well and good. But incestuous practice is a hindrance on our development, scientifically. After all, survival has become about development now.
@tgtk Interesting stance. Would you then argue that couples whose children have a good chance of developing genetic disabilities should be legally prohibited from getting married? (this would include but not be limited to those with down syndrome who love eachother).
It should be noted that incestuous relationships do not necessarily lead to offspring with genetic disabilities.
@c38themovie Actually, you've pointed out that my argument isn't very well thought out. I'm not sure how we're debating incest in comparison to homosexuality. I thought everyone felt incest was just, strange. I'll definitely say that it makes me uncomfortable. Homosexuality, interracial couples or any other of these issues don't. Incestuous relationships are wrong though, surely?
@tgtk When the marriage debate in Canada was at its peak in 2005, nobody thought that incestuous relationships or even polygamous ones would be challenged. In Europe, laws regarding incest are being reconsidered, as in the case of two siblings who grew up separately but later fell in love. The husband has been imprisoned, according to Germany's laws, and has been prohibited from visiting his children.
At the time of Trudeau most Canadians also thought that gay relationships were wrong.
@c38themovie I think then, all things considered. Love is love. It can't be helped. who are we to enforce a ban or illegality on any of it? Cheers for the info!
@tgtk Actually the idea that inbreeding raises the rates of retardation is a myth. It's continuous inbreeding within a population that will bring about the phenotypic expression of recessive genes over a long period of time. Just like how if a whole community were gay it would be detrimental to that community because of no births. Same with inbreeding.
@tgtk Woah, don't tell me you're an idiot too. Haha. First of all homosexual marriage and interracial marriage aren't related in any way. Secondly, we know heterosexual couples are right/natural because they can reproduce. Therefore if we best what is right and natural off of reproduction, then homosexuality is wrong. Thirdly,How can you say incest is a hindrance, but say homosexuality which can't even reproduce is not? I don't see. They both are a hindrance, one=retards and the other=less of us.
@circablonk I wrote this a while ago. Now I take the stance of separation. I mean that I don't think I have any right to tell anyone who they should be attracted to. I feel that any form of attraction is that of the beholders and the lines are too blurry to be placing laws on it all. Reproduction is not the sole purpose of attraction. The fact that people are attracted to the same sex proves this. All these laws are created and undone in the pursuit of understanding attraction.
Hmm...in this video, the arguement is 2 consenting adults should be permitted to marry. Yet, if it's a consenting brother and sister who are adults, that's not ok. Why? Who drew that line?
Also, the bc civil liberties association are asking to strike down the anti-polygamy laws using the same sex marriage arguement. As long as everyone is a consenting adult, then it's ok. Google bc civil liberties association polygamy. Again, if one opposes this, then why?
Most real anarchist collectivists lefts actually don't get married. They just "do it and drop it". Its not about equal rights. Its about trying to legitimize unnatural deviant sexual behavior. 20 somethings are sooooo stupid these days>
@raikodu Everything is forbidden in the holy books..Oiy. Women rights. Sexual pleasure, for it is to be solely for reproduction purposes only. Premarital sex. Interracial relationships. Eating shellfish and pork etc. Cutting your hair. The list goes on and on and on...
Yes, what two consenting adults choose to do with there own private lives is THEIR Business, the public should have NO RIGHT to tell someone what they should or shouldn't be able to do with their own privates lives especially when those lives have no effect on anyone else's lives.
Sounds logical... let me then pose the question - what if a nation (e.g. the Netherlands) were to give children the right to make legal decisions without parental consent? Since they would have equality under the law, should children be allowed to enter into consensual relationships with adults?
Thats a really interesting point. I think that part of being allowed to marry should be being aware of consequences and being responsible for them, entering that social contract, which would mean an age limit. Likewise, I dont think that mentally retarded people who do not have a meaningful understanding of what marriage is shouldnt be able to do it.
I would be against animal-human marriages simply because the animals cannot have this meaningful understanding which i feel necessary.
@c38themovie Children are not fully mentally developed and their psychological state is still growing, making them unfit to commit such actions. They are not fully matured adults, physically or mentally, to be able to commit to such an lifelong act. Many adults seem incapable of committing to such acts, let alone a young child who is not fully grown yet.
"let me then pose the question - what if a nation (e.g. the Netherlands) were to give children the right to make legal decisions without parental consent?"
This is a common conservative tactic- pretend THING A is "the same" as THING B. Gay adults are not "the same" as children, so you really have no point here.
Be honest- is your "problem" with this REALLY about your religion?
The tactic used is called socratic dialogue. I'm not a conservative, neither do I believe in using religion or politics in an argument.
The indisputable fact is that not all rights enjoyed today were enjoyed 20 years ago. We once thought children were incapable of making decisions for themselves. In the 21st century, 14 year olds can procure abortions without their parents' knowledge and engage in relationships with anyone they love.
The film strives to point out that we base most of our fundamental beliefs on feelings rather than fact. You'll notice this from the comments from everyone below. Just as proponents of black civil rights or women's rights in the 20th century would never have gone so far as to compare sexual orientation with race or gender, we likewise have to recognize that people right now are challenging existing laws on polygamy, incest and legal age. Denying their rights is simply unjust, right?
"we likewise have to recognize that people right now are challenging existing laws on polygamy, incest and legal age. Denying their rights is simply unjust, right?"
Wrong. I've already addressed your conservtive dishonesty in trying this negative compare trick. You didn't address it.
I also asked you to BE HONEST and answer if this is really about your RELIGION?
"You'll notice this from the comments from everyone below. Just as proponents of black civil rights or women's rights in the 20th century would never have gone so far as to compare sexual orientation with race or gender"
Proponents of civil rights HAVE compare it to gay marriage, including Mildred Loving...of Loving V. Virginia? She and her husband fought conservatives like you for the right to marry. also Coretta Scott King, Joe Lewis, Rob Graetz, James Lawson, Julian Bond,
You should also be ashamed of that deceptive christian trick trying to equate gay marriage (aka two adults) to pedophiles.
you guys should be more honest here that it's all about your magical religion. Cause yeah...a book of stories with a levitating saviors with magical powers and the bad guy is talking snake makes a logical argument!
Homosexuality does exist in many, many species other than human beings.
