  • It should be Queen plus Chuck Norris

  • Queen minus Freddie Mercury

  • my 6 yr old cant get enough of this version. good job Paul... you played it great!

  • Freddie never sounded like that folks....That dude can croon !!!!

  • I'n a Queen fan...but i think Paul Rodgers was a wonderful idea!!I just love him and them!!!Great!!!

  • Paul Rogers LIVE - Nothing wrong with this full power youtube.com/watch?v=HfFPMlvLSHU

  • 3:59 so epic!

  • Comment removed

  • This singer is crap. How could the band let him do this carnage?

  • @dhpmathmusic It's really hard to explain this experience... they never wanted to replace Freddie and do something new just like that; on the other hand, it's just music, it is what they do. But they really felt connected with Freddie through the music, you could see their smiles were really something else. However, it's next to impossible to integrate this into everyday jargon. To me, it was like they were showing their bereavement, lack of closure, and at the same time transcending it

  • can i just point out paul nailed the note on "fighting" in the first chorus in we are the champions, something freddie rarely did unfortunately. You can't deny paul is amazing. Saying that, Freddie was also pretty amazing. 2 very different singers, but they both do the songs justice in their own way in my opinion.

  • Of course it's different, that doesn't mean it's not good. I thought it was a great choice, just sorry to hear they've parted ways. Freddy is gone, and nothing can change that. Maybe they'll find someone to fill in (he can't be replaced, ever). Maybe they won't.

  • Not Freddie, but then, no one, absolutely no one will ever be able to replace him, so Paul must stand on his own merits, I think he does a good job and I actually like these versions!

  • Paul Rodgers never fitted in. Queen, with all of the great backup talent and the musical talent, has never, let me repeat, NEVER BEEN THE SAME without Freddie. Freddie has his issues, but, he WAS the vocal sound of QUEEN

  • @pitts40 queen with paul are a rock group,(as when they 1st started out)till freddie made them into a pop group with all his personel baggage songs.

  • Awesome. Just AWESOME!

  • I'm sorry, I like Paul and I like his voice, but I didn't like his version of We Will Rock You at all. I liked We Are the Champions somewhat better.

  • Long live Freddie but Paul does a great job with his version. This song is awesome!

  • I'm sick of this, all the people who have slagged off PAUL RODGERS over the past 5 years clearly never saw them perform live. Best shows I've ever seen, its a shame they aren't going to tour again

  • @lucrativeelfmongrel RIGHT ON . SAW THEM AT LIVERPOOL ....BRILLIANT . NO ONE MATCHES FRED, AND NO ONE COMES CLOSE TO PAUL. JUST BE THANKFUL WE HAD THE TWO GREATEST FRONT MEN IN THE BEST LIVE BAND.

  • have they parted ways????

  • Sadly yes. Roger & Brian have both confirmed it. Paul has said the door is open but according to Roger Brian & Paul had some disagreements.

  • Paul Rodgers has one of the best straight forward rock voices out there. Freddy was a major talent in every respect too, but

I'm glad to hear Paul doing things his way here.

  • because of Queen I had the opportunity to see my favorite singer : PR on stage in Paris buuutttt

what's sad is PR was comparing to Freddie Mercury by the french audience

most of them don't know who Paul Rodgers is

  • paul really did make the songs sound his way, differrent but still brilliant. Without JD its just not the original sound of queen. An explosion of rock!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This is Paul Rodgers being himself singing Queen songs his own way.Good mix of passion, emotion and freinds just jammin and havin fun.Well done.

  • Now that Q+PR is over, looking back in hindsight you realize it took quite a bit of courage for Paul to get up there and not worry and just put himself into the songs. You can just tell the guy just loves music above all else and the end result is a sincere performance that the people in the room felt.

Freddie was an impossible act to follow, and I believe Rodgers will prove to be a hard act to follow in his own way as well.

I really enjoyed this project while it lasted.

    I'll miss it.

