  • I smoke an oom paul but have to pack the tobacco very firmly to get a long, slow draw. I do not inhale and am worried about burnout because my pipe gets pretty warm. Any suggestions?

  • @deederdude I suggest smoking English tobacco, it smokes cooler than aromatic

  • are you the guy from walking tall?

  • No, but now you got me curious. Do I look like an actor?

  • have you seen the movie if so its the scottish dude

  • Can you smoke "dank" out of it

  • What is dank?

  • weed

  • Nice video. I also notice a lot of Dutch-American-english words. For example: cookie = koekje, the English of course say biscuit.

Also, I love how you end your videos with a smoke + music lol.

  • The oom Paul is named after a very specific South African boer: Paul Krüger (1825-1904), president of the Transvaal and leader of the Afrikaaner during the Boer War.

His nickname among the Afrikaaner people was Oom Paul—Uncle Paul.

  • makes sense

  • Oom Paul pipes are so hard to find!I want one!!!It is my favorite shape!!!

  • why do you switch lighters?

  • Sometimes I like a bigger flame

  • Hi Bud. I need an instructor like you to teach me the art of pipe smoking :-)

  • Let me know if you have a webcam and a pipe and I will be happy to help

  • Thanks guy. When I hook it up I will let you know and then you can teach me :-)

  • Haha'very funny video... im dutch and u speak the language very well. i like all your videos so keep the good work up. And the dutch lessons xD

  • Isn't Amsterdam in Holland? Aren't people from Holland called "Dutch"? What is the connection with the Amish and Holland? Back up in Ohio we have a HUGE Amish population... oh, never mind. They call their area, "little Switzerland". They do have killer weed though... the Amish.

  • Pennsylvinia Dutch used to be Penns. Deutsch and Deutsch is the german word for "German". The Amish trace their roots back to the germans, but because of a language misnomer people think they came from the Netherlands

  • meercats dont live near lakes

  • Actually, Oom Paul refers to "Oom Paul" Kruger, president of the Transvaal (South Africa) during the 19th century.

  • and wasn't he a farmer/union member also?

  • Don't know about union member, but he grew up on a farm so certainly he can be called a farmer. I don't think that's how the pipe shape got its name though. Sorry if I ruffled feathers--just trying to add some info.

    --Ken

  • Not at all, I appreciate the additional info. The legend has it he made his own pipes and they had the Oom Paul shape

  • Great video! Just be careful taking the stem off of a hot pipe. It can swell and you may not be able to get it back on or worse it may become very loose fitting.

  • Thanks for the warning!!!! I was not aware of that

  • Hey Pipefriend!....try to find a IM Corona lighter. They say its the best! I own one, and I'm very pleased with it. I've buy the the lighter on Ebay for only 3 Euro's. Unfortunately it was broken, so I let it fixt by the factorie for 15 Euro's. This lighter cost in the shop more then 100,- Euro's...lucky me;-)...no more finger burns