The constitution does not provide specifically for this, however the U.S. Supreme Court has ruled that Political Equality is a right, and granting some rights to heterosexuals and denying them to homosexuals is a violation of Political Equality. The Supreme Court's job is to say what the constitution means, and what they say is constitutional law. So therefore it is now a constitutional right to civil union. ;)
@1966Lt Actually, homosexuality is not a mental illness. You will NOT find it in the DSM (the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders-- THE authority on mental illness). And there IS in fact homosexuality in other species. I hope you are really young, that that is the reason for your asinine comment, and that you will someday learn and grow up. Uh oh. Were you born in 1966? Hmm, and you used the phrase "proof is in the pudding." There goes my hope for your future.
Kayemce, the only reason homo is off the DSM list is because of the APA president Dr. Spiegal was a in closet homo. There was a group of in the closet psychiatrist called teh GAYPA. This is a fact. You can wiki "81 words" They even have tape of the president admitting it.
Also, what peer review journal do states that homosexuality is in other species. I hope your not talking about Levays work. But can you let me know. I'd like to read it.
Jahkillian: Your grammar, spelling, and editing are atrocious. Is it fair for me to argue with someone who doesn't know the difference between "your" and "you're"? It seems that you're about eight years old, and I don't feel comfortable skewering you. And really, you're going to quote wikipedia? Suffice it to say I have WAY more training and experience than you (I could be a witness for the prosecution OR defense on the subject of mental illness). Being gay is not a mental illness. Period.
@kayemce THEY HAVE TAPE OF DR. SPEIGAL ADMITTING IT YOU TWIT!
His own granddaughter put together the entire documentary. If you want to ignore facts and keep preaching a lie to make you feel better go a head. You can look into the history of how it was taken of the mental illness list and see it had nothing to do with science, it was all political. Are you saying his family and the tap is a lie? My grammar has nothing at all to do with it.
@forwardmover It's not about wanting to be "normal." Whatever the shit that is. Trust me, it has nothing to do with wanting to be "normal." It's about wanting to be able to be unified with the one you love, and have the same rights that are given to everyone else. To have the same protection for you, your spouse and family just as anyway one else is given.
@dancesonpoles Problem is these disordered people migrate to cities and try to take over the politics and culture, actually victimizing normal people. San Francisco is a good example. This is why so there are so few children are in the city (FACT). Too much perversion. I know many gay people, well; and many detest being gay.
@forwardmover They are not disordered, jesus. I know many gay people as well, and though they may detest being gay because of how society treats them, their lack of rights, and personal reasons, they still want the same rights as everyone else in order to protect their families and spouse while in a union. They deserve that right for just being people who cause no harm to anyone else, and all they want to do it live their damn life. Fuck politics, I'm speaking of the everyday people.
@dancesonpoles Every culture has a different idea of "normal." How absurd is that? Normal people do not insult Christians by using religious names like "jesus" in vain, as you do. ? Hopefully, you are liberal minded about new behavior. Actually, many gay people detest being gay, period. Ironically, you seem to conform to ideology of many 21 year olds.
@forwardmover Is it really absurd. Maybe you need to travel? Yes, every culture has a different view on normal. And yeah I suppose I should have magically known you were Christian? Get over yourself with this 21 bullshit. And again, many may detest it but that doesn't mean they want to be treated like dirt. Stop generalizing every group you speak of. It shows your poor knowledge and awareness of the world and the people in it.
@forwardmover Um, well arnt you the little investigator. I'm not playing this stupid game with you. The, let's judge harshy and act like we know eachother from staring at computer channels. Give me a break. I let people live there lives the way they choose if it does not hurt anyone else. I just show compassion to everyone and try not to dwell on things that exist regardless to out personal opinions. Thanks for the "argument." I'm done. Peace and love.
@dancesonpoles RE: It's not about wanting to be "normal." Whatever the shit that is." You don't know what normal is? You must a 20-something. Good thing your parents knew what normal is. Definitely a very confused generation. Good luck
@forwardmover My love, normal is just a word. There is no such thing. If I had a dime for every time someone attempted to define normal, I'd be rich. Fitting into the mold of society? Being religious? Being straight? Following the structured path were handed at birth? Every culture has a different idea of "normal." Every person has a different idea. And a confused generation? More like a more tolerant, accepting, less judgmental generation that isn't as intensely brain washed by religion.Goodday
@dancesonpoles I am not your love. But that's OK. Most 21 year olds these days have poor boundaries and many many sex partners by that age. Even being a slut is "normal" in some circles. Whatever works. But try either going to college and take a sociology class, or try wikipedia for "normal". Being 5-10% of population is NOT normal.
@forwardmover I am the last person you need to be coaching on how poor 21 year olds are these days, seeing as I'm not in that category. That has nothing to do with homosexuals and them wanting to just live their damn lives, and again, there being no such thing as normal. Please step out of your bubble and experience the world and all the different people in it.
@idaman12345 Are you a slacker? Actually, i belong to the 95% of the world's population that is not sexually dis-oriented. We should tolerate and be humane with these disordered people. Actually most of the world's progress is due to Conservative Libertarians. SCAM: There is in fact very little progressive about progressives. Fortunately more of the world knows this, including the new capitalist Chinese. Gotten your share of Barack bucks (or change)? Checking out those polls? Obama =Toast
@idaman12345 I am very sophisticated about how leftist / collectivist / death culture manipulates language. For example: "pro-choice" is not about "choice". Its about killing. death. PRO-CHOICE = PRO-DEATH. "Take out the garbage service" for promiscuous sluts.
Who Do You Think You Are To Judge People??? Gay People Are The Same As EVERYONE Else. It Is Pricks Like You Who Infect And Fuck Up The World Not Gay People.
There is no mention of same-sex marriages or partnerships in the Bible, either for or against. The omission is probably because these issues were not even considered in Biblical times.
The Old Testament prescribed the death penalty for the crimes of murder, incest, adultery, homosexual acts. You do the math!
Gays are sick bastards! theyre the same kinda gross pervs that like to screw around with little innocent kids! Nasty creeps need to learn to control there hormones............ Send em out here to montana so i can demonstrate how we deal with gays out here!
