Hi Ron! According to the Billings Rollography, what you have is QRS #2399: My Hawaiian Dream (Marimba Waltz), played by Harold Scott & Jeff Watters, and apparently issued in October of 1923. The composers of the song are Reed and Awan. This is apparently a VERY obscure song -- I have not encountered the sheet music, and there are no references to it on the Web.
Thanks, Tom! This has had me puzzled since I watched the video. The best I could come up with that there was in fact a song from 1923 with a close name - "My Hawaii" by Genevieve S. Ellis.
@tbrier42 Ahh, OK, the "different catalog number" I was finding online actually was for an Imperial roll. Thanks for the heads-up. Did you see the video I did showing the arrangement I made recently off a self-published lead sheet from 1948 of a song called "Down in Santa Cruz"? I'll send you a link to the score I made, or can bring copies to Sutter Creek next month. (Motorcycle is fixed again, again! Yay!)
@Keeper1st Yep! A fine arrangement it is, too -- really brings out the feeling of the piece. Certainly wouldn't mind taking a crack at it myself over Sutter Creek, though!
@tbrier42 I'll be sure it's in my folder. Speaking of lead sheets and Sutter Creek, I do have a lead sheet of another tune I think you'll have a blast with, and we'll all have a blast hearing what you do with it. It's a mid-19th-century song that most people have heard but few know the title or even that it is in fact that old... But that's all I'll tell ya for now! Heheh! OK, a hint: It's not an American song, or even an English-language song.
@tbrier42 BTW, can you identify the arranger on the roll I posted a while back of Five Foot Two? Every scan and roll video of that song I find is a different arrangement. And hey, if you feel like driving over 50, I'm getting married on Saturday in Carson City. Nothing fancy -- just the courthouse, then lunch/dinner at a Chinese restaurant (but not the Szechuan On The Left!) with the guests (which at this point is just Linda's family, alas). Our guest room is available for an overnight stay too.
how many rolls did you get along with the piano?
I'd like to see this tune (same roll) played in an Orchestrion or a band organ just to see what it will make of it...

@er10b I got a couple dozen rolls with the piano, I guess.

So cool, the lyrics are on the side too!

@TwoBitColorPencil They are for most piano rolls. Most videos of player pianos just don't show the roll close-up enough to read them.

@Keeper1st That's the J. Lawrence Cook arrangement done for QRS in the '20s -- according to the Trachtman web site, the catalog number is 3298.
Congrats on tying the knot! Unfortunately, though, I can't make it -- Neil's tying the knot on Sunday, and I will be there. Ah, June!

@tbrier42 Ah cool. Wow, he's piling on the hecticity (hey I made a new word!), getting married and moving to Switzerland in the span of three weeks!

I even trying searching portions of the lyrics.

This is so awesome. I cracked up when it ran over the folds in the roll and it banged down on the keys :D
