You're only maxing stats for one character at a time? No wonder its fast. It'd be more efficient to work on more characters. You can have somebody else level down on this map, and have other characters pull off the same move and also level up.
In my case, I get 99 exp each time I steal gil (and keep getting it clear until the 50's). If I got another 99, I'd level up, but start with 0 exp instead of 98. The move, due to "move-get exp", gets that last bit of experience needed for a level up, significantly hastening the process. There's actually an even faster process than this, allowing for potentially 70 levels in 10 minutes (my record is 68), and I don't even need "move-get exp" to use it!
Unless FF Hacktics is for the PS1 (on the console itself), there's a near-zero chance I'll play it. If it's emulator-exclusive, then there's definitely no chance of playing it. What's with the 13,030 number though? Gil?
Ah, it's emulator only. But why won't you play it? Haha.
I see that you love Tactics, enough to max stats. Why not play version of it that would put your knowledge and skills to use? The original FFT is awesome, but it's just too easy and unbalanced.
(the 13030, or 1.3030 actually, is the version number. 1.3030 is the latest version.)
Legal concerns. I'll only use the real console. FFT, at the start, was frustratingly difficult, until I discovered the use of sleep and later frog. Until then, FFT was very difficult. What you see throughout this "max stats guide" series has been in use almost ever since I reached about level 70 or so (and back then, I didn't complete the "Sweegy Woods" battle for the story - I used Mandalia Plains until everyone was level 99 with all jobs mastered). Today, I know FFT almost inside and out.
@ulillillia There is a convoluted method of making burned copies of PS1 games (including hacked versions, granted you own the original and do not distribute to avoid such legal concerns), but it requires one of the later "slim" models of the playstation 2. It simply requires locking the 3 switches inside of the console in place so that the disc drive will keep spinning when the tray is open. As such, when loading a PS1 game, and upon reaching the Playstation Logo screen, swap discs.
A helpful tip if you do have a slim and do decide to look up a guide and go through with this: When swapping discs, use a finger to slow or stop the spinning. When placing a disc, I have scratched my backup copies due to scrapping on the spinner. I prefer to use my middle finger between the hole in the disc and then push the disc down onto the spinner with my other hand.
Thought: While perhaps slower due to the AI's slow confirmation of actions and movement habits, would a 1 PA berserked frog leveller get a comparable amount of levels semi-automatically, so the player can do other things in the meantime?
Berserk tends to cause movements to occur which actually slows things down - you'll have to have the enemy cornered and have one of your characters blocking access to it. This prevents any chance of movement and makes more charges occur. This is best with the mime. I think that the movement ability stops taking effect one the stat-raiser is frogged. I have used the berserk approach before, but only using the mime. With skill and speed at pressing buttons, the berserk method is a bit slower.
I tried this method with two stat-raisers, both frogs, berserked, and with a physical attack of 1. It's useful when you have other things to do (like wrapping presents). However, it's about 19% longer than manual input (4.1 seconds per action versus 4.9). I'm literally waiting for the upleveling as I'm typing this! It's only good for mimes though. The only time I need to interact is when the others go or Ramza wakes up. Still, your thought is a very good one. It cuts the monotony out!
Yeah, that's the main benefit that I was going for. How much 'locking in' on the opponent did you have to do in order to pull it off? If you feel like including the possibility in a future video, a good way to represent its use is to only include recording where you had to give input as 'active' time.
Is level-cycling two characters at once efficient? Well, up-levelling two at once, at least.
If you do it manually, you can also have the frogs attack your other characters for a L99 target.
Having 2 stat-raisers provides a 10% speed boost overall for phase 1 and a 35% speed boost for phase 2 (which becomes 10% if automated). I don't know what you mean by "locking in" though - you'll have to explain that one. To get an enemy in the corner, either hit it with "don't act", turn it into a frog with other enemies not as a frog still present, or turn it into a chicken. I intend on making a video of this, but mainly for having 2 stat-raisers. It's harder, but still possible.
By "locking in," I meant locking the enemy's location in a corner or something and blocking off all other sides so the AI doesn't bother moving between actions. You solved that already though; I didn't even think of using don't act or chicken, and that's perfect!
Apparently it's a 5% speed boost. I found that, with more fine-tuning of my method, I could get a level up (even without "move-get exp") in just 7 seconds, 3.5 seconds per action (and quite consistently). I even found more ways to speed up the process (care for a "warp speed) method?)! This makes the automation method only 71% as fast. I think I can even do 75 levels in 10 minutes - 68 is my current high. That would be the fastest leveling yet.
I'm hearing that Disgaea (of which I don't have yet) has a 9999 level cap, but it takes 100 hours to reach. 100 levels an hour or 1.7 a minute. In one minute, here, it's 8 or 9 levels, 5 times faster! FFT has the fastest leveling up that I'm aware of. It gives new sense to "rocket" being in "rocket speed method".... Even the later levels come very fast, still faster than Disgaea! This isn't tool-assisted either - I play using the real console!
Actually, with Disgaea your leveling speed depends on your supporting characters and equipment like in most games. Equipments can give 300% exp boosts and some maps are designed for leveling.
In a single hit you can level a character from 1 to around 300, but its not getting to level 9,999 that's tedious, rather getting 185,000 stored levels xD
Anywho, hope you have a happy Christmas, Ulillillia!

Why do you move back and forth 1 space, instead of just waiting?

Haha is this like a world record?

I have no idea. I've superseded this though. I can potentially get 70 levels in 10 minutes, though 68 is my current record.

You should check this out because I'm sure you could set a record.

Mmm. Any chance you DON'T know about FF Hacktics?
If you do, doing a 13030 play through with commentary would be a fun project eh? xD
If you don't...oh...you'll thank me so much. Search it up. Basically FFT on roids.

It would essentially be the same as loading a mod for a PC game such as The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, or even Doom.