  • i like it,and i couldn't care less who's on the stage

  • paul not trying to be like freddie, he not the showman and has different voice, he can sing though. where the hell is john deacon. i could handle the rodgers/freddie thing, different vocals add differences to band but no DEACON!!!! that not right.

  • Sorry mate but the show must go on.

  • all im saying that if rodger and brian tour..they should use a different name for the band..

i think its a bit morbid..that brian may and rodger taylor are cashing in on the queen legacy, i know they miss freddie..but at the same time they know that the queen name will bring in alot of money.

if brian needs to tour..tour with something new...and play some queen, along with new stuff.

  • @fatlip66 Come on you guys, if you only knew... money is so small, compared to the story of what's happened here... do you not think everyone is human, after all? They used the name Queen to be recognized (as being confused about personal identity), not to cash in.

  • I like paul rodgers..he is a great singer..but he just dosnt fit queen.

i think its wrong for brian may and rodger taylor to tour as queen, its not queen..its half of queen, with paul rodgers.

why was john deacon ignored? he was a good bass player.

queen without freddie mercury is like led zeppelin without robert plant..

queen WAS and FOREVER shall be

    Freddie mercury

    Brian may

    Rodger taylor

    John deacon

That my friends..is Queen..carved in stone

  • John Deacon did not want to know, he has made his money and HE turned his back on the fans. What do you expect Brian and Roger to do for the rest of their lives?? Lay down and die???

I would walk a mile on broken glass to see Brian, Roger or Paul so having them together is amazing.

If you dont like them you are missing a great opertunity to hear Queen songs played AUTHENTICLY by members of the band.

This isnt a local soundalike band, they are ROCK GODS

  • Paul rodgers is just as good as freddie, its just different.

  • Though as good as this is its will never be as good as the original! Freddie is, was and will forever be the best, however Paul Rodgers does this justice, if a little bleeded... if you get what I mean...

  • I was / am an "original" Queen fanatic. I was all prepared to dislike the Queen + Paul Rodgers version of the band. However, you have to give him credit. He does an amazing job, and openly acknowledges that he's not trying to copy Freddie. How could he? But he has lent the songs his own style and I admit to having become a convert. After all, better to contiunue to enjoy these live performances than none at all !!!

  • i just watched adam lambert and though he does have a good voice i have to agree with ß4parrw, he has a long long way to go before he can match paul or freddie!!!!

  • Just brilliant; what a voice!

  • i didn't know that CHUCK NORRIS was gonna try to take Freddie's place.

  • I have this taped. was their first thing on TV before they did the chapions tour. accept Rodgers for what it is. things change. what u want em to do sit around wanking. or reignite the fire inside. no body can replace no body so just get over it. and stop moaning. i hate hollyoaks so i just dont watch it. if u hate the new queen bugger off

  • @number1cherfan There's something I don't get, though... Ok so they reignite the fire inside, but where does this fire go afterwards? It seems like it's blazed out so fast. Maybe it's just my impression. But I wonder about these things. This was so spectacular, & at the same time more intimate as they played smaller venues. But do people understand anything? We only fight emotionally about Paul or whatever...

  • you gotta be fucking with me?! freddy mercury was one of the best rock singers of all time, and to say he's have issues keeping up with adam is like saying Hussain Bolt would have issues keeping up with chris farley running. FREDDIE LIVES ON FOREVER... LONG LIVE FREDDIE...YOU ARE THE SOUL OF QUEEN!!

  • utter crap!! adam is nothing compared to both of them they are both absolute legands he is just a 2nd place looser of a talent show, unlike mercury and rodgers he couldnt even become famous on his own

  • standing ovation!!

  • NO DOUBT MY FRIEND, I also think that Adam Lambert would do it better.. but FREDDIE IS FREDDIE!!!!

  • paul rodgers = legend freddie mercury = legand adam = no 1 cares not a match on eathr of them id rathr he die than join the legandry queen!!

