I think it strange that so many can miss the point. It was amazing that Pippi managed to find her way to the lodge, and just as amazing that she struck up close friendships with these other creatures. She is beautiful to boot. A typical Jack Russell may have reacted badly toward the meerkats, but Pipi is obviously not a typical dog. I'm glad that you all found one another.

how can people say this is wrong yet when it comes to pet birds they dont say the same this meerkat is having fun. dont forget even dogs used to be wild. as long as an animal is treated correctly and enjoys its life whats the problem?

As for the issue of domesticating a Meerkat I cannot see the problem. I would image it has an outstanding quality of life not worrying about the dangers in the wild.

Me too but its really sad seeing this, BTW Hamsters have been in captivity for hundreds of years and nowdays 99/100 hamsters are in captivity and have been bred there, with meerkats they are hardly ever pets so for this poor animal it would be like waking up in another world which it technically is. Plus Jack Russells are bred to kill and eat rats so this meerkat is basically waiting to be killed painfully.

no no no :o) I have Jack too, and i had a rat at home, and she was friend with him and we have a new rat and she scared of him :oD it is about how you teach your dog...this dog and a meercat are friends!! in the some way that some dogs can be friends with cats ;o) and i thing that this meercat was born in captivity too, as some hamster, so.....

I don't actually have a dog, my aunt has 5 Jack Russels though and they harvest rats like a tractor harvests seeds.

Pippi got seperated from her family and found her way to the Rostock Ritz Desert Lodge. Where she became friends with the meerkat. The cool part is Pippi is blind. So it's amazig that she traveled throught the desert and found a safe place to stay =)
