  • Somehow everytime i hear this song this song brings tears to my heart

down in the caroni plain the best 'Indian&Creole this type of race only live as one

    in Trinidad&Tobago :)

  • i love trini:))))

  • Its really a shame this placed second to a song preaching racial division (Black man allyuh look for dat) in the Calypso Monarch. Just goes to show where the priorities of our society is placed. Classic example. Jahaji Bhai yes.

  • If u do not like these lyrics, you are most likely a racist.

  • Whether you are an indian or a black man your comment tells a lot about you. With such an attitude we shall never get anywhere. I wish there were more like Brother Marvin. Preaching unity is far better than preaching hate and encouraging our baser instincts. Arriba Brother Marvin and those others like you.

  • Really a true classic!!!!!! when will we go back to a time like this????

  • real calypso - one of our best!

  • i love this song.it makes me proud to be a trini

  • Lol I love this song. Brings me back to my youth growing up in Trinidad.

  • This is really one of the best songs ever sung by a Trinidadian.

  • this type of song comes one in a lifetime, such meaning, such beauty, such power, this will forever be one of my all time favourites... "brotherhood of the boat"

  • One Love one heart. when ttt was still around

  • I cry to this song it is so wonderful we are a blessed people and thank GOD for Trinidad and Tobago and the people God put here thank you LORD.

  • this song always makes me feel to cry! United we stand and divided we fall!

  • this song always makes me feel to cry!

  • And I agree this song should have won that year. And to this day the judges aren't learning to have have integrity and award the rightful calypsonians 1st place. I remember dancing to this sonjg fot the talent section of Ms. Brownie Queen 1996 and winning...OH GOSH I GO CRY!

  • @annisaarthur2708 Yes! The whole country was expecting him to win!

  • thank you brother mavin for show us why we should be united as one poeple...........

  • ok i love really loved this song..what year was this?..TTT was still in existence ...wow.. Anyway, that one really loud, extra high-pitched, slightly off tune backup singer is really getting to me.....

  • @no1strawberricherri That "one really loud, extra high-pitched, slightly off tune backup singer" was the man little daughter. I wonder if you could do better?!

  • Mother Africa...Mother India...Mother Trinbago...I love everyone of my Queens!!!

  • @ato2000 i dont understand your comment...

do you hate this song or love it??????

  • this song makes me feel to cry... Reminds me of my childhood in the early 90's what a wonderful era.... Ps love TTT lol

  • this song makes me feel to cry...

  • it will be so good if all Trinis like myself adapt this way of thinking.

  • lol brother marvin ahahah. what a clown.

  • nice one says keith padarath

  • everything in this song is so original, the lyrics, composition, rendition, the music..the brass. When will we hear master strokes like this again? ?

  • This is a very Liberating Tune.. Sweet Soca...

  • @ato2000 you're saying the song is spolt and no good? Besides your father's influence, cause you're an adult now, what's your opinion?

As one author put it, Bro Marvin may not have wrote about the typical afro-trinidadian's history. It doesn't mean that any afro-trini didn't have such a history. The intention bro.marvin may have had,(esp cause unc had jus won) was to inculcate especially to afro-trinis, that nothing is wrong with an east indian to being PM cause they're our brothers.

  • Brother Marvin, I like the way your mind works, I would be grand if everybody would be thinking that realistic and be forward about it. Keep it up!

  • Brother I love the way your mind works. I like what you bring forward! It would be grand if everybody was so honest and realistic!

  • this right here is d greatest tune ever made... u cant help but sing or dance...

  • this is tune! where dis quality gone boi? lyrics, music, instrumentation on point!

  • this is a classic- Trinbago now needs it more than ever,

  • just luv this song , soo much memories

    nostalgic thank u

  • This is such an AWESOME Song.....It''s one of my favs and reminds me of our unique culture

  • This song is from "1996" The song placed second in the Calypso Monarch competition that year...Cro Cro placed first with "They Look For Dat" in which he belittles Afro-Trinidadian men (in particular) for failing to vote in the last election, thereby ensuring an "Indian" victory.

  • we won't ever make that mistake again!

  • @blueyeindian i remember this... this was highway robbery... all calypsosonians need to take a page from the books of Brother Marvin and Chalkdust and Gypsy, instead of trying to devide our soceity and write songs about people's personal lives like some panty men...

they need to grow up and uplift our soceity... Singing Sandra and voices from the Ghetto is a good example of this...

  • ah this was a good song...too bad GB give him good the next year with "Jahaji blues"

  • yes, i think it was 1997. Great song.

  • i think its da year 1997 or 98

  • naww i thinks it was WAY BEFORE!...prolly in the 80s...but not too suer EXACTLY when.

  • @3niEmpress it was 1996 right after UNC won the 1995 General Elections... Cro Cro get it for yuh look fuh dat... HIGHWAY robbery... Diamnche Gra should be banned for the bacchanalism and stupid talk it does encourage...

  • this song brings back so many memories of when i were growing up big up.

  • That year yhe monarch title went to Cro Cro, Marvin came second

  • @bumbalum who even remembers Cro Cro's song.. The judges were clearly biased

  • memories

  • i went to school whit his son and daughter she,s about 24 now

  • and yes the little girl is his daughter......would love to know what yr this was!!

  • @mohoganii 1996

  • Ramloogan, Basdeo, Prakash and I.....Jahaji bhai

  • This is a beautiful healing song for Trinbago, says a lot for intergration of our country. THANKS BROTHER.

  • This song is very factual for so many of us Trinbagonians with both Indian and African ancestors. Big up Africa, Big up India, Big up T&T! One Love.

  • great calypso, but really no factual

  • The little girl accompanying him is amazing. Is she still singing in T & T?

  • i know his daughter sings back up on the track but im not sure if its the same person

  • what year was this recorded?

  • this guy is my neighbor i swear to god....i just never knew he was famous

  • lol... hahahahaha... go get an autograph

  • Love this calypso bad.

  • BESS SONG!!!! happy independence day Trinidad and Tobago!!!!!!!!!!! long live the days of ttt!

  • The only reason why Brother Marvin didn't win that year is because Cro Cro was FLAWLESS in his two renditions!! This is definitley a classic.....

  • @foreignmovies do you even remember Cro Cro's songs?

  • real wicked tune !

  • maad tune!

  • This song brings back such sweet memories of my childhood... i remember watching this live performance live on tv6...

  • dis song is d best.a song about unity between Africans and Indians.

  • will never racial harmony in this country in my lifetime. probably not even my boys in their lifetime, but we have to continue trying.... you go brother marvin, happy arrival day to all

  • Actually we are probably one of the most harmonised nation in the world. There would always be ppl who will voice differences once its a cosmopolitan society, its a very natural thing. We already have unity ... am not sure how much more so we can get ...

  • this is one song my husband did not know and now he hooked on it

  • BIG TUNE !!! , NUFF SAID.......

  • wow its on youtube this is wicked...

  • Brother Marvin is still writing and singing wonderful music people. This calypso is diffinitely a classic and he will always be remembered for it. What alot of people dont know is that he is prolific writer and is responsible for alot of songs that we know and love sung by other calypsoians. Some of these fellow artiste do him the injustice of not giving him credit for writing the songs and pose as though they wrote them. However, keep listening Bro Marvin has recent songs that are wonderful.

  • Wonderful song my husband is an indian and I'm african and we have 4 beautiful dougla children

  • Thank you! Excelent calypso, we've been searching for this one for a while. Much gratitude!!
