i used a variety of effects and settings for the sound...i have a compressor on, flanger on with somewhat of a high speed and a moderate depth, i have a delay on as well, reverb is on too...
are you running it through a delay or a reverb? i find that the best way (i have a zoom g1, cheap, but effective) is to use a slight delay with some arena reverb and set the gutiar to the bottom pickups that way i don't have to fuck around with the tone.

The pedal used for that part is the Boss RV-3 Digital Reverb/Delay
You can get a RV-5 though, same thing with new settings.
