  • one thing I never understood, was if Flint put Ben Gunn ashore, how did Ben know what Flints last words were?

  • PIG NUTS? DAMN YOUR EYES LOL

  • keep digging boys you'll find some pig nuts i reckon----lol--- classic

  • anyone that doesn't like this movie and thinks it's the best version gets THE BLACK SPOT ya lubber

  • Nooooo, I can't see the last part because it has been blocked in my country! And only the last part. Damn ... I hope they will at least release the DVD here.

  • Nothing they make in the future and certainly nothing they made in the past will ever compare to this version. It is true to the book and has the best cast. Period.

  • This isn't a very good adaption at all, but I still like soooo much since Heston and Bale star in it.

  • @musketeer39 oh i disagree. when i first read Treasure Island some time ago, I looked up the movie adaptations and by far, out of the ones I've seen, this is the most faithful of them all. Combine that with actors such as Bale, Heston and Pete Postlewhaite (I can't spell that guys name, by thunder) it is actually a gem among movie adaptations. One of the best ever made.

It SO needs to be on DVD

  • Sorry to harp on the theme, but is a remake likely to use one-tenth of the wonderful lines referenced by all the people who adore this movie? You have to have a scriptwriter with an ear for dialogue and actors that can deliver the sense that every line is completely spontaneous and authentic. How many other movies are there - other than maybe "Casablanca" or "The Maltese Falcon" - where viewers just hug themselves at every line because it simply cannot be bettered? You can't buy love with SFX.

  • I agree with slightlygrouchy. Perfection cannot be improved upon. This has the most amazing cast, the best script (and the most true to the book), the most beautiful Hispaniola, the most authentic action scenes for the period, and the most spot-on direction. All a remake is likely to do is insert a lot of over-the-top violence and anachronisms, add an unnecessary subplot or two, and mistake bigger for better. I can think of a thousand ways to ruin it, but not one to make it better.

  • Get ready for the best version of the story in 2012......yes they are making it......

  • @michaelforthriller - How do you know it's going to be the best? Your claim is merely industry hype. What's wrong with this version, anyway? There is almost universal agreement that it is perfect. I can't see how it can be improved upon. The cast is fantastic, the acting amazing, the script is marvellous, and the direction flawless.

  • @michaelforthriller yes please bring on the CGI and the 3D, screw character and plot, it will be the best yet*sighs*

  • @LtRacjack12 i agree with you on everything . an overload of cgi and 3d could kill a movie. That's the bad thing about movies today. I just wish it turns out good.

  • @michaelforthriller I hope so too, I am just very jaded after seeing what they did to one of my childhood favorites, Clash of the Titans.

  • "By thunder that Flint were a cold basterd."

  • "I see the doctor signal you to run, I see you say no. That's one to you Jim!"

  • "a point north and north nor'east."...gee what direction are they going?

  • @wakeoftheflood2

    the direction could be:

one point (on a compass) North of North by Northeast.

look at an old compass and it should be very clear