How the hell did the questions went from gay marriage into incest marriage?! This is not a way to make people understand or oppose gay marriage, is it? gay marriage has nothing to do with incest marriage.. and i dont think we will ever go as far as incest marriage fortunately.
marik - I duno how you dont see the correlation between gay marriage & gay incest or polygamy marriage yet u totally see the correlation between gay marriage & straight marriage. Like theres no difference between a man and a woman? Theres no difference between being able to procreate & not? Theres no difference between a mother & father? Really? Gays argument is: "I'm a person, I should be able to marry who I love no matter what any1 thinks." Couldnt gay incest/polygamy make the same case?
What exactly is the point of this video?? Society draws arbitrary lines all the time!! The idea that somehow gay marriage would bring in the error of sanctioned incest and bestiality is just stupid!! Gay marriage doesn't encourage incest or bestiality any more than hetersexual marriage does. This video is just silly! Equality under the law: both gay and straight people won't be allowed to marry their siblings or their pets. Don't worry people!!
Plutogirl, have you read the recent news about the Danish siblings who were found guilty of incest for intimate relations? Or the German man who sits in prison for fathering the child of his sister, who is in a consensual relationship with him? Laws have been put in place forbidding such relationships - just as laws in Canada and the US were put in place regarding homosexuality.
What is your basis for sanctioning one type of consensual union while condemning another?
It's very simple: I believe that people who are gay should be treated equally under the law. I do not believe that homosexuality is a choice but it is an instrinsic part of one's identity. Heterosexual people now have the right to marry someone whom they are find sexually attracted to. Gay people are not afforded this right in all but 4 states in the U.S. This is unequal treatment under the law. Incest in sex between siblings, these siblings are either straight, gay or bisexual. Therefore...
Continued response... not allowing siblings to marry is not a violation of the principle of equal protection under the law, since--if gay marriage is allowed-- they would have the equal opportunity to marry someone they are sexually attracted to just like everybody else.
You need to more clearly distinguish between marriage and sexual attraction.
Your argument is that siblings have equal access to marriage - they're just not allowed to marry each-other. However, they are being thrown in prison for their sexual encounters!
Using the same argument, you could say that even without gay marriage, gays have equal access to the institution of marriage - just as long as they don't marry each-other.
Sexual preference is not a fundamentally defining characteristic of an individual, and certainly not of marriage. Sex between gays was decriminalized years ago - yet sex between siblings is still illegal in most countries (though this is rapidly changing in Europe).
How could they possibly have equal access to marriage when they can't marry someone they are romantically attracted to? I go back to the founding document of the U.S. and the idea of the pursuit of happiness. Our fundamental difference in percieving what homosexuality is, renders this discussion useless. You seem to think homosexuality is a choice, I don't.
Look I don't believe consenting adults should be thrown in prison for having sex, period! But the discussion here is about gay marriage. I first responded on this page to the slippery slope argument and I think my response is adequate and would be more persuasive that the slippery slope in a court of law. But let's be real there aren't significant number of siblings who want to have sex with each other, I have 6 and not 1 of them turns me on. Again it is a total and silly Canard!!
I think all of these issues are related - and proof of this is that they are being challenged internationally. Whether there is 1 gay couple or 1000 that wants to marry shouldn't determine legislation anymore than with siblings - rather we need to clearly define what constitutes ethical and unethical behavior - and what basis we as individuals have to condone one behavior yet condemn another. It's easy to dismiss others' persecution when they are the minority group.
Look, nothing you say is going to change the inevitable, gay marriage will become a reality and this idea that gay marriage will bring about sanctioned incest isn't going to stop it. Again I ask why is gay marriage, any more likely than homosexual marriage to encourage acceptance of incest. It's obvious that you think gay people are immoral, this discussion really is moot because we are coming from very differing view points and anyways I have class, adieu!
I'm not arguing on the basis that gay marriage is immoral any more than you're arguing that incest is immoral. I'm challenging you to define what constitutes marriage and why it should be influenced by sexual preference. Your arguments also stem from the assumption that all individuals are either gay, straight or bisexual - which is another term for 'confusion' amongst many gays. If sexual preference can change, and you believe marriage is defined by sexuality, then marriage should be inclusive.
Look, I really must go but what exactly is your point?? You state that marriage isn't influenced by sexual preference, I beg to differ. As far as I can tell the vast majority of people who want to marry each other want to do so because they are attracted to each other (in love) and want to spend the rest of their lives together. Now since the Government has seen fit to offer benefits to heterosexuals who enter into marriage, I see no reason why gays shouldn't recieve the same benefits!!
@c38themovie Sexual preference doesn't change. You're either born attracted to just woman, or just men, or both. A switch doesn't just go off sometime throughout your life. A homosexual has always been attracted to the same sex. A heterosexual has always been attracted to the opposite sex, and a bisexual has always been attracted to both sexes.
@c38themovie An incest relationship has the ability to cause harm to the fetus created, proving it is harmful and not good. The child is usually born with some form of a disorder, and their immune systems have been shown to be weaker in protecting themselves. In bestiality ,the animal is unable to give consent to partake in a relationship or marriage due to communication barriers, again making it not good. With children, the child is not fully developed psychologically to be making suchdecisions
It's the slippery slope.... if gay marriage is passed, nothing is stopping brothers and sisters, polygamists and polyamorists, from stepping up, shouting "love" and "discrimination" and getting their way. In reality, what is stopping this from one day occurring. From one judge, years from now, saying "you know what, not granting polygamous relationships is against what we came to with same sex marriage. We're going to allow for polygamy." With the ground work there, it only takes very little.
The slippery slope theory is a stupid Canard. Gay marriage is about equality under the law, all this nonsense about it ushering in bestiality and incest is just sad fear-mongering!! Sisters and Brothers are either heterosexual or homosexual in either case if gay marriage is allowed they would have the equal opportunity as anyone else to find someone fall in love and get married. That is now not the case for gay people now! Please stop the nonsense you can't take these silly arguments in court!
Why are we bringing christianity into this? Last time I checked, there is a seperation of church and state.
Who cares if you believe that YOUR god made us a certain way. I don't believe that and you have no right to push that down anyone's throat.
I swear, you heteros will come up with anything to "protect marriage" lol. The supposed sanctity of marriage has already been ruined by heteros. Give it a rest.
"Thatsiouxpergirl", I am curious what your thoughts are about our Criminal Code. There are still many laws enforced that deal with 'morality' which have their foundations in either religious or natural laws. Do you think laws founded on such principles should be eliminated?
