XGL / Compiz with Twinview on Ubuntu Edgy Eft

actually as of the 29th intorduced in "beta1" of edgy eft you no longer need xgl or aiglx with the beta Nvidia driver it has built in support this allows compiz/beryl to now run directly on an x server (xorg7.1) I will post a new video showing off all of Beryls new features it is a bit buggy it was rock stable until I adjusted the options.

the problem i had with xgl and twinview was that fact that when you launched an application it would spawn inbetween monitors? has this been corrected with aiglx?

That is because you are using xinerama please modify your /etc/X11/xorg.conf and chance the xinerama = 1 or true to 0 or false

Nice Desktop. Resolution?

1 Question about Compiz: Can you use movies (mpeg) as wallpaper AND skybox (dome, whatever ;)?

Resolution is 1024 X 768 X 2 (2048 X 768) never tried to set a mpg as background however I have seen clips posted of people using a screensaver as a background. I have changed the skydome to a panoramic pool which I resized in Gimp to support this resolution. I am unsure if you can use animated gifs or what have you as the backdrop.

I have started a howto on ubuntu forums do a search for TheeMahn2003 posts there; YouTube wont let me post you direct links, Edgy Eft @ it finest is the title of the post it will get you setup minus the XGL / Twinview. There are many posts to assist with setting up ATI video as well as Nvidia to work with XGL & twinview through-out the forum. I hope I have been of some help.
