  • Students don't need to worry about portable textbooks. Unless they have an backpack on their back's. Who cares about iPad's are portable in leraring. iPad's are thin but big that look like a tablet. iPad's and tablets are not portable because their thin but big. How can you put and iPad on a packet in studens bags?!?!

  • YAY WONT HAVE TO CARRY SO MANY TEXTBOOKS

  • Apple is a technology for rich. It can never bridge the infra gap.

  • @tubekoma Modern Combat 3, bro!

  • @de01e everything they are offering here is free... except the text book you buy - but schools need to buy the physical text books too right? So how is this making them significantly richer? And as for the marketing comment - that is a basic part of any business. How will anyone know about a product if you dont market it? Do you honestly not see how great this sort of stuff can be for education? Be a little more open minded stop being selfish. This is a good thing. Open your eyes.

  • @tyculbert stuff from google/android is also for free. unfortunately there is not the aim to bring quality and benefits to people, but to make money out of them... for marketing reasons. sorry, no point for free stuff. 2) marketing: is a desperate strategy to promote products which are otherwise not sold. I am very open minded, but these kind of strategies are not: building products for a particular system/software only. In the end: stock holders happy, 3rd world workers ill. sorry.

  • i don't mean to be mean, but for FFS Steve is dead. Stop comparing him to the team he entrusted Apple with....that's all

  • I like it before I watch it. everything about apple will come out perfect..

  • I'm so waiting for iPad 3 keynote! :)

  • @Viczey me too;)

  • I don't want a clone of Steve Jobs. Phil is fine for where Apple is presently. Thanks for the vid!

  • just imagine, how many students will just play angry birds in class? -_-

  • great

  • Thanks Apple for all those things you had presented for this new generation. I hope my country one day understand this and follow the ideas of northern countries.

  • i might have liked the teacher video if they didnt have the depressing music

  • it looks like this guy is trying to emulate Steve......but he fails..miserably.

  • Apple has the tech. Lets resurrect Steve.

  • once books become available internationally, like CIE, IB, Edexel, and all the others, i will really gain momentum and textbooks will be in deep trouble

  • what about assignments? can we do written assignments on such platforms like iPads then hand the assignments to the teachers by sending it to them via iPad?

  • @saintedrea Well there are apps on the iPad like Pages, which is essentially a word processor, that could be used for chapter reviews and written reports. There's also an app called Keynote, which is Apple's version of PowerPoint, where you can make presentations right on the iPad. And all of these documents can be shared via Mail on the iPad, so sending assignments to your professor would be a snap, and viewing them afterward even easier.

God, I sound like an apple marketer, don't I?

  • Jobs was so much better. All the presentations he was doing himself. Cook is just doing business-stuff.

  • *company*

  • Apple is a great com

  • I've just watched about 2 minutes 'till now and I can see the very high enthusiasm of Phil Schiller...

Holy cow man! Is he still crying Job's death ?

  • It would be better if the iPad was 399$ for a16gb

  • Whats the name of the song at 43:48 ?

  • Apple share soar on the backs of chinese slaves at foxconn. Can't make 300 bucks profit on every phone if you manufacture in the U.S. oh and those pesky safety regulations. The good news is they put nets on the buildings at foxconn to force the employees to commit suicide elsewhere. Karma is a bitch eh stevie?

  • Steve Jobs has started a movement to changed the world. Thank you and god bless.

  • those awkward moments when the speakers stay silent expecting an applause but there is none....

  • Keynote 

    :)

  • It was a decent presentation. I don't think I like Phil as the front runner of the presentation. Obviously none of them will compare to Steve, although I did find that I liked Tim Cook during the iPhone 4S keynote. I like Phil, just not as the lead man, I think he does better when he's called up to the stage. One of my favorites to watch is Scott Forstall, I think he does a fantastic job presenting.

  • It sucks that there is no textbooks for Canadians :(

  • Comment removed

  • It says voppyright in the description

  • @jakel788 changed lol.i new it but wanted o upload the keynote soon as possible for youtube guys and apple fans

  • only problem I have with this is eye soreness

  • Great ideas and presentation but Phil just doesn't have the charisma and presence... He just doesn't exude confidence, plus his looks...with all the warts on his face and shit. I like the guy but Apple needs a new front man, Johnny Ive I'm sure would be better.

