  • My favorite REO song and lo and behold Kevin isn't singing it.

  • This is the ONLY REO song I've ever liked.

  • Supernatural rocks! :DD

  • there is another song the samples the riff does anyone know what its called\ what im talking about?

  • Happy Holidays to All!

I LOATHE REO SPEEDWAGON, BUT THIS IS THE SONG THAT THE 'BIGGEST DOUCHEBAG ON THE PLANET' WAS DANCING TO.

  • @TheIncredibleDrAss Don't be so hard on yourself!

  • Several years ago, my husbands band warmed REO up in Wisconsin. My sister and I had backstage passes. When REO showed up in their limo, their bouncers came over to us and said the band would not get out until we left the stage area...serious...They have to remember who bought their albums and put them where they were...

  • SUPERBOWL OF ROCK CHICAGO 77 REO WAS THE BEST

  • Bruce Hall's masterpiece here. He wrote it, lead vocals on the studio album and in concert. In early 1973, I bought both albums at once - REO SPEEDWAGON and the best rock album of all time, REO TWO. Just 16 songs. Gary did both albums. Kevin did TWO and created HIS masterpieces and bolted. Didn't see him perform live until 1976 when he returned better than ever. ALL lineups from 1971-2011 are WORLD CLASS musicians, but many fans dislike the songs after 1982. Those first 16 may be all we need.

  • i had a white trash friend who ripped off my car stereo and punctured my car tire not long after i had this cassette.

    cassettes!

and now at age 52 listening to this while wasted on cheap wine, in the poconos.

  • Great song. The video sucks.

  • haha, why is this in the "Syd Barrett - The Madcap Laughs" Playlist? ^^

  • my hometown band... urbana,il. they used to practise in a shop on lincoln ave. next door was a fire house with an old reo firetruck nicknamed the speedwagon. hence r. e. o. speedwagon

  • This was easily the best song by REO! Them Kevin Cronin turned it all into a bunch of whiny pansy crap.

  • The song and the video do not match. I like this song a lot anyway.

  • If you dislike this you are JELOUS

  • if you dislike this, your a bad guy!

  • As the Sklar Brothers deftly stated - REO Speedwagon is "straight man's cabaret".

  • I remember hearing Bruce Hall (the song writer and bass player for REO) do this song with the Jesse Ross Band at the Red Lion in Champaign before he joined REO. They also performed his song, Mid-State Illinois Blues, a much better song in my opinion that REO never screwed up by re-arranging it,.

  • Ahhhhhhhhhh Good Times, Good Times! Miss the old days.

  • That song has always been permanently embedded in my memory.

  • I grew up in Peoria Illinois and I know Gary Richrath and his sister and his mom. They are normal people that loves to do what they do best. Gary is a very accomplished guitarist and even thougfh some members may be gay...what the hell, you've got a us senator posting on twitter and not even getting arrested, had been one of us we would be on the sex register...for life..screw this country and all you who are hypocrites

  • @MH88881 Hey there - - - I'm a big Gary Richrath fan, alot having to do with the other-wordly monster riffs rules on B.O.T.R.A. ... *I was just wondering: How is Gary R. nowadays? Is he still playing or producing any music at all? I had read somewhere that he was experiencing some health / personal problems which kept him from ever re-joining with his old bandmates in REO. *Could u give me any update / info on his present activity? That would be great. Thanks! J.H.

  • @MH88881 I grew up there, too. Actually, Gary was from EP and Eric,, his kid,, was a great guy, too! My sis went to school with Gary, I went to school with Eric.

  • THE BEST ROCKIN SONG BY REO....

  • god i feel like buying an old chevy playing this song on the cassette player and driving down a straight road forever!

  • I love tou Kevin Shinabarger!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I don't think anyone in REO is gay(literally)....I read that Neil Doughty is the only remaining origional member of the band. Can anyone confirm this?

  • @Vacmasterthegreat ,Bruce Hall is the only one close to being original, from the early 70's

  • @Vacmasterthegreat ,Bruce Hall is the only one close to being original, from the early 70's ,but he isnt even original, but the closet

  • Cronin is a total "jerk" for kicking Gary out. The only way for REO to return to their glory days of rock royalty is to let Gary rejoin the group which Cronin has refused to do.REO "WAS" ROCK!!! Now REO is just another 3rd rate washed up band living on the glamour of the Richrath era. Cronin, your glory days are OVER.

  • @ExDemocrat64: Cronin has a bad case of megalomania; always has...

  • i agree best REO song

  • Reo kicked ass back in the day....Gary fricken rocked.....

  • I'm not a fan of Reo, but my mom is. And this is the only song we both sing along to :D

  • Rob Halford is gay too, and Judas Priest still kicks ass

  • listen to this song right now while cleaning ;)

  • this is BY FAR their best song they EVER made!!!!!!!!

