  • Fantastic!!!

  • Wonderful.Memories of being a young vibrant pretty woman. We thought we were something special.......

  • A young George W. Bush on piano......;)

  • 1:10 Lol...nice move by the drummer. :).

  • Me encaaaaaaaaaaanta. Creo que Gerry imita un poco a Paul McCartney. Gerry and the Pacemakers debería ser famosa en toda el mundo, qué buena banda!

  • Anyone else see John Lennon traits in Gerry's performance here? Wow.

  • I have memories of sitting on my mums lap , and clapping to this song, it was about 45 years ago......ahhh mum i miss you....

  • bands were always so happy in the 60's!!

  • W-w-w-ow! These guys are great! I agree with ArcticBeatle, however Gerry and the Pacemakers have their own style...and I LIKE IT! (sorry, couldn't resist). I gotta know more - can anyone tell me what the best website is to learn more about them??

  • They were great!

  • I do like it.

  • awesome! but beatles still the best!

  • I don't like this song, I LOVE it! I Love 60's music and the beautiful music they sang and I love the smiles of these performers. I LIKE it, I LIKE it! I LIKE it!

  • I wanna Gerry and the Pacemakers T-shirt!!!

  • cant get betta den da merseybeat scouse an proud lol!

  • wow i love his voice *¬*, it sound to me like the early beatles :D

  • He wears his guitar higher than lennon that crazy gerry!

  • I dont like how they copy the beatles with the hair and suits , well many bands copyed the beatles at the time

  • @jayven009 They are not copying he beatles? They dress alike cause they got same manager as the beatles Brian Epstein

  • @jayven009 they arent really copying it was just a style and they have the same manager

  • May, 1964. Gerry actually seems the most nervous of the four band members.

  • i liked it

  • Love Gerry and the Pacemakers :) Seen them when i was a kid during the early nineties :)

  • There's a famous cover of this with a soft woman singing it. What is it?? It's in an advert.

  • @ArcArcane Pretty sure it's a kid singing that version.

  • I love this band but they wore their gtrs way too high!!lol

  • @Doctorfreek LOL true, but sweet.

  • I will always enjoy these old "live" clips. So many times they would just lip sync on these old shows, so it's nice to see an actual tapeing of a live studio performance.

  • Yes, they did sound gt.live, and no 'effin' effects what so ever. The stage was always PEDAL FREE in those days, no nuthin, just reverb or a Watkins echo,or space echo for the rich,Linear amp for the poor, our group bought our linear bird cage amp from GAMAGES,wow !!!!!!! 15 gns.

  • Had to post a quick comment about G.and the P.

We use to be a regular support group to them in dance halls around the N.West, ie Liverpool,Widnes ,Warrington etc etc.

They were a truly brilliant live band, apart from Gerry and his gretch guitar, gt, rhythm player,LES CHADWICK was a gt.muscian on bass, and had an almighty bass amp for its day, just listen to his bass lines, superb.Les Maguire on piano was also superb, using the club piano with a mike stuck in it !! and Fred was 1 of the best drum

  • 6 people obviously don't like it!

  • It was common for bands to pre-record the music and all they had to do was sing "live" for the performance.

  • my father introduced this song to my 1 1/2 year old daughter, she sings along and dances, she loves this song!!!!!

  • If Gerry is not plug in why does he keep hitting the pick-up switch?

  • @blueticecho Plus, at 0:10 you can see the amp cord under his arm ;)

  • i dont like it

  • @fabfabregas1

    That's funny *

  • I was born in the uk in 1962 . I 've lived in Australia since 1970 . This song takes me back to my childhood . Thanks for posting it .

  • I remember watching the Beatles, Gerry & the Pacemakers, Zombies, Stones, Yardbirds, all of them on TV as a kid. I loved the British invasion!! They looked different, they sounded different, they changed everything!! Good video!!

  • One of the real originals!!!

  • I can't believe middle aged looking Gerry was teen idol back then.

  • the other guitar player looks like mccartney

  • @flakbac And you look like a pile of s**t Beatle hater!

  • I bet the word Pacemaker takes on a whole new meaning these days....

  • @blueticecho Very true, and most of the people in this video are probably wearing one about now, as are most "baby boomers." Can't stop time.

  • Pure sixty's sound.

  • omg the guitarist (not Gerry but the guy to the right of him) looks sort of like Paul McCartney!!!! lol

  • @Beatleluver1234567 ....yeah, a FAT Paul McCartney...lol.

  • luv this track!

  • me and my friends are mersey beat lovers even though we're only in our 20s, I wore a beatle wig and sung this song drunk and got a standing Ovation! lol! :) <3 this song!

  • a underrated band this song if you listen to it closely has great lyrics and key changes, more than just a popsy tune

  • The only issue I have with Gerry and the Pacemakers is the fact that they imitated the Beatles too much. Gerry is singing like George Harrison. The suits? Come on guys.. The bow at the end of the song. Sorry, no one compares with the Beatles.

  • @psychlos21, I suppose you are right, but The Beatles copied Buddy Holly in the suit department and also they say Buddy influenced them and perhaps Gerry and the Pacemakers were influenced by BH, too. Heck, Buddy Holly influenced a whole heck of a lot of popular groups in the 60's, like the Rolling Stones, for example.Besides, it was the 60's.Most groups wore the suits-Herman's Hermits, Chad and Jeremy,Gary Lewis and the Playboys, just to name a few.

  • @ProudKansan08, yes the Beatles were influenced by a lot of groups and artists in from the 1950s and early 60s but transcended beyond such styles by the time they got to Rubber Soul and after. My main point with Gerry and the Pacemakers had more to do with the singing, music and bowing at the end. Direct rip off of the Beatles.

  • @psychlos21 It seems that all the groups managed by Brian Epstein looked the same in dress. It was the British look-fantastic

  • Comment removed

  • The pianist looks a bit like Rob Brydon - 1:36

  • I'm 18 and had never heard of this song until I was working with my governor and his "funky" radio channels... song is actually pretty good, catchy as hell.

  • hahahaha!

  • gerry and the pacemakers had great harmony. I saw them live back in 1964 and it was wonderful! They don't write songs like this anymore.

  • i like it!

  • not bad...^_^

  • Yep, Gerry + Pacemakers sure were a great "Mersey Beat" U.K. band from the early '60's. Lots of fun, good-time music from these boys - in a rather more 'innocent' time .. the early '60's .. before LSD, before Vietnam, before the damage wrought by U.S. Presidents Johnson and then "Tricky Dick' Nixon. Make no mistake, mid + late 60's rock music is in a quality class of its own. But it was 'different' later in the decade. This early '60's genre from both the U.K. & U.S. was equally fabulous.

  • You are so right Mate.
