If you didn't need a 3/4 ton truck to haul most of these campers you would see more of them. Yes, you could go with a pop up model on a half ton but I wouldn't want to mess with that.

Truck campers are the most expensive unpowered RV per square foot. However they are built stronger since they are expected to be taken off road & are unquestionably the most versatile RV type out there. That is why I have owned 2 so far including my current SnowRiver. That particular camper even has leather recliners.

I like what you said: "Bigger isn't better, better is better". I would add that most people, when saddled with what amounts to another mortgage on a strictly temporary home, become unhappy pretty quickly with the lack of value versus debt.

@CI9TK agree with your comment. Also many buyers of motor RV's also purchase a small car to tow. I think the truck camper option is a smart buy for a lot of people.
