I swear to God, all camera men back then should have been shot in the damn knee caps. He barely focuses on Randy. Nothing ticks me off more especially when the guitarist is playing a solo and the damn camera man zooms in on the bassist or the drummer.
When I first heard Crazy Train, I instantly ran out and bought the album. After listening to it over and over, I decided to pick up the guitar and really wanted to meet Randy. It wasn't until after I began to play that I learned he had died 5 years before I was even born.
i cant believe i am saying this BUT UNTIL THE LAST FEW SECONDS I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS IS RANDY! WHY CANT I DOWNLOAD ???? OW THE PAIN THE PAIN OF IT ALL THANKS AGAIN!
Went right over the average person's head, 'course this ain't hall an oats, or boy george, alot of people acted scared of this awesome music, perceptions were just as bent as they are now just in a different manner......
I realized the fact that people went to Ozzy's concert only to see him. It's very sad that a guitar icon only have his recognition after his sad death.I'm 18 and it's obvious that in 70's and 80's has the best guitarrists, and i think people were used to see good guitarrists. The important is that we all know Randy's work worth.
@AssDronha Unfortunately Randy didn't really get the recognition that he deserved until after his death. The majority of people who came to his concert's only went to see ozzy, which is why you only get a rare glance at him in these videos.
@achedrick1 Towards the end of the Diary tour (with Randy), a lot of people were going to see Randy. I was a kid then (Randy got me into guitar playing) and a lot of older musicians/guitar teachers hated Ozzy but loved Rhoads playing. There was a few articles from late 82 early 83 where Ozzy admitted as much. But it was mostly guitar players and musicians and not the general fan base.
@achedrick1 I don't know that I agree with that. Ozzy was the front man fur sure and was legendary from his Black Sabbath days, but Randy was brilliant and received plenty of accolades from rock fans for his incredible talent and unique style. I was fortunate to see him live in concert with Ozzy, and it was one of the best concerts I have ever seen. Anyone who saw Randy could not help but be completely blown away. He had a gift, he was special..
@AssDronha I have to disagree that he wasn't valued back then. I was around 13 in 81 when I went to see him and I know all the metal fans back then worshiped him. Granted he was new at the time and maybe the main stream hadn't quite caught on yet but he was appreciated by anyone who loved guitar at that time, No doubt! The reason you don't see many shots of him in this video is because that camera is on the opposite side from him.
@AssDronha I was 15 when he died but wasn't a fan until a few months later when I listened to Diary. If you were a fan back then all you had were a few pictures from Hit Parader or Circus. Nothing. It was a HUGE deal when a Randy poster finally came out in 1984. No video other than a $50 QR bootleg. Incredible what you see now. No one really knew who he was until the accident sadly.
OUTSTANDING! Even if only a few seconds close up of Randy. Thank you a achedrick1 for posting this clip from the set. Just a few short weeks after this show I was in the upper balcony at Reunion Arena in Dallas on Randy's side of the stage- While everyone else was yelling Ozzy- I was yelling RANDY!!!! RANDY!!!!. People thought I was nuts. But that night I became a fan for life.
THANKS , YOU RULE , I LOVE THE MR CROWLEY ALSO ! ROCK ON AND THANKS AGAIN WE NEED MORE ! I WAITED 30 YEARS TO SEE THIS , I WAS THERE AUG 1981 AND WISHED I COULD HAVE SEEN DIARY LIVE , ROCK ON .,ALZ
@cRACkmONKEyTTU - Of course not, not angry at all. LoL. I definitely know Randys' a dude. I have both original QR albums etc. & Live recordings of Ozzy with Randy also. Including this so-called New/Unreleased Live CD.. I've had the King Biscuit Flower Hour Show(both versions)for some 25 yrs. This is where they got the NEW LIVE Cd from & I've been listening to Ozzy since 1970 w/Sabbath. Ozzys voice was messed up in some shows due to the Rabies shots he had to take. Have a Groovy week! My Best.
@cRACkmONKEyTTU - Obviously, you don't know how to read a sentence correctly? I NEVER said Randy Rhoads was a She!! I've been playing guitar since I was 10 yrs old. (I'm 50) Much longer, I'm guessing, than you've been on this Earth.. To help you understand what I was saying, When I stated "He (or She)" meaning regardles who's playing Guitar, Man or Woman, the camera-person always goes to the other members of the band, NOT focusing on the Guitarists' Solo. Sure hope this helps U understand.
@DallasPix I agree with what you said completely, I was just being a smart ass. No need to get angry or nothin, but the way you worded it made it seem like you didnt know if RR was a guy or gal. Don't pay any attention to it. Performance wise though, it was pretty great guitarwise, but Ozzy has trouble singin this one. Shouldve focused more on Randy as you said.
This is great! the only thing I don't get, when the guitarist, any guitarist, goes into the solo, the camera-man, amateur or Professional, always goes the bass player, drummer or Singer, Away from the Guitarist while he (or she) is doing their 'solo'.. Never understood this!! Thanx for sharing tho!! Still great to see this.......
@DallasPix I can't believe you think that Randy Rhoads was maybe a she. One of the greatest rock guitarists to ever grace this planet. Glad that you like it atleast and I agree about the camerawork, but if you play guitar and said that to me, I would slap you.
@cRACkmONKEyTTU I don't think he was calling randy a she, I think he was just saying in general how cameramen do that, if he did I would have to track him done with a shotgun..
I swear to God, all camera men back then should have been shot in the damn knee caps. He barely focuses on Randy. Nothing ticks me off more especially when the guitarist is playing a solo and the damn camera man zooms in on the bassist or the drummer.

Note to self: Remember to always get a seat on the RIGHT side of the stage at an Ozzy concert.

I flew in from Michigan while attending Southwestern Indian
Polytechnic Institute - I assumed it sold out so I didn't even
attempt to buy tickets. Next day I found out from KWXL - 94
Rock then that tickets were left. Talk about being bummed out!
I did see him in late May - early June at Castle Farms in
Charlevoix Michigan - it was decent - rocked and all but just
stupid was I? I was worse then 5 hillbillies looking for Penny
candy at the party store - it wasn't happening Dude!