  • Rogers just doesn't have the *right* voice to do this. His range is not high enough to play duet with the guitar, which is one of the signature moves of this song. No doubt Adam Lambert would do this better, perhaps even outsing Mercury.

  • are you kidding me!!!! his range is not high enough...are you crazy? this is just spectacular......who is adam lambert?????????

  • Adam Lambert is the guy that won American Idol, and showed a great voice with great range. He is indeed a very gifted voice.

But I just don't think Adam is on this overall level of Paul (or Freddie for that matter). He doesn't have the dynamic or presence to stand on this same stage.

  • @zenmachinefilms Adam just comes from a very different place, the musical theatre, but he's a tremendous act all on his own, I don't think he would work as a lead singer. Maybe if he was just starting out, he could have played Galileo in WWRY. Ring of Fire, Tracks of My Tears are my favourites.

  • freddie wil always be the best un no offence adam lambert is no match to mercury or rodgers by a hell of a long shot.

  • I gotta say this. Queen + Paul Rodgers just split-up today..and some of the Youtube stuff lets it down. However this is the 1st thing I saw...and it's just as good now as it was back then! People who think Queen shouldn't tour with Paul are idiots! In fact Freddie was a great friend of Pauls and used to want to sing like him. Like it says: It's Queen + Paul Rodgers! Thanks guys...Love you always!

  • I think it's awesome! Rock on!

  • Love Paul Rodgers (especially Free) but Queen sorry doesn't work (my opinion). Wish Koss was still around to do a Free reunion and for that matter wish Mercury was still here for Queen. Let them lie where they are for now though...Please

  • Yeah Brian and Roger should go back to stamp collecting.

  • No, no, no, no, no.... this is NOT queen. Mercury is the soul of Queen... he's a god, like zeus or something like that :)

  • The just broke up from paul rodgers.

  • i think that its a good band, PR fits in well with the sound the others make, its just not queen. they make good music though.

  • Much prefer the soulful voice of PR.

As big a vocal range as FM had, he was not as naturally gifted.

    Just my preference that's all

  • Paul rodgers is awesome.

  • this sucks! how can anyone think paul is a good idea? grrr I MISS FREDDIE! waaaaaaha!

  • Ur Right!! Fuck these disloyal Fuckers!! I givin U thubs Down How can they call this QUEEN I respect Decon 4 not doin it!!!! they could easily make another Queen album with left ov FM vocals with dif Music like 2Pac!!

  • Such violent talk, you stick to 2pac. Freddy was about peace and love not f *** you!

  • I dunno... this is kinda like doing the bible without Jesus... it's one of those things that's TOO sacred.

  • I can't listen to this. Paul just doesn't do it for me. Queen was the best with Freddie, and I am sure that Paul fits in with some. Just not me

  • wow i haven't seen this in a long time, i taped it back in 2004 but lost the tape and when i tried looking for it on youtube i couldn't find it, until now. Thankyou

  • Que pena dan algunos cuando no saben retirarse a tiempo

  • Paul rules!!

  • I have there new CD it sounds good and a little different tune

  • outstanding he could make any band sound good and with me in the band on guitar of course

  • true, however its not like Freddie just went 'missing' or they kicked him out of the band.....

but those sad lot whining about Queen now aint gonna brign Freddie back from the dead now is it..... Queen is bigger than any of the band members on their own!

  • Obviously he is good enough for Brian May and Rodger Taylor...and that is all that matters.

Paul Rodgers is in a class of his own that very few singers achieve. Freddie was in there as well along with Stevie Ray Vaughan. Singers that no matter what they sing sounds fantastic.

  • Pish

  • long life to queen; this man sing very well and deserve join at group.

  • He sounds like Bill Withers on We are the Champions.

Of course I wish Freddie was there :( but Paul is a fuckin' god!

  • It sounds like Bad Company more than Queen. Paul Rodgers goes with Bad Company, Freddie with Queen. He is irreplaceable.

  • Freddie is the best voice ever, but great voices are great voices, and I think that Paul fits very well with what remains of Queen...

