  • Why was this not in the game?

  • Whatever happened to this planed game element? Seriously Valve, I was looking forward to seeing this in the game and was very disappointed. Very big missed opportunity here.

  • this should be a dlc, i would buy it!!!

  • Darn that would have been fun!

  • I see why they took this out of the game and I understand completely but, man, I WISH SO BAD I COULD'VE DONE THIS A FEW TIMES!

  • Poor little trurrets

  • This would of been so fun to kill Wheatly with!

  • Why did you get rid of it?! WHY VALVE, WHY?!

  • The vent is a lie

  • "WHEEEEEeeeeee..."

  • this isnt in the game because it is over poweres and valvve announced it ages ago

  • i lol'd so hard at 1:09 'cause he like "GTFO MAI WAYZ"

  • Send those turrets to HELL!!! Let em ROT in a never ending tube o HELL

  • "The Pneumatic Diversity Vent was cut from testing in Portal 2 after playtesters had issues with its use in gameplay, as well as Valve deciding that it didn't have much use other than eliminating turrets".

    Combine OverWiki

  • tell me valve. why the hell would they put this on the beta versions of the game, advertise it and then when the full game comes out, not put this feature in there?

  • @spongeyperson1000 Because what use would it have in the game? It wouldn't really be able to do anything special.

  • @spongeyperson1000 Because it's overpowered?

  • Hey, just wondering- why isn't this testing element in the game? When I first saw the trailer, I was looking forward to it.

  • @Cerberus42100 they ran out of time

  • Maybe these will be in Portal 3? ;__;

  • isn't it against the laws of physics to have a vacum pull strong enough to pull steel (or what ever that wall is made of) yet not strong enough to pull a human?

  • @madman101ish

    one word

    Portals

  • @madman101ish This was never in the game, so we don't really know. But in theory, it may be able to suck up the player "Chell," should they get close enough. We can't tell from this because they never really got close enough to justify getting sucked up.

  • @madman101ish Well, actually, at 0:48 he did seem to get close enough, so you might be right.

  • 0:08 There's a dog on the wall.

  • The Pneumatic Diversity Vent is a lie! D:

I hope it will be in the test chamber creator.

  • That awkward moment when it is'nt in the game

P.S. You just lost the game

    :troll:

  • @Supsy0

    FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUuuuuuuuu...

  • @Supsy0 UPDATE, :umad:

  • Comment removed

  • @Annfrank5945 :epicfuu:

  • wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

  • THIS CHAMBER HAVE FINALLY BEEN MADE!

PLAY IT AND MORE BY FOLLOWING THE LINK IN THIS VIDEO!

    /watch?v=B8wb9VkNphk&feature=related

  • is there a way i can download this map i think it would be fun

  • please tell me why they did not put this awesome feature in the game?

  • I was looking forward to this before getting the game :P I guess they had a point though when removing it, it wasn't really good for very much other than killing turrets.

  • Didn't they get rid of this partly because it made the turrets too easy to deal with, or something like that? Well, they were too easy to deal with anyway. So they might as well have left it in.

  • Where can I get this level?

  • I guess this was just something that never came to be. It's really cool though, great idea for sure

  • Turrets says : Nooouuu...Nooou...Nooouu....O my god!

  • 1:09

    "there you- FUUUUUUUUUU"

  • lol turrets

    "weeeeeee"

  • "Oh, in case you get sucked inside the Pneumatic Diversity Vent, here's some advise that lab boys game me: DO NOT GET SUCKED BY THE PNEUMATIC DIVERSITY VENT!"

    -Cave Johnson, Portal™ 2

  • The Pneumatic Diversity Vent was cut from testing in Portal 2 after playtesters had issues with its use in gameplay, as well as Valve deciding that it didn't have much use other than eliminating turrets.

  • Well, that sucks. This would have made for a fun gameplay mechanic, anyway.

  • This'll probably be in DLC soon.

  • @WoWkemon90 No. The DLC is already ready and there were no such diversity vents.

  • @TrackManiaFtw I'm expecting more DLC.

  • @WoWkemon90 Me too :D

  • 1:07 Hell---

  • Am I the only one who's wondering what happens if you walk underneath it?

  • not sure but I think this was left out on the final game. If so, why?

  • When you drop them on the floor, turrets only scream once.

    Good enough for science.

NOT good enough for Aperture Science.

With the Pneumatic Diversity Vent and the Two-Portal Device, you can make your turrets scream in an endless loop.

  • why was't this in the game? i know it was yes, but not really for tests

  • @EEVEESPRIT Valve found it to be ultimately useless.

