hahha, yeah i agree with the guy who posted first: 7notemode. yup u just raised the bar! awesome arrangement. btw, which kb are you using? i have a major problem that after learning so many years on a piano, i cant stand the touch of a kb and im really looking for a good portable weighted touch kb. i currently use a psr3000 but the touch is horrible. any advice?
Wow, that's a great arrangement of Poinciana! You just might want to be a bit more agressive in your playing. That's just my opinion, but I think that that would fit in really well with your style.
let you in on a little secret jqarvue. if you're playing "poinciana" from an artistic point of view you incorporate the upright bass, drums with brushes and take it straight ahead. if you're playing this out at a gig with your local band, might want to groove it this way, contemporary style.
Thanks. I'm not sure which parts you are referring to but I play a lot of voicings using fourths either in the key of the particular chord for that measure or 1/2 step away.
I do think so, and very nice try! You are raising the bar on the jazz piano contributions to Youtube. It is both interesting and educational to hear other players do the same song (three great Youtube Poinciana submissions that I know of). Your use of drum tracks is making me rethink how I will do future submisssions. Hmmm. Keep them coming.
Awesome- Can I please get chord progression and those lush chords ( and fills) your playing..please..gracias...uh oh- I stole the riff at 1:50... ; )

Poinciana is one of the first jazz songs I ever heard. The original live recording by Ahmad Jamal is timeless but love the way you grooved it.

Im looking for a good starter keyboard controller. Would you recommend the A-37? Isn't it "semi" weighted? Is that even important?

I own one A37,it is semi weighted, you are right

This is so smooth, and although it is Jamal, you can hear a touch of JOBIM/Brasil in the groove. Obrigado, I love it.

We just got a Novation for that very reason. It is, however, a midi controller only so everything is processed through FL Studio, Cakewalk etc.
You will have to phone around to find one usually.

Great stuff, McCoy Tyner is one of your favorite players i can tell. You sound really good even on that digital piano!
Are you playing regularily somewhere?
