It does not assume suffering is a necessarily evil, it assumes that God knows suffering is a necessarily evil if He exists, proven by the fact he wrote himself into the "Script" to suffer as Jesus suffered the worse death imaginable. Therefore, making it logical for a Christian to simply say that the idea that suffering is a necessary evil must be true because God knew it but it is beyond their understanding why this is.

But what you just pointed out was that Christians believe God and Jesus are one, meaning that God knowingly made himself suffer. If the bible is true, that's pretty radical. . I think it's because Jesus was the only sinless person and because of that he was able to take all sins upon himself. The bible is very clear it does not absolve humans of their sinful nature(Ever met a Christian? Hahahaa. ), it forgives them.

My idea of what many Christians believe is that it is because Jesus is the only one who is sinless so his death atones for all sin, which helps me because I can then gain salvation. But the bible itself teaches there is one thing we can never know: The thoughts of God. According to the bible we cannot always know why God does what he does. Logical because if we knew the thoughts of God we would in fact be God.

@cirquexduxseph Actually evolution is a theory, and every theory has flaws. New evidence shows up all the time that disproves existing theories, look at relativity. Einstein's theory of relativity was the foundation for modern physics, but after the discovery of a new particle it is possible to be proven false. Theories are NOT facts. And nobody has ever seen the Big Bang Theory ever. Here's a challenge: Prove to me you have thoughts using only facts (and "everybody else has thoughts" is not).
@XenteMusic I wouldn't claim relativity has been disproven. The particles arrived 60 nanoseconds ahead of a predicted time and it could easily be a mis-synchronization or faulty reader. The results have not been reproduced in subsequent tests. While evolution is a theory. It, like relativity, there is overwhelming evidence to support it.

@XenteMusic evolution and big bang theory aren't beliefs they're just demonstrably the most accurate way of explanation but if one part of any theory is disproved or comes to light then yes it evolves. It's how medicine works. Here's a shot that can cure a cold but it killed a lab rat so something was wrong...now that it's fixed the lab rat is alive and cold is gone...(the progression of science).
@XenteMusic The thing that differs with science and religion is...hypothetically speaking say Newton was to never have existed (like this knowledge came to light)...his laws or the laws founded in his name would still be in practice and teachings because they can be proven and demonstrated. @XenteMusic Just because science hasn't disproved a religion, that doesn't make the religion anymore correct. People who care about what they believe in are people who want to know it's right. There's no problem at all with there being a god(s) as a creator but the default position (considering how many religions there are and how many denomonations each one has) is disbelief. @XenteMusic I do care what others believe, not in the sense that I want them to all think like me but, we live in a society. "Our beliefs inform our actions and our actions have consequences." Peoples beliefs are a huge deciding factor in how my life is going to be. They can vote and change school policy (potentially into ignorance). I'd have to say that religion can be disproved but a god cannot. Religion may not have caused a lot of hatred but there has been plenty in it's name.

And it's true, religion decides what a lot of people do. But for all Christians, it should always be based on love (though people don't listen to that). The two more important messages in Christianity are to love God and to love others.

Most Old Testament stuff is metaphorical, so I obviously don't believe it literally (for the record I believe in the Big Bang Theory and Evolution). And BTW, there is great disagreement in the scientific community about our origins, there is no single theory for the origin of matter that all of the scientists believe.

It does not assume suffering is a necessarily evil, it assumes that God knows suffering is a necessarily evil if He exists, proven by the fact he wrote himself into the "Script" to suffer as Jesus suffered the worse death imaginable. Therefore, making it logical for a Christian to simply say that the idea that suffering is a necessary evil must be true because God knew it but it is beyond their understanding why this is.

But what you just pointed out was that Christians believe God and Jesus are one, meaning that God knowingly made himself suffer. If the bible is true, that's pretty radical. . I think it's because Jesus was the only sinless person and because of that he was able to take all sins upon himself. My idea of what many Christians believe is that it is because Jesus is the only one who is sinless so his death atones for all sin, which helps me because I can then gain salvation. But the bible itself teaches there is one thing we can never know: The thoughts of God. According to the bible we cannot always know why God does what he does. Logical because if we knew the thoughts of God we would in fact be God.

@cirquexduxseph Actually evolution is a theory, and every theory has flaws. New evidence shows up all the time that disproves existing theories, look at relativity. Einstein's theory of relativity was the foundation for modern physics, but after the discovery of a new particle it is possible to be proven false. Theories are NOT facts. And nobody has ever seen the Big Bang Theory ever. Here's a challenge: Prove to me you have thoughts using only facts (and "everybody else has thoughts" is not).

@XenteMusic I wouldn't claim relativity has been disproven. The particles arrived 60 nanoseconds ahead of a predicted time and it could easily be a mis-synchronization or faulty reader. The results have not been reproduced in subsequent tests. While evolution is a theory. It, like relativity, there is overwhelming evidence to support it.

You're making intelligent points, but to insult religion simply because you don't believe doesn't seem right. Religion is supposed to teach people to be good and to make the world a better place, it's humanity which takes the concept and perverts it to benefit themselves. And I know that relativity is not fully false, but if the findings are verified then it will have to be adjusted :)

There's no problem at all with there being a god(s) as a creator but the default position (considering how many religions there are and how many denomonations each one has) is disbelief. @XenteMusic I do care what others believe, not in the sense that I want them to all think like me but, we live in a society. "Our beliefs inform our actions and our actions have consequences." Peoples beliefs are a huge deciding factor in how my life is going to be. They can vote and change school policy (potentially into ignorance). I'd have to say that religion can be disproved but a god cannot. Religion may not have caused a lot of hatred but there has been plenty in it's name.

And it's true, religion decides what a lot of people do. But for all Christians, it should always be based on love (though people don't listen to that). The two more important messages in Christianity are to love God and to love others.

Most Old Testament stuff is metaphorical, so I obviously don't believe it literally (for the record I believe in the Big Bang Theory and Evolution). And BTW, there is great disagreement in the scientific community about our origins, there is no single theory for the origin of matter that all of the scientists believe.

NATURAL SELECTION DOESN'T PRODUCE ANYTHING. It can only "select" from variations produced having survival value. It only operates once there is life and reproduction, not before, so it couldn't have been involved in life's origins. If a variation occurs that helps a species survive, then that species is going to survive (be "selected'). That's all that natural selection is! It's a passive process in nature. They can reconstruct whatever they want from these bones, and they have. APES ARE QUITE COMFORTABLE IN HOW THEY WALK, just as humans are quite comfortable in how they walk. Even a slight change in the position of a muscle or bone, for either, would be excruciatingly painful and would not be an advantage for survival. yes, i did understand that. But my comments were mainly to say that the fact that you cannot "prove" or "disprove" the existence of a god seems irrelevant. It might be impossible to disprove the existence of a god, but that doesn't mean that it's not irrational to believe in a god.