Are laws against theft, damage of property and violence the only laws which should be upheld?
What about other laws, such as the ambiguous 'indecent exposure', or the even more contentious 'sex with a minor'? Unless it can be proven that they physically harm someone, do you feel they should be eliminated?
There are plenty of laws that should be upheld, but fortunately for the lgbt community, four states have legalized same sex marriage so it isn't against the law. you lose :)
Indecent exposure-I don't think a five year old should have to see a perv's penis if he decides to be an idiot and walk down the street naked.
Sex with a minor- Actually, in my state, the age of consent is 16. Of course, I don't think a 35 year old should be able to have sex with a 10 year old.
Starry, I cant believe you're arguing against why incest is decided wrong. So you're grouping incest and homosexuality together. This country was founded on Christian principles, that's why the law exists. Do you think its OK for humans to have sex with animals?
that's not a very valid point to make, as the comparisons are very different. having sex with an animal does not equal having sex with another human that relates to you or with someone of the same sex as you.
Homosexuality is clearly going against nature. So what if it's not another human. Why wouldn't someone who FEELS like having sex with a dog be allowed to if they think its OK? seriously.
Homosexuality is nothing other than love. It just happens between two HUMANS of the same sex. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that. A human having sex with an animal, is not in your same species, and therefore put in a different category altogether. Incest is an issue because of the children produced from it. They are three very different things from where i'm standing.
So what if someone wants to have relations with a child, there shouldn't be anything wrong with that right, isnt it just "love"? As for marriage, if you're going to change the def., why not open it up to incest, beastiality, polygamy etc.. there would be no reason to keep the established institution.
relations with a child.....molestation incest.....if you want to marry your sister/brother/other family relation.....oooookay fine i would not but u can. having a kid with them is another story. i dont get why you put homosexuality in the same category as beastiality, polygamy, perverseness....it is by no means the same. It's just a relation between two humans of the same sex. nothing more.
let me ask you this: what do you believe is different about guy/guy or girl/girl relationships than guy/girl relationships? they have the same ups and downs, the same situations, and they all have sexual relations! The only thing that's different is one is discriminated against and one isnt. its not EXTRA perverted, or dangerous, or ANYTHING.
i wasn't talking about whether they could REPRODUCE i was talking about whether its "morally wrong" or
"unnatural", which it isn't. Having relations with the same sex is not the same as having relations with an animal (different species), or someone in your family (can reproduce but w/medical problems). They are three different things. Like i said in my other comment- it's all a matter of opinion here.
The reason homosexuality is in the same category as the others is b/c it's all about love, right? incest, polygamy, beastiality... they love and feel like doing it. If you dont think there is any difference between a man and a woman there'e no point in even debating you. straight relations can procreate, homo relations cannot, meaning it goes against nature and how God made us. Just like beastiality and incest. How do you not see that?
man/woman relationship=man/man or woman/woman relationship differing ONLY in the category of reproduction. I'm not talking about science and how you say"God created us". The fact is, this entire debate is a matter of opinion. U think its unnatural, i do not. You're never going to get me to see your point, and there is no way you're ever going to understand mine. Last question; are u a really strong christian?
I was at a friend's house on Nolin Lake. Look it up. It's real.
Anyway, you've compared homosexuality to incest and bestiality. They are not the same thing. But four states have legalized same sex marriage so I have nothing to complain about because it will pave the way for other states. In the end, you'll lose :)
i don't even remember what i typed lol =3 but i think i meant that gay marriage and incest aren't equal because u can have kids with incest, it's just a health issue, but you can't have kids with gay marriage so health isn't an issue there. The bigger question is...why does it even matter? Okay...so u want to marry ur sister....i wouldn't but i won't judge if u do, okay so u want to marry another of the same sex, go ahead! Heck, marry a dog if you want to!
to add. let me clarify a little bit. In a sexual relationship, i think incest isn't so good because of health-related issues...but then again, there are health related issues with homosexuals and heterosexuals also....but anyway, in a love based relationship, i am finding it very hard to find why someone should not be allowed to express their love to another through marriage/dating just because its not straight, boygirl, non-family relations 0_o.
This is my question: how will legalizing gay marriage benefit society? No one has yet answered that. Even medical professionals have affirmed that these kinds of sexual relationships are unhealthy. What's the meaning of inmoral? People just dont care. We're living in a perverse society and no one knows what's right or wrong anymore.
i love how when they talk about marriage, they say anyone should be able to, but siblings cant because they find it 'morally wrong'. thats the problem with this, everyone thinks gay marriage is 'morally wrong'. when in fact neither are. the reason that incest is so looked down apon, is in fact because siblings having children often produce unhealthy children. as society ages, we start seeing incest as gorss, morally wrong, horrible, nasty. same things homosexuals are fighting against.
i would think it to be more of a cultural thing, because it was common in certain old civilisations, the pharaos did it, but a better example would be marriage between cousins, which is not universally agreed upon to this day. I do find a moral issue though, to which you already pointed : the likelihood of having unhealthy children makes it totally irresponsible since we are aware of the dangers of incest. It is probably not very common anyways.
and when they say its morally wrong for homosexuality, a large number of people who say that is religious, and the reason they think it morally wrong is because of their religion. and I believe in separation of church and state, so I see no reason why two women who love each other cant get married.
so when it comes to incest, you can either say its morally wrong because of religion, or you can give it a scientific reason and say its unhealthy, which gives you a real reason to call it illegal.
lol i dont think my first comment posted up, well, what i was trying to say is that i dont think its good, simply because of how children tend to come out so unhealthy. if it wasnt unhealthy, then there would be no reason for it to be illegal. i was trying to separate moral issues which originated in the church, and logical issues, or reasons why it should be illegal. homosexuality does no harm to children or society, so the only reason for that to be illegal is religious views.
incest-wrong because it produces unhealthy children.
homosexuality-wrong only under religious beliefs.
they use the word 'moral' to refer to the church being against it. incest has legal standing, homosexuality has religious standing.
if it was never found and never true that incest produced unhealthy children, people would be more accepting of it, unless of course you are part of a religion, then all kinds of things are 'morally' wrong.
Wow, your not making any sense. If you think in our modern time having sex with your own sibling is OK you have a serious chemical imbalance. I dont care if it did produce healthy children.
