This aired 5 years ago. I was going through a really hard time. I WAS a "young girl." who was "weary" and "wearing that same old shaggy dress." and All I needed was "a little tenderness," which I wasn't getting. I had never heard this song before, but the lyrics resonated with my life at the time and I connected to it immediately. I know it sounds corny, but I clung to this performancee and all these years later it still makes my eyes fill up with tears. That's what music is all about.

Taylor won not only because he had a great voice- he won because he was by far the most riveting stage performer of that or any other season. The only other Idol who has ever come close to that stage presence is Fantasia. Yes, they both deserved to win because they were true originals.

Well..lets see...his CD went Platinum. He's got two new ones due out soon,and a DVD. This summer he'll be on Broadway. He's just returning from Italy. He's in the Alabama Hall of fame along with many artists who are Taylor's idols. He's brought joy into the lives of children and adults alike, and touching people's heats one soul at a time. Taylor nailed it- this performance was one of the top 10 in idol history. The judges knew what they were talking about. Taylor Hicks has a great mix of rock and soul- the most original contestant and winner ever.

This is a disgrace to Otis Redding's song. The band is even more horrible. He shoulda just left it to Otis or Chris Brown. And the judges are even more stupid!!! Simon should have said a hideous performance!!

I probably would not have voted for Taylor if I had watched Idol back then based on all of the performances I've seen on You Tube. He has a great new song called "What's Right is Right" that I really love I wish they would play it on the radio

As I said I wish I was watching Idol back then. A lot of people say that Daughtry should have won but I think that Taylor is just as deserving of the title as Daughtry is. I only started in the 7th season, I can't wait for Idol Rewind of season 5.

Taylor won not only because he had a great voice- he won because he was by far the most riveting stage performer of that or any other season. The only other Idol who has ever come close to that stage presence is Fantasia. Yes, they both deserved to win because they were true originals.
Every season you can argue that so & so should have won because they could sing better than the winner, but good voices alone are boring, especially on a TV show.

continued, after that year they usually fall. However C. Underwood is still doing great, but it's like I said, to many kathrine Mcfee's on stage, people want something new.
Regardless on what you think, Taylor delivered, end of story. He does have a voice but the song needs to be within his range for that voice to carry. I liked Criss Daughtrey when he was on stage but I knew which route he was going to go.
If you would go to a Taylor Hicks show, you would understand why people like him.

How is he trying to hard? Personally, I think he is a great entertainer and we need more people like that on stage so people can have a good time at a show. I don't like going to show and seeing a woman with a pretty voice but instead of moving around she is standing in one spot. Taylor interacts with the crowd and on top of all that you have just a great time at his show.
Go to his show before you judge anything at all. His shows are extremely fun to be at.

I just don't understand why you are still whining about Taylor winnning. He won because he but hi all in his performance. He was by far the best performer. People don't want to just watch someone stand there and sing. They want to be intertained and Taylor did that better then anyone. Time to over the fact that Taylor won. He won fair and aquare.

There is no "Real Winner", who won is who won. Even if Taylor Hicks didn't win, the Soul patrol would love him still since he has performed all his songs to please his fanbase while having fun doing it. Plus, what is an "American Idol's" voice supposed to be? Fantasia has a strangely high pitched voice but great technical talent. Kelly/Carrie/Jordin sound like anyone else on the radio. I'd rather have an awesome know-how in using voice than another radio champ.

There are reasons why some of them are doing a lot better. Before you go on a rampage about taylor hicks, you should know that he didn't go through certain labels. big companies take control of a person's song and it usually is for the worse. All the new bands coming out are only good until those big record companies get ahold of them, then there cd is good for one year.
plus, we already have to many kathrine Mcfee's around in the music business, sorry but she was nothing new at all.

Well..lets see...his CD went Platinum. He's got two new ones due out soon,and a DVD. This summer he'll be on Broadway. He's just returning from Italy. He's in the Alabama Hall of fame along with many artists who are Taylor's idols. He's brought joy into the lives of children and adults alike, and touching people's heats one soul at a time. Yes, I guess he has not done very much on the last two years. Amdiamo Taylor! See you on Broadway this summer. OPA!

He was on Jay Leno four times, Ellen twice, Doc Phil, White House Christmas, The View twice, and the morning shows, Carsen Daley, Martha Stewart . He also wrote a book called "Heart Full Of Soul". He also performed on asian Idol. He performed or sang the national athem at the Orange Bowl, nascar car, college football games, NBA, NFL.
