Standing reach is measured with one arm fully-extended overhead and the back extended so that any arch disappears. Otherwise you are simply inflating your vertical by retracting your shoulder blades with a weak two hand reach. This can add 5-6 inches depending on your height.
@PetrucciFan57 I was there that day and his reach was recorded separately from the actual jump. It was recorded just as you stated with one arm fully-extended. If you see him in person you will see that he can really jump that high.