  • @EEVEESPRIT they couldn't think about anything to do with it beside killing Turrets

  • Comment removed

  • i loled a little bit when it just went 'WHEE' out of nowhere in the beginning.

  • This level is too easy and I guess they didn't have any other ideas for this vent. Too bad, but anyways the game is splendid! :D

  • This needs to be in Portal 3, they look entertaining!

  • MAKE A MOD OR SOMETHING THAT INCLUDES THEM PLEASE I WAS LOOKING FORWARD TO THEM

  • Why arent these in the final game?

  • Shame this didn't get into the real game xD

  • why didnt they include this in the game?

  • Am I the only one that doesn't remember this thing _at all_?

  • @ArceusInator They never were in the game. They couldn't find ways to implement them into the puzzles, So they were removed from the released version, along with Adhesion Gel and Hover Turrets.

  • @RPGSoundtrack It's a pity, really. The Pneumatic Diversity Vent is the thing I was looking forward to the most.

  • @ArceusInator It was used in the part with the neurotoxin generator. But sadly only there. Though I don't know about Co-op. I haven't played through the DLC yet.

  • wiiiiiiii! :D

  • lol there are anyone of this on tests!

  • I hope this makes it as a mechanic into Portal 3. Looks like you could do a lot of interesting portaling with it, too.

  • @GodofReapers

They're probably not going to make a Portal 3. I don't really want them too, but if they do, that's cool with me. I'd get it.

  • At the end one of the turrents said shit lolz i thought inly defective ones cussed

  • Deal with turrets...LIKE A BOSS

  • Comment removed

  • Y U NO IN GAME

  • @EmoticonMayhem It is in the game. Chell and Wheatley get sucked into it after you shut off the neurotoxin generator.

  • @328805 He means as a puzzle element not a story element

  • @Spongehead1000 he didn't specify

  • @EmoticonMayhem If you did play the game, the part when you shut down the neuro-toxin, you go through one. Its not inplemented as it shows here, but is implemented.

  • I wonder if Valve would consider making a DLC package for P2, adding some new levels and add-ons like this...

  • I WANT THIS TO BE IN THE GAME

  • THE VENT IS A LIE

  • aw mam this looks cool!

  • 1:12 THERE WAS NO EMANCIPATION GRILL YET YOU CAN HEAR THE SOUND OF PORTALS DISAPPEARING

  • I never saw one of these in the game.

  • 00:18

    WHEEEeeeeee

  • This was cut at the last minute of development - They didn't have time to finish this completely, therefore, it was cut. But you can see it (somewhat) in Chapter 4 or 5, sometime around when Wheatley tells you to go on your own for a bit.

  • This would be awesome with this in the game! :D

  • 1:08

    Chell: ...

    Turret: ... Hell-

    *pvphuwrllll*

    Turret: AAAAAaaoooh.....

  • This was used to get to the Art Therapy room if u downloaded Peer Review DLC for Portal 2 which is free

  • The Pneumatic Diversity Vent was a lie :'(

  • U never even use this in the game!

  • This was the video that made me buy portal 2, i guess Valve thought it was pretty lame.

  • Man that sucks.

  • Y U No put this in the game?

  • why dont they have these on portal

  • You could count the tubing you go through at the end of Chapter 5 as one of these, but it's still not a testing element.

  • Cave Johnson here and investors have been asking what would happen if a test subject was sucked into a Pneumatic Diversity Vent. Here's what the lab boys tell me. DO NOT GET SUCKED INTO THE PNEUMATIC DIVERSITY VENT. We still are figuring out where they dump the crap that gets pulled into it. But hell, I don't give a damn. Caroline, have the scientists made my COMBUSTIBLE LEMON yet?

  • @awesomeabsol

Played portal 1? You have to jump in one.

  • @awesomeabsol I love this comments with changed lines from Portal 2 (:

  • Next DLC have to include this!

  • I forgot these were supposed to be in the game lol

  • I think it was removed because testers were having nausea while testing it.

  • poor turrets!!!!

i know their evil but soo cute!!

  • @MrSquidcakes I know! especially the one that says "No hard feelings" when you destroy it :(

  • They put a end to this machine due to the fact that it only served one purpose, geting rid of turrets.

Other gels and the launch pad served many different purposes through-out the game.

  • They should include this in Portal 3.

  • Has anyone else noticed that at 0:45 you're not sucked in through the portal?

  • Thanks, Valve, for not including this very helpful device.

  • I think that Valve didn't put this in Portal 2 because it wasn't challenging enough.

