Actually Something Corporate and Jack's Mannequin are the same band in a sense. Same lead singer. They are both his bands. Something Corporate was formed in 1998 and later down the road in 2004 Jack's Mannequin was formed as a side project by Andrew McMahon.

realistically, though, the two bands have different, though similar, sounds.

I'd classify Something Corporate as pop punk, and Jack's Mannequin as piano pop.

when i saw something corporate play on the north tour andrew explained that those were the original lyrics, but he thought he should change them for the actual recording of the song. So for ALL of those who have been scratching their heads about the lyric change, now you know.
