Peter Pratt was a better singer and actor. Reed was very good but never great, although his best role was John Wellington Wells, which he played with a very sly sense of humour. He always just seemed to be going through the motions in certain roles. When he left the Carte he certainly became more interesting, due to the fact that he was let off the tight leash that was the D'Oyly Carte. Certainly no-one came near Green,Pratt and Reed afterwards.
Thank you so much for putting this hard to find John Reed performance on Youtube! I've loved his singing for years but I've never SEEN him singing until now - and he was as great as I'd thought he'd be!!! Thank you!!!

Sorry, but as good as John was, the greatest of them all was Martyn Green.

@icookson They both had different strengths and weaknesses. I myself prefer Green's Ko-Ko, but not by much. They were both truly great performers.

John Reed is by far the best Ko-Ko ever.