Have you ever said something that you look back on and think, why did I say that or what was I thinking? I sincerely believe you will. Saying it's only wrong b/c it produces unhealthy children is like saying dropping a baby on it's head is only wrong b/c it might give them brain damage, or murder is only wrong b/c someone dies, or stealing is only wrong b/c your taking something that doesn't belong to you.
It is proven fact that incest produces unhealthy children, just like it is proven fact that shooting someone in the head is an unhealthy course of action that will more than likely result in death. Who ever gave you the idea that incest is OK, you should either call the cops, or get as far away from them as possible.
and my point about it all, is that the reason they say its not okay is simply retarded. basing everything off of religion. its the same they do with homosexuality.
all those other things cause harm to another person. if incest didnt cause any harm to anyone involved or any later beings involved, society would have a different view on it. people were marrying cousins as late as the 1850's, and at that time it wasnt this huge thing like it is now, only when it was proven that incest does infact produce unhealthy children, did people become so biased.
im not saying incest is okay, im saying society would have a different view if the facts were different.
A man or a woman marring an animal is just out of the question because the animal can't say "I do". The animal can't sign its name to confirm its marriage license. So that's a no-no.
As for siblings marring siblings I think that would be the first time the human race would go as far as marring someone who they're actually related to. Maybe two men can't make a baby, but why make a retarded baby? But if they don't want kids and they still want to marry... its not my life, THANK GOD!
Isn't that similar to asking anyone why they picked their chosen partner when there are many more suitable candidates in the world? If you believe love should be a free decision then you shouldn't impose your moral conditions on one group.
Some people are born with a tendency to pedophilia or even incest. Does being born with a tendency always legitimize such feelings?
Or, if feelings are acquired later in life, why should that make them unjustified (e.g. experimenting with lesbianism).
I think there has to be some type of limit. I know that sounds harsh. And I'm a REALLY open person. I'm Gay myself. I think its a natural for people to automatically not have an attraction towards your own siblings, and that's why I've always thought people who are incest couples are some-what mentally abused or sick.
" I think its a natural for people to automatically not have an attraction towards your own siblings, and that's why I've always thought people who are incest couples are some-what mentally abused or sick."
"As for siblings marring siblings I think that would be the first time the human race would go as far as marring someone who they're actually related to"
Not at all.
In Polynesia, before the christians and corporations destroyed their society,
the royalty could marry no one BUT a sibling.
It doesn't necessarily result in "retarded babies."
edgar allen poe as well, though, i dont think he is the best example because of his writing. too many would take that and put it against him. while he wasnt insane or sick in the head exactly, but of course none would see it like that.
Are you being sarcastic when you say 'that would be the first time the human race would go so far as marrying [sic] someone who they're actually related to"?
Homosexuals make up about 4% of the population. Yet, they have 44% of all male syphilis, 50% of all venereal disease, 53% of all intestinal diseases, 43% of all hepatitis A, 35% of all hepatitis B, and 88% of all AIDS cases. The average age of homosexuals dying with AIDS is 39. The average age of homosexuals dying of all other causes is only 41. Only 1 percent of homosexuals live to be 65 or older. The suicide rate among homosexuals is 60 times higher than the general population
Let me correct that last quote: ..only valid reason they should not * get married. But then again, common heterosexual couples give birth to deformed or mentally impaired children as well. That does not make their children or relationship any less valid.
To the comment below me. Now thats just not right for a brother and sister to feel that way about eachother. thats incest and they should never be able to get married. And if two gay brothers wanted to get married i wouldnt approve either. Gays are just like me and you and im sure they live by the same rules of not marrying family.
According to them, any two people should be allowed to get married. Alright, so does that mean adults should be able to marry children? What about children marrying each other? What about incest marriage?

DoesNotApply 7 months ago
@DoesNotApply It (same sex relationships) do not weaken any other relationship. One type of relationship cannot be lowered for the sake of another. This type of discrimination leads to second class citizenship and it's not acceptable.

Quit giving these realy weak conservative replys. You just equated gay marriage with counterfeit money...aka fake. You made no ratinal argument about how a gay marriage would be any less real than a straight marriage.

Direct generic offspring and inbreeding can lead to disability.
If the attraction is there, as uncomfortable as the thought makes me, personally. It's there. Homosexual marriage, interracial marriage is all well and good. But incestuous practice is a hindrance on our development, scientifically. After all, survival has become about development now.
tgtk 1 year ago
@tgtk Interesting stance. Would you then argue that couples whose children have a good chance of developing genetic disabilities should be legally prohibited from getting married? (this would include but not be limited to those with down syndrome who love eachother).
It should be noted that incestuous relationships do not necessarily lead to offspring with genetic disabilities.
c38themovie 1 year ago
@c38themovie Actually, you've pointed out that my argument isn't very well thought out. I'm not sure how we're debating incest in comparison to homosexuality. I thought everyone felt incest was just, strange. I'll definitely say that it makes me uncomfortable. Homosexuality, interracial couples or any other of these issues don't. Incestuous relationships are wrong though, surely?
tgtk 1 year ago
@tgtk When the marriage debate in Canada was at its peak in 2005, nobody thought that incestuous relationships or even polygamous ones would be challenged. In Europe, laws regarding incest are being reconsidered, as in the case of two siblings who grew up separately but later fell in love. The husband has been imprisoned, according to Germany's laws, and has been prohibited from visiting his children.
At the time of Trudeau most Canadians also thought that gay relationships were wrong.
c38themovie 1 year ago
@c38themovie I think then, all things considered. Love is love. It can't be helped. who are we to enforce a ban or illegality on any of it? Cheers for the info!
tgtk 1 year ago
@tgtk Actually the idea that inbreeding raises the rates of retardation is a myth. It's continuous inbreeding within a population that will bring about the phenotypic expression of recessive genes over a long period of time. Just like how if a whole community were gay it would be detrimental to that community because of no births. Same with inbreeding.