Sorry for the English, I use to speak Italian...

  • To all Paul Rodgers haters out there:

Question: "How concerned were you about dissipating the legacy of Queen by doing this?"

Brian May: "Ive never been concerned, and if that sounds arrogant, then so be it. I know inside me what has integrity and what doesnt. Ive been one of the creators of this thing from the beginning and I have a very clear idea of what is good for our development, and also what is appropriate in the light of Freddies legacy."

  • No one compares with FREDDIE !!!

  • what a sheet...........Paul Rodgers -a.zzzzzzzz

  • good version!

  • Paul Rodgers has the right voice for Queen & not trying to be Freddie

  • I love Freddie and he is the best, but THE SHOW MUST GO ON

  • Comment removed

  • im missing out of the glam.. everyone is wearing nice white shirts.ala clapton. aahh no.. mercury for me thx.

  • He's good, I'll give him that. I just wish they'd left it as it was-it's not the same without Freddie imo, and I still haven't forgiven them for letting 5ive do one of their songs, that was a tragedy.

  • As far as I know about covering songs, they couldn't have prevented the 5ive thing anyway. I could be wrong though. ;)

  • and how about all the Queen songs that Rodgers learned so quickly and delivered so well? I still have trouble believing it.

  • John Deacon. Dignity.

  • John Deacon rich and lazy

  • he's definetly doing his own version of this song not trying to be freddie.

  • paul rocks! and yes he can sing :)

  • rubbish get a life no he hasnt un he can sing or alse he wudnt be famous

  • Queen estaba muerto puto bakala

  • what concert is it

  • As Long he's not trying to bé Freddie, I wont be complaining.

  • i agree that freddie does come close to paul. in singin or songwriting

  • I love him because he's not trying to be Freddie but is an excellent singer and suits Queen excellently!

  • I agree hundred percent!

One has to see it as it is:

a great band with a great singer - doing a great tribute show. I guess Freddie would've liked it that way.

  • Paul rules!!

  • xoxo for Paul Rodgers

  • O_o Co to do cholery jest?! No comment! MASAKRA

  • Nobody is too good to sing with Queen. I agree that Paul Rodgers is a great singer, but you can't say he beats Freddie Mercury, simply because he doesn't

  • George Michael fitted in better with Queen, a shame they never worked together.

  • wrong voice, wrong style, i hate it. It makes me reach for the vinyl. No respect whatsoever, I have heard better at karaoke

  • freddie mercury was one of the best singers the world has ever seen. no one will ever be able to compare to him, queen will never sound the same. but, i still would like to go see this band. i think its better that they are still getting out and rocking with this singer (who is good) then quitting altogether.

  • Freddy is revolving in his grave :S

  • Bleh I definitely admire Paul Rodgers for not trying to sound like Freddie (Like every Journey singer after Steve Perry), but it's still not the same. Eh idk with some time, I think I can come to appreciate him more.

  • paul rodgers sounds like freddie except an octave or 2 (or 3) lower on cosmos rocks.

  • I think choosing Paul Rodgers was a good idea because he saved Brian & Roger.

Think about it, would you rather see Brian & Roger sit at home doing nothing or see them tour with Paul?

  • I think choosing Paul Rodgers was a REALLY bad idea. His voice is completely the wrong timbre for Queen songs. The only vintage rocker who could have pulled it off is Eric Carmen, whose range and style is perfect for Freddie songs. It's such a shame they went with a 'mate' rather than the person who could have done the songs justice.

  • NO-NO-NO-NO-NO-NO ITS BAD IDEA

  • i wouldnt dare to compare this song with freddie but well this show rocks ........and paul is awesome singer and even freddie would agree.....

  • Queen-freddie murkury=?

when i heard about this album that is the quesiton that raced through my mind. after listning to the album the awnsure is: queen-freddie murkury= a decent rock band with queen-like guitar riffs, but nothing else that sounds like the old queen.

so its just, another band. they should change there name because this just isnt queen, its not awefull, but it sounds like a completely different band. also, obviously, the music dosnt even compare to the old queens.

