Did you know that people of color represent 71% of the AIDS cases, with Black people representing 49% of the nation’s cases. Blacks are the only group whereby the # of AIDS cases have been increasing yearly.

Our educational efforts to reach the Black students in these minority neighborhoods (especially in the very poor areas) have met with much resistance, due to a strong underlying homophobia often associated with these communities. As a result, unsafe sex & drug practices are prevalent.
@CharlieBoyCheckm Pressure on Black males to remain on the “Down Low” (in the closet) for fear of dangerous reprisals has also resulted in their reluctance to seek important information about safe sex & drug practices, along with a reticence to seek out HIV testing. Living on the down low has also lead many to lead duel lives (gay & straight), thereby infecting many black women. Black women with AIDS outnumber white women by a 5 to 1 ratio.
