Scherzos have a slow, beautiful part on its middle. I've heard that this scherzo(no.1) is a bit special - the melody line(of R.H.) of it is actually the Christmas Carol of Polland, said somebody in an internet site.
Every time, an absolutely amazing fact is 'showing emotion and making the sound at THAT tempo'...well, I can't understand how the famous pianists could perform like this!!
Uh...there are so many pianists who played this piece and the video is on youtube, but I chose his interpretation as the best. The melody lines are dancing in delight....other pianists could do this but, the sound is so clear.
@audreyhsux5727 But a toccata it's for virtuosos. You have to be able to play really fast to interpret a toccata because a toccata is a flourishment piece with lots of figures in every bar. Like the fast passages of this "scherzo"!
@audreyhsux5727 there are fast passages; with lots of figures in some bars. But of course, it doesn't sound as the toccata I had in mind; more like a ballad. These musicological terms are not black and white, a scherzo can be dark and ominous and toccatas can be slow. Now I am lost.
@Vesivian ah so i guess you are a professional piano player as well ? you give concerts for thousands of people, and you win a chopin competition when you where 20 ? no ? ...then i guess..HE is right :)
@Vesivian i like this version but yes im a pianist but obvisouly not as known and i am still judging. so dont listen to wankers who tell you you cant judge just because you havent their varreer. i bet the dude is the fiest one to say justin bieber is shit but when you look a tit justin is rich and famous and the other guy isnt...so... hahaha.
this is well done here. You cannot say it isn t good. Its a good interpretation not only from the virtuose point. He really has a good technique. His play is so clean. everything is precisely. But he is under pressure as competition winner. lets see how his career will continue.....
This is amazing. Wonderfull interpretation!Chopin has everything in his music. The softness of the impressionism, and the aggression of the Romantic Russian composers! Wonderfull piece, wonderfull interpretation!
At the End of it he's like...."Man I just played Chopin's lightning godspeed masterpiece and this old crowd is too rich to stand up....this is pointless"
Also as a side note the word scherzo in Italian means joke. Scherzo usually were substituted in the third movement of a symphony. But Chopin wrote these as stand alone pieces. And they aren't funny really. Very dramatic actually.
Op 20 are among some of my favorite compositions from Chopin. You not only see the brilliant composition from Chopin the musician but the scherzi show us Chopin the man. His phenominal technique, the lightness of touch,in yundis hands especially, and a little glimpse behind the curtain of Chopin. Extremely well done!
@712Stephen...since I am not an accomplished Pianist, this really doesn't apply to me. I was only going by what I saw for the title, and when you search the title posted here, it pops up with similar results. But I get it now.
@SilenceTheQuiet...I only had a couple others tell me so I kinda get tired of it. And I'm not upset with your comment. Some comments are better left alone. The world is full of opinions which=assholes. Myself included.
I interpret this piece thus: anguish - dream of hope - again anguish (that all of a sudden breaks off the dream and leads to destruction). A bit pessimistic?
you stupid cunt. get with the goddamn program. it's fucking opus 20 you cockgobbling cumstain. fuck your mother and fuck your life for not noticing the title of this video.

There is no "easy" Scherzo, this one is "easier" in the sense it repeats a lot, which makes it easier to get familiar with, but each Scherzo is difficult in it's own way.

@Pr0t0type92 I think you're right, I saw the sheet of no 3 and no 4 and they seem really harder than no 2 . . . no 2 is that tipe of piece that looks harder, but is easier! It's just like bach, looks like it's easy, but it's hard :)
@MetalAge19 I knooowww jeez calm down. -.- Sorry for pointing it out, i was just wondering. Not saying he's a bad player. He's still one of my favorite pianists.
@drawingangel2 Ofcourse he is not a bad player, and i know you did not attend to offend him, just saying mistakes are allowed this is very hard to play, i tried to play it and from like 100 times, i reached ,,far enough" like 2-3 times, and i think by luck XD this piece requires BIG hands...