  • I still don't know whether i like Queen with Paul Rodgers... I know Freddie's gone but Queen + Paul Rodgers just isn't Queen without Freddie.. I think i'm like most fans, missing Freddie like crazy but this just isn't the same, no John and no Freddie, its really only half.. Maybe a new band name would fit them better.. I love you Freddie xx

  • I don't know who's better at 60 Paul Rogders or Sammy Hagar.

  • i think its funny when people complain about Paul Rodgers, Brian May and Roger Taylor. Freddie is dead, he died just shy of 17 years ago. He was a great singer and will never be bettered for queen songs, but he is gone. You can complain all you like, but its missing the whole point.Queen+Paul Rodgers have been highly successful so far, doing 2 sellout tours and having a No5 album in the uk. Its not about trying to better freddie, its about having a good time and playing for their many fans again

  • i was waiting 19 years to see Brian may and Taylor playing live and Q+PR has given me that chance and im sure there are many like me around the world.

  • I love PAUL ,BRIAN AND ROGER!

  • This songs aren't queen's songs.

    with Paul Rogers -

    it's another way -

    not for me -

  • gngerlove5: No, I haven't heard anyone doing a better job than Paul Rodgers when singing the old Queen songs. Except for Freddie, that is. But he's not coming back. I don't need a hearing aid. I can recognize true chemistry when I hear it. Paul is great. And the new album is great. Stop being prejudiced. Stop comparing Paul to Freddie. As I said before, he's not coming back. Stop living in the past. Enjoy the present. And if you don't wanna hear it: just don't listen to it! It's that easy...

  • i totally completely agree

  • I agree to Queen 19751986

  • Once again, I can't stress that enough... Paul Rodgers, Brian May and Roger Taylor are all TITANS. I believe they should have simply started a new project, instead of trying to continue in the path of Queen. I totally agree with VIUDOJOVEN there, not saying it's bad, but it's just like Dire Straits without Mark Knopfler or The Police without Sting. Just not good enough.

  • The train has left the station, and Freddie is not on it :)

  • Well, excuse me folks, but I'm STILL not sure if this Paul Rodgers thing is really a good idea. He's got a great voice, no doubt, it's just not a voice which sounds good when singing the vocal parts of the "old" Queen songs. I'm not saying he has to fill anyone's shoes, but dammit, Freddie's gone, Deacon's not there, this is no more than 50% Queen, so... If they wanted to continue playing together, why didn't Mr May and Mr Taylor simply start a new band with Rodgers!?!

  • they did it is called queen +paul rodgers

  • I wish people would stop complaining, notice they call themselves "Queen + Paul Rogers". Two titans of their eras! Its sad that Freddie has gone, but Free aren't about now, and that is sad too! At least we all get to see a bit of both :D relax and enjoy, if you dont like then pop in a Queen Greatest hits tape and enjoy that.

  • Outstanding for Pop Idol you mean! come on! R u seriously saying he there isnt anyone else who could do a hell of alot better than him! Put your glasses on and put a hearing aid on! I disagree %

  • Saw them live 2 years ago in the Sheffield DVD concert. Some them live 2 days ago on the 5th in Manchester.

Im to young sadly to have seen Freddie live but my god don't they do the music justice. Its been mind blowing both times and the MOMENT they announce another tour if they do I will have tickets to see them again, and even if it cost me £200 Id consider it money well spent.

  • ok he isn't Freddie, but he is still great, And it's a little harsh comparing him to Freddie coz Freddies the best there ever was, and at will remain the best there ever was for some time yet.

As lipemay said you shouldn't think of them as Queen without Freddie in but a band with Paul Rodgers Brian May and Roger Taylor who are three of the best musicians around at the moment and for the last 40 years.

P.S IM GOING TO SEE THEM!!!!

