@powertoweight100 NINJA ZX12R STILL GO FASTER THAN 2009, I LITTLE DISAPPOINT WITH 2010 R1 AT TOPEND POWER, i did drop my r1 to market and trade for 2008 r1, i happy with it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@powertoweight100 cause i used with bike years, i been in tracks, i love yamaha! it very very fast! 183 mph stock, stock 156 rear wheel hp, so i get exhaust, power commander, igniton modlue, ecu tune, and porting stage 3 head work, now 210 rear wheel hp! top speed 208 mph but out og gears quickly. stock 17/45 gearing can rev maxed 188 mph, but i put 18/43 hit 208 at rev limiter over redline, so i will buy -3 on rear ;)gonna get 18/40 it might hit about 223 mph ;) but cant get there
@robertmike219 yes i know, but i used ride for many years though ;), i been raced at isle of man track, it seem world's dangerous road ever i raced, very very tiny road at over 170 mph damn, not scare me bad, but scare me little more when first time race that road lol. now i used with it, but still too fast for me damn
Folks,i can tell you that i had the 07 model and i took a ride with the 09 from a friend of mine and i can assure you that the diference in HP is not so big,but in handling, corners, wind protection, rider postion, noise at top speed etc... is far,far away beter tnan the 07!!!! I pushed hard from start and belive i did not notice when had i reached 296KMH in 5th gear!!! Belive me the bike is a first stock bike that a sportrider needs!!!
There is no stock k9 1000 making 180whp, thats just a pipe dream. My 09 R1 made 154whp and a k9 on the same dyno made 157whp. 150's is what any stock 1k puts down on a properly set up dyno in normal conditions.
I've had my R1 for three weeks now. It pulls harder in A mode low in the revs than my VTR1000F....mindblowing....strangely, the dynos show the R1 as having a lame torque curve, but on the road it feels like a supercharged V twin.
I know you're American and America is still behind the rest of the world in the sense that for some unknown reason you still use the Imperial system, but at least learn how to spell "litre" if you're going to use it to describe bikes.
anyone whos ridden a 1000cc sportbike knows that when the bike is leaned over its very difficult to feed much throttle without losing the rear end. i agree that power delivery is everything. why do you think v twins that seem underpowered compared to 4's still lap a track at the same pace? power delivery. if that r1 with 151 hp can deliver power the way its said than ill take the 151 hp yam over a 160 hp kawi or suzuki any day... looks like ben spies proved its worth this sunday.
I agree with what you are saying in the first part of your comment, it is difficult to throttle through corners on a 1000cc bike. but its not impossible. it just takes more skill, most do not have it. the new k9 gsxr 1000 puts down 181 rwhp and 117 lb of torque. thats 30 more horse and 20 more foot lbs of torque. control that and you will blow the doors off the r1. and if you are trying to show that the r1 is dominant because ben spies is winning on it thats lame. he could win on anything.
well i don't know where you got your numbers at but either of those bikes make over 90ftlbs of tq ,learn some math its impossible 117ftlbs of tq at only 10k would be over 220hp
If you find a stock bike with that much rear wheel buy them all. Believe the dyno and the dyno says every bike is in the 150 range. 181 dont believe the hype.
ya got mine and i am loving it. It is so easy to ride, out of corners it awesome it really as yamaha said throttle to tyre you can feel the connection. Check my vid of the R1 got some bit's on. Akrapovic's and stuff.
the r6 sounds more agressiv in my opinion

sounds so shitty, its a waste of a r1 if you dont put any slip ons, such as the two brothers

it sounds just like Valentino Rossi's back man.....
4Shabani4 2 years ago
Well, it is based off Rossi's M1. It has a Crossplane style crankshaft.
I personally don't like the sound either, but it's a very good bike, Yamaha did a great job.

Which gear did you run it in?
cylotec14 2 years ago
Top gear. The gear doesn't effect horsepower--by the way. It only effects how long I have to sample.

Sounds a little different than the other r1 s so far doesnt it.......? I like the sounds of the old r1 s better though.

we dynoed an 09 r1 today. we only got 143 rear wheel horsepower in our all gears run. I think it had something to do with the altitude.

117 ft/lbs? No, not even close......what you are reading is called newton meters (nM) look it up, the bike makes about 80-85 ft lbs of torque.

power is nothing with out control, but only 151bhp???

got mine now 151 bhp is plenty! would easily kick the ass of my old 07 model. Having had 3 R1's this is by far the most impressive one!
R1SUPERGOD 3 years ago
Uh, that's 151 @ the rear wheel. If you use 15% for drivetrain losses that's 173.65 bhp (at the flywheel)
