@joetoaster call it what u want, but he still was the first, but he still could sing.He used it not to JUST sing, but to add a touch of spice to a very spectacular performance. Now folks use it cause they just can't carry a straight tune, just sad.
The very first one to introduce the auto tune. But it sounded so much better when he did it. Thanx Peter for such great memories. PETER FRAMPTON COMES ALIVE. One of the best live albums to ever own. He was so fine on the cover of that album, and on rolling stone magazine. Will never forget you man.
@tatlonione ....It's not an Auto Tune...its called a talk box... People back then could actually sing and did not need any assistance form an Auto Tune..
ONE OF THE GREATEST SONG EVER WRITTEN AND PERFORMED. GREAT ROCK AND ROLL. APOLOGIES FOR THE CAPS LOCK, ITS JUST SO AMAZING I CANT CONTAIN MYSELF. WORDS CANT EXPLAIN THE IMMERSION I FEEL WHEN I LISTEN TO IT...
Wow! I had a flashback of a hangover I had way back then! Best damn hangover I ever had! Gawd I miss those days, that music, the times, and the great fun I had. Everytime I hear 'Frampton Comes Alive' my HAIR is thick and my WAIST is thin for a change. I wore that 8-track out in no time.
I saw Frampton August 14, 1976 at 3 rivers stadium in Pittsburgh PA. I was 14 and a big Frampton fan. It looked about to storm but as soon as he came out on stage the clouds parted and the sun came out. It was a great show that'll never forget.
Nice memory. The first time I heard this song was when I was 18 drinking hard (legal in '76) in the Mountainlair at the West Virginia University student union. Life and the music seemed to make so much sense at that time.
As a guitarist, Mr. Frampton should always pay homage to the inventor of the Talk Box, otherwise he'd just be average as a guitarist. To Mr. Frampton's credit, it didn't hurt to be born the day Jack Nicholson turned 13, if that helps anything. Nice tune, by the way.
Can you get any more crap around a classic song like this... vevo .... you make the shit so slow ....it makes you so low... eat shit vevo.. Limited life for you ...
Where the hell is the live version I hear on the radio all the time? this doesnt give me goosebumps like that one :-/ Screw you vevo, im not buzzed enough....
i got busted for stealing 200 dollars worth of shit from the mall yesterday and im 14...they let me go home with my mom and their gonna mail me a court date so im feelin pretty bad cuz my family is mad af at me right now :/ at least i got my music :D
@oneshot2killl I'm 16 and I like this music too, but my friends don't either. It's not bad, but it is sad, lol. I consider them "musically challanged"
when Aliens invade earth to destroy us, they will hear this music and bow down to us and then signal to all other life forms that this is, in fact, music central in the universe.
I loved him back in 1976 when I was 19. I told my Mom, all I wanted was the Frampton Comes Alive album for Christmas. One thing about Peter Frampton, he always smiled throughout his whole concerts. I like that. He still does.
@Aliendear You're right, those were the best of times. I remember I even wanted to put up a big poster of Peter in my college dorm room in 1977. But I was just a little too uncomfortable then. But to this day, have the Frampton Comes Alive album in my home. I'll never get rid of it.
Original version of "Do You Feel Like We Do" released in 1973 on the album "Frampton's Camel."
The well-known and long version, with talkbox, of this song was first released in 1976 on "Frampton Comes Alive!" - the performance was taped and recorded at SUNY (State University of New York) November 22, 1975. However, this version, at 14 minutes on the LP, was halved for single release.
The best song he did is titled: BABY, I LOVE YOUR WAY. The song got stuck into my mind that after four decades now, I could sing it heartily to the best of my enjoyment with my friends.
listen to this and SHOW ME THE WAY over and over for four hours and tell me what it's like; I think it would be cool? What do you think America? btw, anyone who doesn't respond is a bloody stool of a cunt.
Who cares about young. We made this star. Day on the Green? I like that young people like Framton Dada etc. Play your guitar then we will talk.Listen to Dada and good musicians. Smoke yo ass
6/6 The main difference, I'd say, is probably that back in those days you had to be really really good at doing music in order to get your moments of fame. Today your creativity (or marketing ability) can get your musical message across a wide audience very fast (and often meteoricaly). Weather that's good or bad I leave to each of you to decide.
5/6 I'm not gonna dwell much in opinative considerations about which music is better. New ground is broken every day in music as in other fields of the arts. I, for one, am glad that's the case. On the other hand, without geniuses who dared to break the rules in their own time like Peter Frampton did, there probably would be no creative evolution that would ultimately lead to auto tune.
4/6 At that moment the sound from the guitar is mixed with the sound comming from the microphone which is basicaly the same note but changed by a mini echo chamber (your mouth). Also, when you speak you don't actualy need to be using your vocal chords but you use the guitar sound and modulate it with your mouth and tongue ending in a result that is equivalent to getting the guitar to talk.
3/6 Voice Box is completely different. Voice Box is 100% analog. You get the sound out of a speaker and drive it through a plastic tubeanding neaar the microphone. If you used a speaker near the mic you'd get a nasty effect called feedback, resulting in a loud unwanted screechy sound. The you put that tube in your mouth and you use your mouth cavity to modulate the sound that comes from the guitar.
2/6 Examples of the first case can be heard in the works of many wannabe soul, rap,R&B and funky singers.Examples of of great auto tune use exist too, like those of the Gregory Brothers - "Autotune the news" (available on youtube and worthwhile checking) or John Boswell's Symphony of Science (check website). In both these 2 examples, Auto tune is used to "make" people sing in instances when they were just talking, so you undertsand how powerful that tool is.
1/6 Any kid knows, nowadays, how sound software can change the pitch of a sound by making the frequency raise or drop and achieving a higher or lower pitch, or musical note. Doing that in a studio or in real time, so that the notes being sung match the ones on the score is Auto Tune. Now, Auto tune was designed to correct flaws in singing by less then optimal performances, BUT it' s been, since then, used in creative ways that go from the downright absurd to extremely well achieved creations.
well im not young. but , i still have the 8 - track tape i bought new when frampton comes alive , first came out.and , i still listen to it in my drum studio. on my craig power play 8 track player.
PS For all of the kids asking (being skeptical) about the "talk box", keep in mind the day & age ...? In the 70s, this was ground-breaking. Granted, it seems antiquated now, but you have to look at it in context. (To make it even more clear: They didn't have what we have now, so don't judge accordingly.)
@marianamere god who cares what kids think..the "I Know"generation should try actually learning something before they claim they know it. Like my dad says-get out there well u still know everything.
@marianamere The music they have now, so much of it isn't music. It's the tecno crap and beat; everything but a melody and excellent voice to accompany it. The music today, is shallow, talentless, filled with hate and other stupid messages echoed mindlessly by an idiot generation. This generation has no idea how to enjoy life and the music played. I love seanmahon's comment ... the "I Know" generation; the "I Know so they do not see how uneducated and unwise I am" generation. But why digress?
Dear Vevo, i dont care about "Asking Alexandria" or whatever this new so called music is these days please take it off and let me enjoy the classics. Thank you
THAT IS SO AWESOME!!!!