  • Paul is great. and... for the love of God...STOP comparing because he does something admirable. he takes the song and makes his own way of singing. Of course he is not Freddie..he is Paul Rodgers...

I think that the problem is in the name of the group... that makes every people go crazy comparing. maybe another name for the group could be a solution. but I still thinking.. Paul is a really great Singer i´ve seen them live.. and they sounded amazing.

  • The Show must go on!!!!!!

  • Get the DVD or CD of the Sheffield concert.

    Much LARGER than this performance.

And you can hear the Rodgers has given Queen a harder edge.

  • what a pity!! it`s like the police without sting, i mean it`doesn`t exit. here is the same.

  • paul rogers has ruined this song his voice just sucks for this part.

  • This song is in ruins.

  • WTF????? Some country wuss is singing Freddy's songs??? FREDDIE WHERE ARE YOU???

  • As somebody who can't tell country from blues, you clearly shouldn't have a musical opinion on anything.

  • This is fucking fag singing. Puke.

  • I thought it was okay, but I rather hear Paul do the old bad Co. tunes. He should patch it up with his old mates and do what he is good at, good old three cord rock. Thyme

  • no one will ever replace Freddie Mercury but Paul Rodgers is still great

  • paul rogerd puto

  • My initial comment wasn't a dislike of Paul Rodgers. It was an observation and a opinion, that's all. lets me put this another way.

Do you think Velvet Revolver would have been better calling themselves 'Guns N' Roses + Scott Weiland' ??? I don't think so.

  • Wow , I just got cold chills watching this video. I love it that they can still revamp the old rock/pop tunes of Queen and make them new again.

Did any of you naysayers notice that Freddie is dead and that Paul Rodgers is doing Paul Rodgers versions of the old songs not Freddies.

I think Paul Rodgers is kick ass. I saw Freddie with Queen in there hayday live and I will never forget it, but this is new and different.

  • Some honesty is overdue here. I admire them for going on, But a new name and material is what they should do. Lay the 'Queen' name to rest, as this is not Queen anymore. Justice cannot be done to these songs anymore and Paul just doesn't have the range or the impact. This was a voice under strain. Move on and don't trade on an old memory. PEACE :)

  • Paul isnt trying to replace Freddy, no one can, no one will. I notice your name "fleeting glance" tell me, when a love one gets older, will you too " move on"???

  • I have no idea what you are talking about. Is this a joke at my expense? :)

  • freddy was a popstar in a rock band, paul rodgers is the best rock vocalist ever. but nobody could perform like freddy.

Paul rodgers is a rock icon, queen, a hideaously overrated band, are lucky to have him

  • and that's your opinion, you cunt

  • Whats with that Jamzal? i made a reasonable point, albeit calling queen hideously overrated was OTT but that is my opinion. queen were a 'rock' band with a pop singer. i like a lot of their songs but some of them are ridiculous i.e i want to break free and fat bottomed girls.

You have to lighten up mate, its music...

    "you cunt"...fuckin arsehole mate

  • i think they should of gone for gary mullen of tribute band one night of queen he is amazing as freddie, even brian and roger have said so.

  • Brilliant! You don't get it? Paul Rodgers doesn't try be Freddie, he doesn't need to. I love hearing these Queen songs sung a new way, if you want to live in the past, then ignore it. If you still want to hear a great band with a great singer play great songs, then go to see this band. Brian and Roger wrote these songs as well, they have every right to do what they like! Freddie wouldn't be turning in his grave - he was a Paul Rodgers fan!!

  • freddie would be turning in his grave if he saw this.............rock on freddie

  • he s nooooooooo freddie never will be

  • queen dont need paul rodgers. he s destroying them.....they should do it on thier own and get john deacon back

GREAT FREDDIE MERCURY

  • Mika shoulda replaced Freddie if anyone

  • For the campness yes maybe, but could Mika " Rock" like Freddy did.?

  • ya id like 2 hear that alrite...but u should listen 2 gary mullen he is very good....although no 1 can compare 2 freddie