  • play this song at least 6 times a day-love it=reminds me when I was in my teens:)

  • recuerdo cuando vinieron a venezuela en la plaza de toros de valencia....fue increible

  • This and Riding The Storm Out pretty much define their best in my opinion. Great songs both.

  • the guitar solo is amazing

  • i wish i could play the cover for this song...DANG!!!!

  • 4 People doesnt like travel xD!

  • wHAT I TOLD MY EX WIFE WHEN I LEFT HER

  • old school muscle car, wide open desert highway...life doesnt get any better than that!!!!!

  • My husband and I watched their concert @ Durham Fair in Connecticut a couple hours ago... REO SPEEDWAGON ROCKS....yeah!!! o",)

  • Yes, they rocked hard as well...oh yes.

  • GREAT SONG ! , before they became pop assholes and ruined a perfectly great rock band !

  • dlew71662, that is the BEST summation of the current state of REO that I have ever heard. It is most assuredly a crumbled shell of it's former self without the "R". Come out of hiding Gary.

  • Best song they did thanks bruceee !!!!!!!!!

  • kevin was a music teacher with a degree in music theory....he put a great band together. one of the greatest bands of all time!

  • REO isnt REO without the 'R'

  • REO FUCKING ROCKS ........This tune one of my faves, takes me back,....way back. Sure miss Gary, not the same band anymore, but hell things change......that's life I guess. Thanks for post.....

  • my fav reo song.bruster the bass player should be singing more,no offenents to kevin but.....on the road i have been and a almost listen to this song everyhight to get my head straight.to bad for gary but new guitarist kicks ass good to.

  • i fucken love this song and im not gay but if i have to be to listen ok this song fucken kicks ass thank you dont fucking judge people unless your perfect bitches

  • @ninjamastuh I hope you aren't directing this remark at what i wrote above-I also love this song and REO Speedwagon-I have been listening to this song since it came out over 30 years ago

  • this song kicks ass yeah i just remembered how old i am wow

  • was downhill from this song, waste of a good r and b band

  • This song reminds me of high school, my buds, my car and Southern Comfort...

  • this song was written because the crowd rushed the stage and a helicopter had to pickup the band and he didn't get to say "bye" to his girl...

  • Guess who is back!

  • i don't care if reo speedwagon was a band from mars and little green men-i still love their music-i have been a die hard fan of theirs for over 30 years

  • all you jackasses this band is hetro and I toured with them for 2 years so I will vouch for them....not that I need to.......frankwhite52

  • I never thought the dude singing this sounded like Kevin Cronin. Did another member of the band just take the vocals on this tune?

  • Thought Gary sang this??

  • most of the time it shows kevin singin... bad vid... sry

  • Great Song! REO was truly a Great band!

  • this song appeared in supernatural ♥

  • Fantastic song!ClassicHard and Aor Forever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Reo cassette

  • Oh man, my favorite REO tune, right on! Hall's voice was perfect for the song. They were a kickassed jam band before the genre existed...at least up till Cronin turned them into a pop ballad band.

  • I love this band-:)

  • EVEN if someone was gay from REO, what does it matter? It doesn't matter-they still are a great rock band....

  • Comment removed

  • @RockingMom1957 agreed! :D queen was gay too, he is a f*cking rock legend! ^^

  • @RockingMom1957 someone was gay ? who?

  • @zr24X4ROCKS no one is

  • my comment was made in regards to a post from someone else.....over a year ago...to me it doesn't make a difference if a person is gay or not--talent is talent......

  • @RockingMom1957 That's like saying Elton John's music wasn't good, because he was gay, but IMO he gave us the best song ever, Saturday Night's Alright For Fighting.

  • @19torento SMOKE THAT POLE ELTON....

  • @MrFedexslave Elton John smokes the pole almost as well as he plays the piano. ^_^

  • if they were Gay then it says a lot about you .

R.E.O WAS AND WILL ALWAYS BE A GREAT BAND maby yer doing it all {{ buoɹʍ }}..better yet get off the page and let people live their lives the way they want ...man have you got a lot of growing up to do .

  • wow this video is available to extract on that site mp4ify as mp3 or mp4 files - google mp4ify

  • they were and still are more gay than michael bolton......BUT this song is the very best that they had to offer, cool song

  • @slickdaddy2010 Best they had to offer? Roll with the changes? among others..My music growing up & now never gets clouded by who sings it or what they do... I always loved the song "I want to break free" by queen but if pay attn to all the other crazy stuff about them it takes away from what i like hearing... Im not for gays and dont support them, all i want is the music :)

  • Kevin made the band gay.

  • He made them rich.

  • A great song from their best period...Love the whole "9 lives" album - there was somethin' special in it....bye bye,baby...

