  • Some of this music seems to based on pieces by Claude Gervaise.

  • verry nice!

  • I'm now playing these pieces, I love them :)

  • For me this is a disappointment. It does not sound like Poulenc because the harmony lacks inventiveness and charm. I prefer his "Trois Novelettes".

  • @JHJennings Each is entitled to there opinion but this does sound EXACTLY like Poulenc. The harmony is quite refined (very nice Lydian portions in Bransle and the Marche). And the piece has a great texture from the myriad of techniques he uses. Gabriel also captured the dynamics quite well. Overall, these are marvellous pieces and I hope you grow to see Poulenc's genius and appreciate these pieces eventually.

  • @Arrow9100kj Yup! You're right. I don't know what I was thinking, 7 mos. ago, but I do find this suite quite nice. The pieces are ANYTHING but disappointing and I wasn't able to hear that before. -- Having said that, I do think the harmony here is less typical of Poulenc's usual style. This is not to criticize but I find it much more traditional with fewer departures to the charming dissonances I'm used to. Thanks for reminding me of my earlier comment. It no longer applies.

  • @Arrow9100kj Hahaha.Im glad you love them now! Im crazy about Poulenc's style! His pieces are all so modern sounding!
