I feel the world's heart misses all uniquely gifted persons whether they are cogisant or not. He was a playful and hardworking learner, creator and innovator. I miss Mozart. Yet I see him in everything. He is still echoed here in this world. I hear that loss in this piece. He was very much.
@JoeB0y16 Probably yes, since it was a live performance in front of an audience. I can't tell here at the library where everything is supposed to be hush hush :) There might be a clearer version here at my channel from the 50th birthday cd.
@cuoylyf I had been reading Maynard Solomon's biography on Mozart. 1791 was the year of Mozart's death and I wondered what the world's reaction was at that time to his death. Did the world's heart ache? There's another piece called "Mozart in Love" which is a companion piece to this one.
I'm in year 9 and have chosen this piece to analyze as this song is extremely beautiful and haunting. I am having trouble figuring out the structure of the song, if possible could you please offer some assistance? Is it written in Sonata form?
Thanks so much and thank you for composing this magnificent piece!
Wow! so rarely do i find contemporary music that speaks honestly in an idiom that makes sense in our modern world. The string writing and development of the melody is outstanding. This music really deserves more airplay ,alas contemporary music has so few powerful exponents.I don't think i realized what an idel solo instrument the oboe is. .God, the cello and oboe together! This made a profound impression upon first hearing . cant wait to hear more!
I love the sound of the oboe, it is definitely one of my favourite instruments. I have been wanting to learn to play it for so long, but I guess I will have to wait till I am an adult. Beautiful piece, such a beautiful melody, fantastic performance as well.
really nice piece of music I must say! :D I admire it very much! :D love the oboe solo (haha of cours I do since I´m playing the oboe myself) :D very nice done!
Thanks you Jonathan! It should soon be released on CD. As you know 1791 was the year of Mozart's death. I'd just read Maynard Solomon's biography of Mozart and wondered a little what it was like at the time of Mozart's death - did the world's heart ache??
This is absolutely breathtaking. Profound simplicity. Beautiful conversation between strings and oboe. Thank you, Phillip!

@ASAngelo He was indeed hardworking. He said this of himself. I find some comfort in that. Most certainly he had a child's heart.
I think he was allowed the exact amount of time here to do what he had to do, no more, no less and was then simply called home.

I wasn't really conscious of any strict form when I wrote it. I wrote it in an afternoon - it happened quickly.
Would you like the score to study?
PhillipLWilcher 2 years ago
If that is possible, that would be absolutely fantastic!!!!!!!! As this assessment is due on monday.
Thank you so much!!!
Would you be able to sent it via Youtube?
Thanks again!!!!! xxoo

I can't send it via Youtube.
I was going to have my publisher send you the score. It's due this Monday??