  • They shouldn't have removed this... It looks so fun

  • @SrPiromaniaco I KNOW RIGHT????!!!!!!!!

  • i think this was cut because it didnt have much need and the ways it would be used arnt pullze based so the posibilitys are limited

  • Probably cut because too much objects and stuff to tweak and account for. Like the walls shredding off then closing back up

  • Why was this cut? It's awesome!

  • turret:weeeeeeeeeee!

  • 1:25 the most epic infinite theme park ride :D

  • 1: 08 Turret: Hello-OOUOUO

  • i die a little bit when i hear them cry in pain :'[

  • WHEEEEE ~

  • I want to see these show up in upcoming DLC along with more test chambers from when the facility is fully functional because those look very nice.

  • Though this was a neat feature, I can see why it was cut.

It's cool to see things get sucked up and such, but it essentially was an ez mode turret killer. Not much else you could do with it, seeing as it overlapped with the more creative ways you could take out turrets in-game.

  • @tomyb15

    they wont. they got cut

  • Like most things cut from Portal 2, it must of been too hard for testers.

  • @undisputed4life i don't see what is hard in here, it's an easy way (easier than repulsion gel) to get rid of those turrets

  • AWWW! I could've had SO much fun with these!

  • WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

  • I Won the game in my PS3 yesterday and the pneumatic diversity vents never appeared. where in the gane they appear?

  • Never in the game. Though it was good.

  • But-But vaccumes are fun!

    :(

  • Who else wants this to be in the new DLC coming out October 4.

  • Talk about infinite suckage.

  • This so would have been fun to use in testing, and the video was posted on my 19th birthday.

  • is this a custom map or is it in single player by defalt

  • Maybe it could slow down the game if many panels were removed with it.

  • Oh shit it breaks the damm wall.

  • WEEE

  • I wonder what would happen if you fell into one? Maybe that's why it was cut?

  • @DWSimmy you did fakk in one. it was part of the game.

  • @DWSimmy I don't think it was strong enough to suck you in. Look what happens at 0:46 when she goes in front of the portal that sucked the turret through. Then again, she did come out of cyro-sleep having had gained a few pounds.......

  • @DWSimmy actualy it was cut because of *SERIOUS SPOILER ALERT*

    *

    *

    *

    *

    *

it would be lame in the en when you get sucked to the moon through a portal because you could just use a diversty vent.

  • @DWSimmy Chells too fat to be sucked in

  • @DWSimmy I think It would kill you and you'd restart, unless one of them lead to a Ratman den or something

  • @DWSimmy I think that they thought it wasn't challenging enough.

  • @DWSimmy Chell is too fat to be sucked up by those venst xD

  • @DWSimmy Well, as seen in 0:45, Chell was infront of the vent, so maybe the power of this vent was not enought for pulling very heavy player.

  • Weeeeeeeeee :3

  • Shame it got cut

  • it looks like a gun

  • Like in portals: still alive.

They may make a portal 2: Player pack or something...

  • PORTAL 3!

  • R.I.P

    Pneumatic Diversity Vent

    2011.

  • These aren't included in the official maps, yes, but however, it IS perfectly possible to include them in your custom maps.

  • This would've saved Portal 2, in my eyes. Great job Valve.

  • @JoesGuy portal 2 didnt need saving.

  • @theultamatelife666

Yes it did. Read what I said.

  • XD at 1:06 hello-AHHH!!!!

  • loved how the last turret said weee!!!

btw i didnt know who gabe newell was untill i was a video mocking him (for some reason i havent understood properly sure alot of people are overweight but who cares but i now know that he's the creator/owner of steam seen a few videos after that adn he seems to be a average guy just like everybody else (not taking with his wealth and money here) and if this is able to reach him tell him i like his work and that it would be nice to get to meet him :)

  • I hope they add that in the free DLC.

    Coming in Mid-September

  • Doesn't mean they can't add it in future test chamber updates. Would be interesting, they probably just need time to figure out how to make challenging puzzles, rather than just turret relocation.

I remember this. Then when the game came out, I had completely forgotten about it and didn't notice their lack of inclusion, so I'm pretty sure they were excluded with good reason, I'm hoping the mechanics would be available to mappers. Someone will come up with something brilliant for them :)

  • They switched this out for the wight gel

  • Weeeeeeeeeee-OH NO!!!!!

  • I would say Portal 2 should have included this, but that implies that Portal 2 isn't perfect already.

  • @bombadecasa Msybe they will put this in a portal 3?

  • @supergreatsuper

Valve thinks the number 3 is too high

  • JUMP INTO IT!!!! XD