DoesNotApply 7 months ago
@tgtk Woah, don't tell me you're an idiot too. Haha. First of all homosexual marriage and interracial marriage aren't related in any way. Secondly, we know heterosexual couples are right/natural because they can reproduce. Therefore if we best what is right and natural off of reproduction, then homosexuality is wrong. Thirdly,How can you say incest is a hindrance, but say homosexuality which can't even reproduce is not? I don't see. They both are a hindrance, one=retards and the other=less of us.
circablonk 6 months ago
@circablonk I wrote this a while ago. Now I take the stance of separation. I mean that I don't think I have any right to tell anyone who they should be attracted to. I feel that any form of attraction is that of the beholders and the lines are too blurry to be placing laws on it all. Reproduction is not the sole purpose of attraction. The fact that people are attracted to the same sex proves this. All these laws are created and undone in the pursuit of understanding attraction.

01joydivision 1 year ago

Be honest- is your "problem" with this REALLY about your religion?
hipstermi 7 months ago
@hipstermi

So therefore it is now a constitutional right to civil union. ;)

How the hell did the questions went from gay marriage into incest marriage?! This is not a way to make people understand or oppose gay marriage, is it? gay marriage has nothing to do with incest marriage.. and i dont think we will ever go as far as incest marriage fortunately.
marikitna 2 years ago
marik - I duno how you dont see the correlation between gay marriage & gay incest or polygamy marriage yet u totally see the correlation between gay marriage & straight marriage. Like theres no difference between a man and a woman? Theres no difference between being able to procreate & not? Theres no difference between a mother & father? Really? Gays argument is: "I'm a person, I should be able to marry who I love no matter what any1 thinks." Couldnt gay incest/polygamy make the same case?
llouldeng 2 years ago
What a great video.
This shows the hypocrisy of the gay marriage movement.
It shows that people haven't really given the debate much thought,
but are rather more scared of being labeled a "homophobe" because
as of right now it's somehow "in" (or at least in the media) to support
homosexuality.
I think it's funny that a lot of people ignore the argument of religions
"morals," yet the main reason to deny additional groups (like sibling marriage)
was it's "immoral."
llouldeng 2 years ago
What exactly is the point of this video?? Society draws arbitrary lines all the time!! The idea that somehow gay marriage would bring in the error of sanctioned incest and bestiality is just stupid!! Gay marriage doesn't encourage incest or bestiality any more than hetersexual marriage does. This video is just silly! Equality under the law: both gay and straight people won't be allowed to marry their siblings or their pets. Don't worry people!!
plutogirllovekj 2 years ago
Plutogirl, have you read the recent news about the Danish siblings who were found guilty of incest for intimate relations? Or the German man who sits in prison for fathering the child of his sister, who is in a consensual relationship with him? Laws have been put in place forbidding such relationships - just as laws in Canada and the US were put in place regarding homosexuality.
What is your basis for sanctioning one type of consensual union while condemning another?
c38themovie 2 years ago
It's very simple: I believe that people who are gay should be treated equally under the law. I do not believe that homosexuality is a choice but it is an instrinsic part of one's identity. Heterosexual people now have the right to marry someone whom they are find sexually attracted to. Gay people are not afforded this right in all but 4 states in the U.S. This is unequal treatment under the law. Incest in sex between siblings, these siblings are either straight, gay or bisexual. Therefore...
plutogirllovekj 2 years ago
TYPO!! "incest is" not "incest in"
plutogirllovekj 2 years ago
2nd TYPO!! "whom they are sexually attracted to" not "whom they are find sexually attracted to"
plutogirllovekj 2 years ago
Continued response... not allowing siblings to marry is not a violation of the principle of equal protection under the law, since--if gay marriage is allowed-- they would have the equal opportunity to marry someone they are sexually attracted to just like everybody else.
plutogirllovekj 2 years ago
You need to more clearly distinguish between marriage and sexual attraction.
Your argument is that siblings have equal access to marriage - they're just not allowed to marry each-other. However, they are being thrown in prison for their sexual encounters!
c38themovie 2 years ago
Using the same argument, you could say that even without gay marriage, gays have equal access to the institution of marriage - just as long as they don't marry each-other.
Sexual preference is not a fundamentally defining characteristic of an individual, and certainly not of marriage. Sex between gays was decriminalized years ago - yet sex between siblings is still illegal in most countries (though this is rapidly changing in Europe).
c38themovie 2 years ago
How could they possibly have equal access to marriage when they can't marry someone they are romantically attracted to? I go back to the founding document of the U.S. and the idea of the pursuit of happiness. Our fundamental difference in percieving what homosexuality is, renders this discussion useless. You seem to think homosexuality is a choice, I don't.
plutogirllovekj 2 years ago
Look I don't believe consenting adults should be thrown in prison for having sex, period! But the discussion here is about gay marriage. I first responded on this page to the slippery slope argument and I think my response is adequate and would be more persuasive that the slippery slope in a court of law. But let's be real there aren't significant number of siblings who want to have sex with each other, I have 6 and not 1 of them turns me on. Again it is a total and silly Canard!!
plutogirllovekj 2 years ago
I think all of these issues are related - and proof of this is that they are being challenged internationally. Whether there is 1 gay couple or 1000 that wants to marry shouldn't determine legislation anymore than with siblings - rather we need to clearly define what constitutes ethical and unethical behavior - and what basis we as individuals have to condone one behavior yet condemn another. It's easy to dismiss others' persecution when they are the minority group.
c38themovie 2 years ago
Look, nothing you say is going to change the inevitable, gay marriage will become a reality and this idea that gay marriage will bring about sanctioned incest isn't going to stop it. Again I ask why is gay marriage, any more likely than homosexual marriage to encourage acceptance of incest. It's obvious that you think gay people are immoral, this discussion really is moot because we are coming from very differing view points and anyways I have class, adieu!
plutogirllovekj 2 years ago
Sorry I meant to write "heterosexual marriage", not "homosexual marriage"
plutogirllovekj 2 years ago
I'm not arguing on the basis that gay marriage is immoral any more than you're arguing that incest is immoral. I'm challenging you to define what constitutes marriage and why it should be influenced by sexual preference. Your arguments also stem from the assumption that all individuals are either gay, straight or bisexual - which is another term for 'confusion' amongst many gays. If sexual preference can change, and you believe marriage is defined by sexuality, then marriage should be inclusive.
c38themovie 2 years ago
Look, I really must go but what exactly is your point?? You state that marriage isn't influenced by sexual preference, I beg to differ. As far as I can tell the vast majority of people who want to marry each other want to do so because they are attracted to each other (in love) and want to spend the rest of their lives together. Now since the Government has seen fit to offer benefits to heterosexuals who enter into marriage, I see no reason why gays shouldn't recieve the same benefits!!
