Bullshit, Janet had to swim a superhuman WR because the place getters both smashed the current OR and silver was JUST outside the current WR. Not taking away from Janet at all, that she was able to pull out that swim, when under that sort of pressure (and set a WR that would stand for nearly 20 years) but the commentry is fucking ridiculous.
I remember Janet well in these races. All 5'4" of her against the big East German swimmer Friedrich at 6'2" and Janet just trashed the field
