  • Good track but Joe Cocker's version is way better!

  • Well said.I fuckin hate that show.

  • musiclovers of this kind.....Delbert McClinton, same song and just as good ..maybe even better ! u decide ?

  • Different class

  • Ed Deane makes this...

  • In my opinion one of the best soul vocal performances ever, and so sadly overlooked by a lot of people. Frankie has got to be up there with otis, luther etc.

Was told a lot of stories about him from my dad who knew him and just so great to see exactly what he was talking about.

  • Nice to see someone else spotted Ed Deane as well. Great player!

  • The Ray Charles version is the best imo but it's been pulled from u tube. Frankie Miller's version is excelent.

  • Fantastic white soul voice. Perhaps the best. Beautiful understated and soulful guitar playing from the great Ed Deane too.

  • yes very nice vocal....

  • ach the we man is better than that.hail! hail!

  • Frankie Miller is the best!!!

  • Frankie was underrated, no doubt about that

  • every now and again I go looking for other versions of this song on youtube. But I keep coming back to this one... What a beautiful moment this is; I'm so glad it was caught on film. Tasty guitar playing too. But man, 2"49' through 3"11' just about brings me to tears every time. Awesome.

  • yes know who yes are

  • I have followed Frankie from the middle 70s as I used to work with his now ex brother in law, and he was brilliant live, the concert in Glasgow city halls in 1978 was great with his best pal the big yin (Billy Connolly) in attendance. He fell ill in 1994 and was in a coma but he managed to battle back but can no longer perform his skills. He was always at war with his record company over musical differences and this contributed to less exposure, He was better thought of in America than in UK.

  • Bobby Charles Guidry (deceased recently) wrote this along with classics like See you later alligator.

  • If any of these wannabees ever get close to a performance like this, hell will freeze over.

This remains one of thee best vocal performances of ALL time, period!

I was privileged to see this band the same might this was broadcast and i have never seen better.

  • THE WEE BIG MAN IS WAN I THE BEST SINGERS IN THE WORLD AND GLESGA. HE ONLY LIVED TAE SING. THE WHOLE OF GLASGOW STEPPED BEHIND FRANKE. HE KNEW WHAT HE WAS DOING. HE STAMPED FOR GLASGOW. AND THE WHOLE OF GLASGOW FOLOWED ON. WHY COS HE SANG THE RIGHT TUNEI

  • Delbert McClinton had a pretty good run with this. I'm fond of everyone's version.

  • this is pretty faithful to the Joe Cocker version from Stingray. It's a hard call, they both sing it so well. I'll go with Frankie cos his is live.

  • Bobby Charles RIP, he wrote this song.

  • I just wandered into some history shit, and read he suffered from an anuerism, and hes wheel chair bound, and gone.the photos kicked me in the chest.

I'm fuckin devastated,. What the Fuck!??

  • when was this recorded???

  • BBC studios Glasgow early 1982

  • Sexy, sexy voice, love him! Go Frankie! xox

  • Great Song Great Singer

  • This song is the bomb. No matter who the original artist was or who covered it, I ain't heard a bad version yet. This song rocks with the best.

  • if you like this then try Etta James's cover!

  • @oscarittofi still looking for that cover....

  • @undunboater unfortunately it's hard to find but it's worth the trouble. I wish I could give you a pointer other than that I think it's on a album called ''Sticking to my guns''

  • @oscarittofi Thanks so much I will take a look.....heard that Etta version on blues radio station and been looking ever since.....Not to dissapointed now that I have Freddie's version....LOVE THAT SONG!!!!

  • @undunboater Done much earlier, in the late 70s or early 80s by Delbert McClinton on his album entitled "THe Jealous Kind" Etta did a straight copy. Frankie Miller's version is GREAT!

  • Absolutely great.... My father sings this song and I absolutley love it.... You sing it well.... Great vocal and guitar =)

  • Much more Please, much more...

  • Easily the best vocal performance since Otis Redding's "Try a Little Tenderness" at Monterey Festival in '67. My pal Boab and I used to see Frankie Miller in The Stoics back in the late 60's in Sauchie and Alloa. Shit hot then, even better now. Rock on, wee man!

  • Great vocal and backing guitar. Does anybody know if there's a clip of the Ray Charles original?