plutogirllovekj 2 years ago
@c38themovie Sexual preference doesn't change. You're either born attracted to just woman, or just men, or both. A switch doesn't just go off sometime throughout your life. A homosexual has always been attracted to the same sex. A heterosexual has always been attracted to the opposite sex, and a bisexual has always been attracted to both sexes.
dancesonpoles 1 year ago
@c38themovie An incest relationship has the ability to cause harm to the fetus created, proving it is harmful and not good. The child is usually born with some form of a disorder, and their immune systems have been shown to be weaker in protecting themselves. In bestiality ,the animal is unable to give consent to partake in a relationship or marriage due to communication barriers, again making it not good. With children, the child is not fully developed psychologically to be making suchdecisions
dancesonpoles 1 year ago
Hey plutogirl! As far as i can see i completely agree with your opinion...thanks for saying it!
outrayjess 2 years ago
It's the slippery slope.... if gay marriage is passed, nothing is stopping brothers and sisters, polygamists and polyamorists, from stepping up, shouting "love" and "discrimination" and getting their way. In reality, what is stopping this from one day occurring. From one judge, years from now, saying "you know what, not granting polygamous relationships is against what we came to with same sex marriage. We're going to allow for polygamy." With the ground work there, it only takes very little.
orion7763 2 years ago
The slippery slope theory is a stupid Canard. Gay marriage is about equality under the law, all this nonsense about it ushering in bestiality and incest is just sad fear-mongering!! Sisters and Brothers are either heterosexual or homosexual in either case if gay marriage is allowed they would have the equal opportunity as anyone else to find someone fall in love and get married. That is now not the case for gay people now! Please stop the nonsense you can't take these silly arguments in court!
plutogirllovekj 2 years ago
Why are we bringing christianity into this? Last time I checked, there is a seperation of church and state.
Who cares if you believe that YOUR god made us a certain way. I don't believe that and you have no right to push that down anyone's throat.
I swear, you heteros will come up with anything to "protect marriage" lol. The supposed sanctity of marriage has already been ruined by heteros. Give it a rest.
thatsiouxpergirl 2 years ago
"Thatsiouxpergirl", I am curious what your thoughts are about our Criminal Code. There are still many laws enforced that deal with 'morality' which have their foundations in either religious or natural laws. Do you think laws founded on such principles should be eliminated?
I'd be very interested to hear your answer.
c38themovie 2 years ago
Without laws against theft, mob action, vandalism, etc... there would be chaos, I don't doubt that.
However, that has nothing to do with same-sex marriage.
You cannot establish a religion...it says so in the Constitution.
Preach what you want, but I don't come up with ridiculous shit to back it up.
thatsiouxpergirl 2 years ago
Are laws against theft, damage of property and violence the only laws which should be upheld?
What about other laws, such as the ambiguous 'indecent exposure', or the even more contentious 'sex with a minor'? Unless it can be proven that they physically harm someone, do you feel they should be eliminated?
c38themovie 2 years ago

Do you think its OK for humans to have sex with animals?
mytuber81 2 years ago
that's not a very valid point to make, as the comparisons are very different. having sex with an animal does not equal having sex with another human that relates to you or with someone of the same sex as you.
outrayjess 2 years ago
Homosexuality is clearly going against nature. So what if it's not another human. Why wouldn't someone who FEELS like having sex with a dog be allowed to if they think its OK? seriously.
mytuber81 2 years ago
Homosexuality is nothing other than love. It just happens between two HUMANS of the same sex. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that. A human having sex with an animal, is not in your same species, and therefore put in a different category altogether. Incest is an issue because of the children produced from it. They are three very different things from where i'm standing.
outrayjess 2 years ago
So what if someone wants to have relations with a child, there shouldn't be anything wrong with that right, isnt it just "love"? As for marriage, if you're going to change the def., why not open it up to incest, beastiality, polygamy etc.. there would be no reason to keep the established institution.
mytuber81 2 years ago
relations with a child.....molestation incest.....if you want to marry your sister/brother/other family relation.....oooookay fine i would not but u can. having a kid with them is another story. i dont get why you put homosexuality in the same category as beastiality, polygamy, perverseness....it is by no means the same. It's just a relation between two humans of the same sex. nothing more.
outrayjess 2 years ago
let me ask you this: what do you believe is different about guy/guy or girl/girl relationships than guy/girl relationships? they have the same ups and downs, the same situations, and they all have sexual relations! The only thing that's different is one is discriminated against and one isnt. its not EXTRA perverted, or dangerous, or ANYTHING.

mytuber81 2 years ago
"they have the same ups and downs, the same situations"??? lol, what on Gods green earth does that have to do with ANYTHING??
mytuber81 2 years ago
i wasn't talking about whether they could REPRODUCE i was talking about whether its "morally wrong" or
"unnatural", which it isn't. Having relations with the same sex is not the same as having relations with an animal (different species), or someone in your family (can reproduce but w/medical problems). They are three different things. Like i said in my other comment- it's all a matter of opinion here.
outrayjess 2 years ago
The reason homosexuality is in the same category as the others is b/c it's all about love, right? incest, polygamy, beastiality... they love and feel like doing it. If you dont think there is any difference between a man and a woman there'e no point in even debating you. straight relations can procreate, homo relations cannot, meaning it goes against nature and how God made us. Just like beastiality and incest. How do you not see that?
mytuber81 2 years ago
Let me say this one more time.
man/woman relationship=man/man or woman/woman relationship differing ONLY in the category of reproduction. I'm not talking about science and how you say"God created us". The fact is, this entire debate is a matter of opinion. U think its unnatural, i do not. You're never going to get me to see your point, and there is no way you're ever going to understand mine. Last question; are u a really strong christian?
outrayjess 2 years ago
Exhibit A- Hetero comes up with anything to discriminate against homos.
thatsiouxpergirl 2 years ago
What are you talking about?? we all fall under the same law. you have the same rights as everyone else. how are "hetero's" discriminating?

Hahaha, you're back... so what excuse do you have now? If you cant answer the questions dont make excuses for it hunny;)
mytuber81 2 years ago
I was at a friend's house on Nolin Lake. Look it up. It's real.
