  • @JustAnotherGay96

Exactly, most vehicles didn't start excelling in side impacts until around 2005 when Side-Impact airbags became big.

  • @JustAnotherGay96 The Second generation got good marks from NHTSA. The Taurus's only downside was it's lack of side-impact safety.

  • @JustAnotherGay96

The reason for the poor performance is because it hit high on the front. The lower frame wasn't able to absorb any of the impact. The Ford Taurus has always been a name for Auto Safety. It was one of the first AMERICAN cars to earn five stars and a "GOOD" rating in crash testing.

  • the 1986-1991 Ford Taurus was assembled in

    Hapeville, Georgia, United States

    Chicago, Illinois, United States

  • The passenger cage appeared to have held up quite well.

  • @Toni7859 Quite well? looks like the engine/transmission compartment shoved into both legs & he suffered major head injury from the steering wheel. This is quite terrible.

  • @madjimms - lol, true, guess I should have said the a-pillars held up well....

  • @madjimms considering the weight and force behind the trailer going 40mph it did stand up well for those standards back then the cabin is still intact when most crs of that era would have faired much worse.
