Thanks for posting this. Plan on staying in Wilson when I start at OSU next year. Definetly will want to loft my bed, but setting up computers could be tricky. Anyways, I can't wait!
@DrJacobean I highly recommend you bring your own electric drill to put you loft together because Spaeth doesn’t provide you with one and Wilson may only have a couple drills for checkout and there will be a lot of other people building loft kits on move in day.
@DrJacobean I made a mistake when I made this video. If you want a loft kit you need to go to Spaeth Lumber up on 9th street. That is where you can purchase the loft kit. The loft kit is a bundle 2x4s and 4x4s that are already precut to the appropriate lengths. You also get a set of instructions as well as all the screws you need to put the wood together.
@DrJacobean For a computer under a loft bring a long phone cord and ethernet cable-a power strip is handy too. Some said it could get hot up in the loft (heat rises) so maybe a small fan.The sound deadener panel only came halfway up the wall -maybe it's different now?If so the loft would be above the panel and you might hear more noise through the wall. Nicest arrangement I remember was a guy with a futon under the loft, a rug, and a floor lamp-he left the computer on the desk.
Thanks again for posting The dorms were more gender segregated then, men's and women's sides separated by the elevators, some floors men or women only, and Callahan women only as you said..Hawley wasn't in use, it was opened when the other dorms were closed during breaks. West Dining wasn't used either- it was opened for special events. Also the dorms had different "themes" then - Wilson mostly freshmen, McNary the quiet study dorm, Finley wellness, West over 21, Weatherford was avante-gard..
Wow, the rooms look very much like they did 25 years ago! There's little differences such as there used to be 2 incandescent reading lights, green metal round garbage pails, and no internet/cable tv jack. There was an old intercom system on the wall (at least in McNary) that we tried to open up and hack into a serial port network to play head to head Flight Simulator.
@retrotrs80 Yep. I’ve meet a lot of parents of incoming freshmen who tell me that they stayed in Callahan back when it was an all girls dorm and that nothing has changed much. I remember seeing a couple of those intercom things in McNary my freshman year but they don’t work and I think most of them have been removed because McNary has undergone some major renovations and the rooms look nothing like Callahan or Wilson anymore.
You are a god! I'm getting ready to buy stuff for my dorm room at Wilson and had no idea what would fit and how we could work out the rooms. Thank you so much! Now I won't show up on move-in day with a bunch of crap I won't need.

@DrJacobean I don't know about Callahan but, in Wilson they don't have those lights on the side of the closet.
