  • Looks like expesive composting to me

  • I wonder how much electricity this thing uses?

  • @christo930 $0.50 per month or $6 per year. Really expensive.

  • @pepsi458 .50 a month? How many watts does it use?

  • @christo930 About 5 which as I said is about $0.50 a month of $6 a year.

  • @pepsi458 It's more trouble than it's worth.

  • @christo930 Cheapskate

  • @pepsi458 It's not cheapness, it just isn't worth all the hassle.

  • @christo930 Yes because throwing away food into a container and taking it out when it fills up is a hassle you never have to deal with.

  • @pepsi458 Like cutting up the garbage, having to measure things out to mix in, maxing sure your ratios are correct etc.

  • @christo930 You don't really have to do that if you know what you doing. Read the instructions.

  • @pepsi458 I don't have one. I had a compost pile last year and I put all my grass clippings, coffee grinds, brown leaves and some other random organic stuff and it worked fine. Most of us simply don't create enough garbage for it to really be worth it. Lawn clippings and such stuff is where we need composting and we can do it outside without any of this stuff.

  • Just a caution about the newer models, the XE Plus and Pro (sold August 2009 and later) ... The option to manually start the mixing bar shown at 3:20 in this video IS NOT avaialble by pushing the OK button.

Pushing the OK button on the XE models, starts the transfer from the mixing chamber to the lower tray.

If you have an XE, ONLY push the OK button when you want to transfer compost.
