WOW,i had that model for a couple of months worked great but i decided to upgrade now i just replaced the 9 volt with a 12 volt car battery and i hooked up a flux capacitor to the back of the calculator and swapped the cds to a beefier stainless steel dog dish now im the cool kid on the block this bad boy pulled up a submarine out of the water

well according to wikipedia, CD's contain a small layer of aluminum, silver, gold or a silver alloy meaning it does indeed contain a conductiing metal. though those layers are coated with a hard laquer to proctect it. But it could be possible that the static field the cirquit of the calculator produces is conducted or reacted to in some way by the metal layer on the CD and DVD and thus creating some static when near another metal which is hearable through your earphones.

LOL!! one big problem.. the headphones run on ac and the battery is dc + calculator does nothing but the setup is correct.. use a radio and set the radio to the headphones turn on ac and the lowest frequncy you can.. get a led and hook up to the speaker of radio and you have a metal detector.. led flashes when moving over metal..

The discs are plastic that WILL NOT conduct anything

The ends of the wire are also insulated with a laquer coating so that will also NOT conduct.

So this means the whole CD crap is totally useless, furthermore;

The headphones have no way of picking up a frequency at all and arent gonna pick up anything from the calculator or any other field.

I cant believe some people fall for this..

The wires ARE coated, if not both would short out inside the insulative sleeve. The power from the battery isnt moving energy through any circuits because theres no conductivity in several points of this fake circuit.

A 9 volt battery is 9 volts.

An AA battery is 1.5 volts(1.3 is rechargable.)

If you want to use AAs you'd need 6 of them. Or you could use more than 6 for more power.