Anyway, you've compared homosexuality to incest and bestiality. They are not the same thing. But four states have legalized same sex marriage so I have nothing to complain about because it will pave the way for other states. In the end, you'll lose :)
thatsiouxpergirl 2 years ago
outray - Gay incest = no children, soo...?
llouldeng 2 years ago
i don't even remember what i typed lol =3 but i think i meant that gay marriage and incest aren't equal because u can have kids with incest, it's just a health issue, but you can't have kids with gay marriage so health isn't an issue there. The bigger question is...why does it even matter? Okay...so u want to marry ur sister....i wouldn't but i won't judge if u do, okay so u want to marry another of the same sex, go ahead! Heck, marry a dog if you want to!
outrayjess 2 years ago
to add. let me clarify a little bit.

Meshreen50534 2 years ago
i love how when they talk about marriage, they say anyone should be able to, but siblings cant because they find it 'morally wrong'. thats the problem with this, everyone thinks gay marriage is 'morally wrong'. when in fact neither are. the reason that incest is so looked down apon, is in fact because siblings having children often produce unhealthy children. as society ages, we start seeing incest as gorss, morally wrong, horrible, nasty. same things homosexuals are fighting against.
starryeyedbeautypie 2 years ago
i would think it to be more of a cultural thing, because it was common in certain old civilisations, the pharaos did it, but a better example would be marriage between cousins, which is not universally agreed upon to this day. I do find a moral issue though, to which you already pointed : the likelihood of having unhealthy children makes it totally irresponsible since we are aware of the dangers of incest. It is probably not very common anyways.
sorrysonofa 2 years ago
well, edgar allen poe married his cousin :D
its a bit closer to the modern day america than ancient pharaos....
I cant wait until people just kinda wake up about all this, though I fear television is lowering our intelligence a tad bit.
starryeyedbeautypie 2 years ago
Starryeyebeautypie, you dont think incest is wrong?
mytuber81 2 years ago
and when they say its morally wrong for homosexuality, a large number of people who say that is religious, and the reason they think it morally wrong is because of their religion. and I believe in separation of church and state, so I see no reason why two women who love each other cant get married.
so when it comes to incest, you can either say its morally wrong because of religion, or you can give it a scientific reason and say its unhealthy, which gives you a real reason to call it illegal.
starryeyedbeautypie 2 years ago
lol i dont think my first comment posted up, well, what i was trying to say is that i dont think its good, simply because of how children tend to come out so unhealthy. if it wasnt unhealthy, then there would be no reason for it to be illegal. i was trying to separate moral issues which originated in the church, and logical issues, or reasons why it should be illegal. homosexuality does no harm to children or society, so the only reason for that to be illegal is religious views.
starryeyedbeautypie 2 years ago
i dont think i am making any sense.
okay.
incest-wrong because it produces unhealthy children.
homosexuality-wrong only under religious beliefs.
they use the word 'moral' to refer to the church being against it. incest has legal standing, homosexuality has religious standing.
if it was never found and never true that incest produced unhealthy children, people would be more accepting of it, unless of course you are part of a religion, then all kinds of things are 'morally' wrong.
starryeyedbeautypie 2 years ago
Wow, your not making any sense. If you think in our modern time having sex with your own sibling is OK you have a serious chemical imbalance. I dont care if it did produce healthy children.
mytuber81 2 years ago
can you find any other reason that it would be illegal?
starryeyedbeautypie 2 years ago
Have you ever said something that you look back on and think, why did I say that or what was I thinking? I sincerely believe you will. Saying it's only wrong b/c it produces unhealthy children is like saying dropping a baby on it's head is only wrong b/c it might give them brain damage, or murder is only wrong b/c someone dies, or stealing is only wrong b/c your taking something that doesn't belong to you.
mytuber81 2 years ago
It is proven fact that incest produces unhealthy children, just like it is proven fact that shooting someone in the head is an unhealthy course of action that will more than likely result in death. Who ever gave you the idea that incest is OK, you should either call the cops, or get as far away from them as possible.
mytuber81 2 years ago
and my point about it all, is that the reason they say its not okay is simply retarded. basing everything off of religion. its the same they do with homosexuality.
starryeyedbeautypie 2 years ago
all those other things cause harm to another person. if incest didnt cause any harm to anyone involved or any later beings involved, society would have a different view on it. people were marrying cousins as late as the 1850's, and at that time it wasnt this huge thing like it is now, only when it was proven that incest does infact produce unhealthy children, did people become so biased.
im not saying incest is okay, im saying society would have a different view if the facts were different.
starryeyedbeautypie 2 years ago
A man or a woman marring an animal is just out of the question because the animal can't say "I do". The animal can't sign its name to confirm its marriage license. So that's a no-no.
As for siblings marring siblings I think that would be the first time the human race would go as far as marring someone who they're actually related to. Maybe two men can't make a baby, but why make a retarded baby? But if they don't want kids and they still want to marry... its not my life, THANK GOD!
AndyLoraProgram 2 years ago
How do you feel about adults marrying minors who consent to the relationship?
Also, to clarify, incestual marriages (within family or 1st cousins) have been widely accepted and celebrated throughout history.
Homosexual marriages, on the other hand, have been extremely scarce.
c38themovie 2 years ago
Well, everyone knows (or should know) being Gay isn't a choice, because of how Hormones and Antibodies begins at pregnancy.
But as for Incest couples, they are making a choice. Being or having Incest feelings isn't something someone is born with or as.
Why have a relationship with someone in your family when there's billions of people out in the world whom they're not related to? It makes no sense.
AndyLoraProgram 2 years ago
Isn't that similar to asking anyone why they picked their chosen partner when there are many more suitable candidates in the world? If you believe love should be a free decision then you shouldn't impose your moral conditions on one group.
Some people are born with a tendency to pedophilia or even incest. Does being born with a tendency always legitimize such feelings?
Or, if feelings are acquired later in life, why should that make them unjustified (e.g. experimenting with lesbianism).
c38themovie 2 years ago
I think there has to be some type of limit. I know that sounds harsh. And I'm a REALLY open person. I'm Gay myself. I think its a natural for people to automatically not have an attraction towards your own siblings, and that's why I've always thought people who are incest couples are some-what mentally abused or sick.

To the comment below me. Now thats just not right for a brother and sister to feel that way about eachother. thats incest and they should never be able to get married.
