the lyrics of this old old traditional song are words of a dead warrior:hei boys brave boys/boys of Samarina(the name of village st.marina)/hei boys poor boys/no mater you`r dirty(in blood)/when you`ll go to mountains /close to Samarina/hei boys poor boys/no mater you`r dirty/if ask my mother end my poor sister/hei boys poor boys /no mater you`r dirty/don`t tell that i`m killed/bat tell them i`m just wounded/hei boys poor boys/no mater you`r dirty....
@kalispera64 Τhis song is from my village Samarina. It's lyrics talk about the warriors of Samarina (all of them were young men) that were sent to Messologi in order to defend it from being taken by the Turks that had it sieged. In the song one of the warriors that was fatally wounded is requesting from the remaining men (from 150 sent there only 15 lived to return back to the village) not to tell his mother and his sister that he is wounded and he is about to die.
@kalispera64 Yes it's a sad thing that young men died. The good thing is that they died for a cause they believed in and their sacrifice was finally rewarded with the liberation of Greece from the Ottoman Empire and the foundation of the Greek nation. Even though it's a relatively old song, everytime I listen to it I get a strange feeling (both sad and proud at the same time). search for Samarina on google and you will see that the location of the village is amazingly beautiful

Thanks a lot for posting the lyrics for me,gerasilaos!!
Doesn't it lack the part where Nana sings:''not to tell his mother and his sister that he is wounded and he is about to die''?
I ask you because don't see that part.
I will be practicing my Greek by singing this song!!
Oh,by the way, when I sing in Greek,my friends ask me: ''What are you singing,Fabian?'',or ''What language are you singing in?'',then I answer:''I am singing in Greek, because I like Greek language''
One of the highlights that warm summer night - the crowd were pleasantly surprised that Nana sang this anti war song (hence the applause throughout the song) and they went wild at the end the clip does not do justice to the electric atmosphere at the end of the song!!!

Thanks a lot for your information, gerasilaos!!
It's good to know about the translation of this lyrics,as we,who are not Greek, can understand its meaning.
So,this lyrics is talking about a real life tragedy in Samarinas,Greece?
It's a sad story, because young boys died in hands of Turks.
Nana was outstanding by singing this song!!
I really love the musical arrangements and the heavenly voice to Nana!!
Greetings from MEXICO!!

@gerasilaos
Yeah,I guess that is quite sad,but they really became the big heros who defended Greece, and they gave their life for their country.
I ignore when that had happened,as you tell me it's an old song, and I guess that should have been many years ago.
I guess you all Greek people must be proud of them, but sad at the same time.
It's not easy to forget what they did!!
They fought against the Turks like real men!!
May GOD bless them in Heaven!!

Could you post the lyrics to this song in Greek, please?
You know?,I have been looking for this lyrics, and haven't been able to find it.
I can read in Greek, since I have been getting familiar with its grammar,so can sing this song in that language.
I am 100% Mexican, but love Greek music and its language!!
Greece has given this world its great music and smart people!!

@kalispera64 Τhe lyrics you want are ''Μην πείτε πώς μωρέ λαβώθηκα (instead of εχάθηκα)(λαβώθηκα=wounded),πως είμαι σκοτωμένος μωρέ παιδιά καημένα''