  • @beyondtheveilofdeath My favorite song from REO as well. Richrath and Cronin had genuine chemistry majic, it was evident on all the songs they co-wrote and performed before the pop-glam mode kicked in in the 80's. Too bad they parted ways, would love to see Gary back with the band. It probably needs to happen for REO to ever get back on track, even though I think their current guitarist is great. Just with Richrath there was a balance that does not exist now.

  • What song is this video for?

Clearly, it is not 'Back on the Road Again' as Bruce Hall is not singing the lead vocal.

  • This is a great song, this is when they rocked! then that kevin dude starting singing like a wussy

  • Strangely, this song reminds me of high school and the time my best bud and I went for a drive in my car and we polished off a bottle of SOUTHERN COMFORT! Good days (and no hangover)!! Thanks for the post!

  • REO definitely made their mark in history, and that mark was a bout 20 some years ago. They're just not the same anymore...

  • You are right.. Are you the same? Me either.. hey shoulda quit when they were ahead!

  • this song is especially addicting to ppl in a relationship that rly need to have their own space. trust me im married and i listen to it every day...hoping

  • why does this song have to be so addicting!?!

  • I know what you mean 52levi- :)

    love this song

  • i mean what happened to today's music? it's all talk and no soul. i mean the lyrics can be really meaning full still but just hte beats and what not. i like old time stuff and i'm 12!

  • this "old timer" (me) agrees with you levi :)

  • I'm in love with this song and band!

  • Audio & video are from 2 songs!!! Can't fix this one!!!

  • hi RockinDad1957 I bet seeing REO was worth every penny :)

  • Has anyone seen REO Speedwagon in concert?

  • About 8 times dating back to 1974 and worth every penney.

    Rockin' Dad 1957

  • i will this saturday I"m sooooooooooooooo excited!

  • to xoxoxobaby02--wow have a great time ! I am envious :)

  • I'll see ya' there! Driving three hours and spending the weekend in Deerborn, so excited, this'll be my first Reo concert, I've seen Foreigner, Elton John (multiple times) and Styx (multiple times), and I'm only 15

  • Is that Deerborn Michigan?

  • yes once in my late 20's great time.maybe they'll be around here again sometime.

  • Yes every year ! AWESOME !! Worth every penny!!!!

  • yes I seen them 14 times from 73-82.. . not the same band without Gary

  • in my band im the bassist, normally i sing back up and chorus. i would have to insist that the shows start with this song as i sung it ;) tyvvvvvvm 4 thee post!

  • My 24 yr. old son has never heard this song be4-I played it -he thinks it sounds pretty good :)

  • One of the best songs they ever did

  • i hear ya wild cmon young folks

  • I wish someone had the video that is in sync with the band. Come on guys you have the technology. You young masters...please step up and fix it right..thx man

  • This is the last good song ever recorded by REO. Kevin Cronin sucks ass and ruined the band with his whimpy sissy love songs. Gary could play guitar with the best of the best and should get off his fat ass and take his band back.

  • Probably THE best Reo Speedwagon rocker of all time, but does Kevin do his version as well?

  • Best Reo tune. Bruces voice is great. Always loved Garys playing. The world was a better place.

  • sweeeet

  • Another GREAT Rock Band and song !!

  • the lead plays lights out

  • Comment removed

  • I love how my favourite REO song wasn't sang by Kevin. This song is amazing.

  • 67 gto would go

  • reminds me of the "good" old days of rocknroll

  • My all-tinme favorite song!

    ROCK ON REO!

  • One of my favorite little lead solo licks in this one! Great song.

  • Oh my god are you kidding?

Its not even a contest, Mustangs could talk that shit ass camaro anyday. Have u seen the new camaros, the front looks like a fuckin teepe. THE BEST CAR EVER : MUSTANG SHELBY, camaros suck balls

  • I wonder if Michael Jackson and Eddie Van Halen had heard this when they recorded Beat It?

  • My hands down fave-rave from the original "Jam Band" back when they were still rockers and "Balladitis" set in!

Great stuff! Don't know where you found this gem, but it's a diamond and platinum special. Thanks man!

  • at 2:18 - 2:22 looks like he was hittin the toots a little hard before the show... saw these guys dozen? times, always rocked , saw them in tiny place in phoenix, then couple years later at a show in L.A. at the Coliseum - with Cheap Trix, BlackSabbath (and it stormed and was lightning just as Sabbath came on-so bitchin dude) and who else ??? either way those shows were all amazing, everytime you went to see a band back then you were blown away. they'd be your favorite til next band showed up!!

  • Believe it or not, I'm listening to this on the very same 1968 vintage Packard-Bell stereo I heard this on for the very first time...the stereo sounds better than the Bose surround sound system I bought two years ago, at least on the pre-1985 stuff. Too bad the lead singer of REO was such an asshole. The band was fantastic!

