I have these handgrip things. You put them in your hands and just grip and grip more til your hand is a single muscle lol and i work with Bo Staff rotation.
i was thinking the same! couple of potential wrist breaking exercises. some great 1`s too, but slip on that pole with all bodyweight forcing wrists inwards and ouch...........make sure cell phone on voice rec before doing these!
Excellent work, very tough exercises. Thank you for posting. How often should you do this to avoid injury? Tried them yesterday and I'm still really sore hehe.
I works the flexors of the fingers. A finger supported grip if you will. Other muscles work the movement, while muscles that flex and squeeze the fingers stabilize.
Haven't tried them out yet- my muscles are repairing from my last workout session (soon before that post), however after I find a stick, pole or some similar object with enough tensile strength I'll try it in a heartbeat.
hmm....if it's a bo staff then its not one that i've ever seen before. i train with bo staffs for hapkido and they're tapered and have a decent amount of flex in them by design. i'm pretty confident that it couldn't withstand the force of a one handed pushup.
Kinda looks lame - heavygrippers will do the thing you need. The grip strength comes from the forearm - biceps excercises also train the forearm - so biceps + heavygrippers will do the thing - no need of this laughable ex's
you forgot to say hand strength... I've met construction workers that never done a curl in their live that have amazing grip strength. grippers are great, these exercises also good. odd object lifting, ropes, and sandbags are good also.
I would love to add these exercises to my workout regime, but I wonder how often you would need to do these a week to get best results? would once a week be enough? not asking because I don't want to do this a lot, but merely curious. This is something I could see myself doing daily, but I want to not overly strain myself.
thanks man, nice video al-Hamdu-lillaah (all praises belong to allaah). i am recently very much into grip training and have been researching as many techniques to use as possible. your video has been a very valuable contribution to my research and i very much appreciate it. very creative and very hardcore exercises right there. i like it! by the way, a tip from me too... get yourself a REALLY THICK shipping rope and hang it over 2 bars on some monkey bars and grip it to do pull ups!
i have about 25 feet of shipping rope that's so thick i cannot get my hand around it (it's almost thick enough to put 2 hands around) and i use it for various grip exercises. shipping rope is a VERY valuable piece of training equipment for grip training, and now i can see a stick and 2 chairs are as well. oh, and the 2 rubber blocks you have there! nice one, and thanks again!
oh, sorry. just to explain a little better... for those shipping rope pull ups i just mentioned, the part of the rope you want to grip to do the pull ups are the 2 sides that just hang down from the bars so there's no need to even tie the rope! another thing you can do with it is climb the whole length of the rope without using your feet or legs, grip only! enjoy!

You can do as many times as your body allows it. As you get stronger you will either do more reps or will have to find a way to increase resistance. Another option is to switch to more difficult exercise.
man, i have to say that´s what i call a strenght workout, i have a question mate, how many times u do each exercice? i see u only do a 4 time series, but i guess u do it to get the whole video there. thanks any way, very good video.
Best forearms tutorial i've found [5 stars] very creative, and a good variety of exercises to stop muscle growth from plateuing. put a vid of your muscle forearms at the start or end to give it more cred in future.

Keep in mind, if you do a bench press with 200lbs and drop that on your chest, you may have a problem.

a bo staff is normally betwwen 5 foot 11 to 6 foot 2 a jo staff is around 4 feet and a hanbo is 3 foot
shanecurley1988 2 years ago
You can also add rows by using just some of the fingers. 4-6 feet bo staff.
Bodyweightculture 2 years ago
Paul is using a bo staff. The blue things are yoga blocks. You can use any stick and any blocks, that won't break.

oooook, these look great, i will def use them to improve my grip for bjj. about 3 min in i was sweating, and i was just watchin....lol

Would 2:12 really work grip strength? It seems like biceps/pectorals, or maybe tricep as well. Maybe its a dumb question but i thought id ask.

Is the stick you're using just a wooden dowel that you'd find your clothes hanging on, or is it metal?
Thanks

I believe Paul is using a Bo Staff. That is a martial arts weapon made of wood.
