  • The superpowers thing sounded like the 4400 witch i loved.

  • I don't think anything is on par with this series. However, at his pace, I doubt it will ever get finished.

  • @beef4u2use Agreed. Considering how long Martin's writing process is combined with his age has me very worried about the series' end.

  • @TrojanMike60

Surely he's got notes. Don't worry too much. By the time you have grand kinds you'll finally know the end.

  • just finished Clash of Kings earlier today. Damn what a great series this is.

  • @KingRobbStark: The malazan series on par with a song of ice and fire? The Malazan series is as good as Dragon Ball Z is good. Don't get me wrong I love DBZ but comparing the Malazan series with a novel like the A Song of Ice and Fire is plain stupid

  • @lisovc2 why? I've heard a lot of people that perfer Erikson over Martin

  • @FiveFingerRainRap that's their opinion, this is mine. just different point of views, sorry for being so definitive

  • @lisovc2 No, I was just interested in your opinion, not trying to start an argument. It's just that I'm reading the Malazan books at the mo, and really loving them, but am also really looking forward to starting Martin's books too. What is it, to you, that makes A Song of Ice and Fire so much better?

  • Writers work at their own pace. If it takes GRRM 7 years to write a book, I'm all for it, because I know that that's what it takes for HIM to put out his best.

Other writers write faster, and are no less or greater than he is. It's just a preference thing.

  • Read all books so far in the series 3 times cant wait to see the series and read Dance!

  • @KingRobbStark Mmmm ? Martin was writing and editing for living longer than I live, which definitely qualifies him as professional (from profession). . What you may wish to say that Martin is not a commercial writer, sprouting a book every year regardless for quality and trying to ride previous successes by distributing half baked novels. Indeed Martin doesn't seem to do that, he is an artist,, and thank god for that.

  • @mortalclarification Please don't give me that bullshit. Time and quality are no indication. I mean just look at Stevenson and his Malazan series. They are (in my opinion) on par with Martin's Song of Ice and Fire, and he published (until recently) a book each year. Don't get me wrong, I will buy, read, and enjoy the book when it comes out. Though my problem (not really) is that Martin as deadlines (to his publishers) that he does not respect. That makes him unprofessional.

  • @KingRobbStark To each his own, I guess. Though I enjoyed Stevenson's Malazan, I found it lacking, And as far as Fantasy concerned, GRRM's SOIAF is the only series I read 5 times and realized each time I missed few details that shed more light on the story, So I guess GRRM really addresses readers like me. You should blame me not him :).

Robb, I think you lost your head if you compare SOIAF to the Malazan ( couldn't help myself sorry) :D

  • @mortalclarification Then I blame you. I'm glad we settled this.

    (Thats a funny one, LOL).

  • @mortalclarification

The dude has made his livelyhood in a variety of different mediums; writing, editing, producing TV shows, I think, etc. he doesn't tie himself to one thing. Now, add to that the obvious fact that he's a perfectionist and you have a very long development periods. So you're right, and I'd add that aAnyone who says he doesn't work hard enough is a moron.

  • cool video. love George's books I'm reading Clash of Kings now

  • @warkwarkchoco haha i just finished a clash of kings about 4-5 days ago its great i actually had the first two books for like a year but never read it because i thought it wasn't going to be good and only bought it on a whim. then i actually read it and wowowowowo got addicted so fast, like crack if i were to compare it to something to give a sense of how hooked i was. just started a storm of swords and can't wait for the new book to come out hopefully a dance with dragons has a 2011 release!