  • Saw these guys many times. Very professional, great sound. Saw them around "69" or "70" in Marion , Ohio, at a movie theater. The crowd crashed the doors , REO tore the place up. you knew they were going to be around for awhile. Our luck.

  • it sounds like beat it!

  • How?

  • this so is a little older then beat it....so it could be that beat it sounds like this song.

  • Had a T top 5 speed camaro loved to jam the gears with this song cranked up!!

  • camaros suck.....

  • u must be a 5.0 mustang faggett.

  • 1st, if it was not for the Mustang, then you would not have the shibox camaro,

2nd, My 427 Cobra would waste you women car.

  • wrong cubic inch and model, but I got the mustang faggett dead on.I knew It thanx!

  • like I said, if it was not for the Mustang, then you would not have the shibox camaro, ...and stop saying faggot, I dont want to hear about your personel life.

camaros are for guys hung like a flea & fat girls.

  • DUDE GET A LIFE! ( and a pontiac )

    Firebird/Gto best cars ever made

  • is that why Pontiac is all but gone. Soon to be scaped!

  • if Firebird/Gto are the best cars ever made.......then why dont they make them anymore?

And Avater is right, Pontiac is gone, BYE BYE!

  • Pontiac is going to be like Oldsmobile & Plymouth....history!

  • Always a goody

  • I had this back in '79 Still is tooo cool. Strange how you can remember all the words after so long.

  • When was "back on the road again" released ? Was it earlier tnen "Beat It" release ?!

  • 1979

  • Hey xoffie that's Gary Richrath who made that intro riff on "Back on the Road Again" from Reo's "Nine Lives" album. Yea i remember when Jackson's "Beat It" came out in 83, thinking Eddie Van Halen copied Gary's riff from BOTRA. You got a good ear for music to mention that.

  • Intro riff sounds like riff in Beat It , not Dirty Diana!

  • This song reminds me of Cruising around Marquette Park back in the early '80's long before the neighborhood went to "hell".

If you grew up on the South West side of Chicago you know what I'm talking about.

  • OMG you lived around Marquette park, I grew up in that area..

  • Awesome song, Awesome band, proud to be from the area where it all began. :)

  • Also my favorite REO tune. K Cronin made them famous but never did much for me.

  • Exactly, like Steve Perry from Journey, Outsider Leads to Fame, Becomes Demise of Band... (even though they both rocked for a second)...

  • Probably my favorite REO song ever. Thanks for the post.

  • Yeah. I'm from Cali and I'm 25. When I heard this song when I was little, I didn't know who it was by. Now, REO kicks ass!! Thanks Bruce

  • after joining YouTube had this tune in my head for ages but couldn't remember who sang it. Good old YouTube came up trumps again. Loved the riff an guitar solo. Great to dance an headbang to lol.

  • Does anyobody know where this song is from?

The guitar riff in the beginning is exactly the same as in Michael Jackson's Dirty Diana.

  • umm no. i dont think it is the same.

  • Dirty Diana is a good song.

  • Hey, I once heard a song called "Back on the Road". I'm searching that song but I don't know the band's name... They wearing white suits and the singer had a silver face(mask or make-up). Does anyone know this band? Please reply!

    Thanks

  • I saw Reo with Styx and Def Leppard in Atlantic City and they were all amazing! Can't wait to see them again!Bruce Hall was actually in the waiting area with us!

  • REO is gonna be at the Zoo Ampitheatre on Mothers Day and I'm taking my Moma. She enjoys REO. She took me and some friends to see them about 30 years ago when we were young teens and just loved them. That's where I met my wife to be, now I mean. She really loves this song, hope they do it.

  • i saw reo with styx and def leppard last week in estero, fl. you will love the reo show...they sounded great and were a blast.

  • In OKc?

  • Yep! With Night Ranger on Mothers Day.

  • sweet, I am from Okc basically, wish I could take my sweety and come down for the show. Have a good one.

  • REO rules! Going to see them with Styx, and Def Lep. in Detroit, Michigan on April 19. Can't wait.

  • i just saw the 3 of them last week. u have no idea how good of a time you're going to have!

  • bruce hall is the shit

  • I think thats the greatest guitar riff ever- the dunt donnu dunn nu. The guitar you first hear at the beginning of the song. Obviously created by Gary Richrath. Even though its Bruce Halls song.

  • Ah...REO. Probably not many here who have been listening to REO since the early 70s...yes, I'm old! ;) My fav back then, as was with many of us, was Riding the Storm Out. I don't recall ever listening to Back on the Road Again, & didn't even know who it was when I heard it on KSHE-95 the other day. Shameful, I know. But anyway, I know now, & am going to dl it to my music player. Old Rock'n'Roller & proud of it! Kay

  • This song frickin rules, and now i FINALLY know what band recorded it...

    GREAT VOICE!!

  • BEST REO only song worth playing
