@audyflow7 2 times 1/2 is 1. So it would = 1m which is just written m. It confused me at first too :).

@audyflow7 two halves equals one, and every variable when its alone has an "invisible" one in the front ( in this case the variable is m) So if two halves are 1m there is no need to write the one in the front. Hence, the m is alone

(If you've got (1/2)M and remove the 2 you get (1)M and since 1M=M it's unnecessary to write the '1')

@Sharkskillyou it is 2 because in this example the common denominator is 2. if your denominators were 4 and 8, your common denominator would be 8. then u multiply each sides of your equation. if the left side had the denominator of 4, then u multiply that side by 2, because 2x4=8. with the other side u would do nothing because 8x1=8. if this isnt quite clear then reply to this and i will get it in my inbox. tell me what you need explained more and i can help you out.
