@CCmachine I presume from your comments that you are vegetarian/vegan? In which case you'll more than understand and appreciate that an omelette is a brilliant base to for dozens of flavours. SORTED offers recipes as guidelines. Please adapt them to your own.
Okay.. I am gonna try this for dinner and hope for the best.. But since I dont have a bag to put in the toaster I am gonna be using a frying pan.. Will upload a picture on your facebook when I'm done :)
Tried to flip my omelette and I dropped it in the sink! (did it over the sink as I assumed the flippage wouldn't go over as gracefully for me as it did for you). Needless to say, my second go resulted in a delcious omelette! Thanks :)

I suppose the omelette video will be as good as any to ask this question:
My mum is always harping to me, saying that I shouldn't have more than 1 egg a day, and no more than about 5 eggs a week. While my dad's side of the family has a history of high chlosterol, I hardly think it's worth it to be worrying about eggs. But I just wanted to hear from someone who's knowledgeable about food: what's the actual 'limit' for eggs per day? Is there one? It's higher than 1, right?
@Nani101 The best way to think about it is "everything in moderation"...It's the best way to think about all food in fact. Therefore there's no limits to how much you should eat in a day, but just be mindful of how much you are eating from any one food group :-D
@Nani101 If I remember correctly, they lifted that suggestion back in 2009. The report said that previous studies didn't understand the difference between cholesterol and saturated fats. While eggs do have some cholesterol, they are not a significant source of saturated fats. But of course, moderation to anything.
@sortedfood The omlette flip is the worst. I always am able to fold everyone elses omlette but break mine to pieces when folding. Thanks for the omlette tips though.
@Nani101 You can eat as many egg whites as you want. As for yokes I would limit myself at maybe only 2 - 3 a day. ( Since the yokes have the fats and things that make people go nuts. )
I have always felt like an idiot because I can't make an omelette. I used to put it in the pan and leave it, now I'll try moving it around first like scrambling an egg.
@sortedfood I love your recipes! As I'm a vegetarian, I'd really love to make my own veggie burger with almond croûte but I don't now how. Could you help me out please?
@nikkichin528 I'm not sure if you found them already, but I found some toaster bags that you can order from Amazon.com. You can do a search for Toastabags and you'll find 100 use toaster bags.
Another way to do this is putting everything into a ziplock bag and boiling it --if you don't have toaster bags. :) try it!!! it works i promise!!!!!!
Hi, I'm making a video about French cooking for school and I was wondering if there is a french food that can be cooked by someone who has the cooking skills of the average lizard?
I have a question. When you make an omelette using veggies like mushrooms, bell peppers, etc. they have a longer cooking time than the egg itself. Should you saute the veggies before adding them to the omellete to avoid burning ?
I'm currently trying to lose weight . I know you did an episode for Brettheiphone about healthy low cal foods, but i was hoping you could do another one, packed with lots of flavor. I find it really difficult to keep the food tasting just as great as a higher calorie meal, and still feel full.
If you guys could help me out that would be great!
I just wanted to say thank you @sortedfood Tonight I was able to make a perfect meal! Love your channel and I'm trying to create several of your recipes :) Thank you for helping out those who can't cook!
@florencelovme the toaster was invented in 1906... And if you're older than that then I praise you as people of your age generally don know how to use the Internet.
@florencelovme All our recipes are aimed at different ages, cooking skills and food preferences, ranging from the easy (e.g. omelette) to the more difficult (e.g. macarons). Sorry you didn't like this one, but maybe you could try a different one?

@sortedfood "aimed at different ages?" do you mean that its hard for a kid to watch his parents do some REAL cooking and learn to do that? because I know how to cook my own food since I was 7 and microwaves and toasters were not even invented at the time! No, youre just choosing to teach the lazy generation of retards to to be just that - lazy! plus, youre givin them ill advice in nutrition and health. plz do not call yourself a chef!
@florencelovme some parents dont teach kids how to cook, believe it or not, and some kids do not have readily available resources to inform them how to cook. if you were 7 and microwaves (1945) and toasters (1893) weren't invented, you must be real fucking old! I think someone your age should have the luxury to be lazy and make omelettes in toasters, so shut your stupid mouth and watch the vids. and subscribe! maybe they'll make something with prunes later or something
@florencelovme As a professional chef I love nothing nothing more than simplifying the basics and passing this on to others, encouraging them into the kitchen. Some people have moved away from home and still don't know the basics or don't have access to learn from others on a daily basis. We endeavour to inspire and entertain, not just teach. If the quirkiness of an 'omelette in a toaster' or 'cake in a mug' sparks an interest in food that isn't already there then that's a good thing surely?
@florencelovme we presume beginners are more likely to have a mug to hand than a pack of disposable cake cases. Besides, the mug heats up in the microwave and helps to cook the mixture. Food and cooking doesn't have to be difficult, expensive or use specialist kit... But it should be shared and enjoyed with friends. I hope you can find some new inspiration from a few of our many recipes to apply to your own skill set and would still consider SORTED a friend.
@sortedfood oh but I do like most of your videos and have mentioned that Ive done some of the recipes, thats why I get turned off by your "lazy" vids. A respectable chef, in my book, does not need to use these things but ok, I'll buy your "begginers" scenario. doctors say that microwave cooking is unhealthy because it kills the nutrients and is bad for the digestive. A generation of college kids is eating rubbish and they dont even know it. You could encourage healthy cooking if you wanted.
@florencelovme Yeah, and Im sure they'd get tons of views if they did cous cous and cucumber sticks as a recipe - we like microwaves! and they do plenty of healthy stuff .
@florencelovme Really now, cause I've been told by a number of sources that you lose far more nutrients from boiling food than you do from microwaving it. Don't believe me? Look it up. I'd source my claims but youtube won't let me post links and I'd rather not waste my time.
Look buddy, if you're a troll trying to stir up shit, then stir away, but if these are all genuine comments, then please, leave this planet.
@florencelovme The ingredients he used in the toaster could easily be used in the frying pan method, so your comment about nutrition has no relevance. I never thought you could put cheese with eggs... This is certainly the heaven I'm looking for :D Gonna cook this later this week. And I'm going to LOVE IT. Thanks guys!
::shrugs:: I'm from America.... and that's more or less how I've always seen omelets look, so to me it didn't look burned or anything (maybe a little, but not weird)... just my two cents =)
Ok I have a few questions but I really don't want to get spammed with hateful responses. Why is your omelette brown? Is that how people like where you are? In the USA I think the consensus would be that your omelette was well done and on the verge of being burnt.
@abrotherforaudrey i'm from the UK and that omelette looks good to me lol not at all burnt :P the golden brown is what english people wait for when it's cooking
That definitely is an extremely dark omelet.

In the USA I think the consensus would be that your omelette was well done and on the verge of being burnt.
abrotherforaudrey 4 months ago
@abrotherforaudrey It does look kind of burnt. Maybe I'm just American and I think omelettes are supposed to be yellow on both sides.
AlwaysPotterhead 4 months ago
@abrotherforaudrey the whole "yellow omelette" thing is very american

@abrotherforaudrey i'm from the UK and that omelette looks good to me lol not at all burnt :P the golden brown is what english people wait for when it's cooking

@Hollybebs Hmm I guess it must be an American thing. Thanks!

My omelettes always completely falls apart when it comes time to fold it, is it because I fold it too late or something?