  • Come Schiller, relax man. Spend a little time inviting your audience and making them feel at home. It felt like you were reading presentation, and that you were a little nervous. Relax.

  • @bakari45 Remember who he is addressing - the publishers. As I understand it that's who was invited to this event - reps of the publishers.

  • WHEN WILL THE NEW MACBOOK PRO COME OUT !!!!!!!!!

  • Phil Schiller might be a genius, but not a genius presenter. Eddy Cue was the best in this video. Steve is missing!

  • Really wanted to watch it all, but stopped. Waste of time. Completely wrong approach, especially when profits and corporate greed involved. LOL also remember what Steve Jobs said about problems in education and how technology is not an answer.

  • Watched this on my iPad 2... :)

  • @LILPainY it's because people in your school ARE REATARDED

  • Long awaited digitally immersive eduction has finally arrived for students - Truly fantastic step forward!

Makes me want to get the Textbooks etc. and I haven't been to school for a few years now. If I had that back then I would make full use of it! Brilliant!

  • I´m in technologyschool, we all get a Ipad so we can learn how to jailbreak? XD kidding but everyone gets a free mac just to bad noone likes it. Even the teachers don´t like macs. One last thing my school already use digital books, and we get them for free.

  • @LILPainY Clearly the English program at your school is substandard.

  • With Steve, I used to hope that the keynotes last as long as possible. Phil Schiller and Tim Cook are great, but I can't help myself to hope that the Keynote will be short and that they will go directly to the point. I want Steve back, I really do, HE is Apple and as an Apple fanboy, I dare say that I miss him.

  • As an A level student in London I think this is another apple load of nonsense. My chemistry teacher never ever uses much technology and refuses to touch what he sees as 'boring and useless' exam set textbooks. Apple seems to assume this would make him a bad and dull teacher but in reality everyone in the school loves him, he's hilarious and he gets amazing results and, in a comprehensive in London, gets around 90 pupils out of 180 choosing chemistry for a level.

  • @jamespking1995 I'm in zambia, I do IGCSE, and my chemistry teacher is also like that. In fact. the entire school is old-fashioned. I like the chemistry teacher but am not sure about the school... they are so cheap that they photocopy textbooks. This will still be good

    to have though

  • @C5FlyingSquad same problem here in Argentina :(

  • This was like my education, as in I fell asleep about 2 mins into it

  • another fantastic app on iOS , but this powerpoint was boring without steve =(

  • I wish apple would publish textbooks from Holt McDougal

  • wondering what is the effect of this on learning

  • How the fuck is a book not searchable?!?!?!?!

  • @Cballin If Apple devs read that comment, they might say "damn, we knew we forgot something!"

  • What about learning for adults?

  • I can't wait till this happens I can play angry birds in the middle of lessons

    :)

  • I hope one day they plan to cover the uk curriculum

  • 0:00:30

    ur welcome

  • @darktennisball Trying to get a thumbs up? You failed anyway.

  • @vampired305 I forgot what my comment was but i did not try to fail *anyway*

  • steve jobs was so much better!

  • @joshhabif1245 yea.same here.but Apple needs the right man who can make same legacy of steve

  • @OfficialSushy that's sorta hard to find someone like him

  • @joshhabif1245 Duhh everyone knows that but tim cook isnt bad Though (phil schiller should've bin CEO)

  • "even if they get a new device later, they can redownload the books at any time." ... yes, it is apple's hint of its new upcoming ipad, so smart :)) 0:34:45

  • awesome idea, but i have one critism, it seems like they were rreally dramatic :D lol

  • I bothered by the fact of what will happen on our libraries with so much books you can search on instead of the tablets where you can have so much in a touch of your finger.

  • Or u.might be jelous of apple

  • Lets say this apple made iphone in 2007 did they copid no they didnt.apple is magnificiant.had s2 so boring and slow

So I sold it for 100 pound in first week .apple are awsome.love my 4s

  • There's always a good and a bad sides of a company

  • thanks for the vid

  • Bravo Apple!

  • lol shanghai china on every single one, reading math and science, but US kicksass in sports and extracurricular things, The second that SOPA passes,. we become china

  • thats my school at 1:34. lol. i know that kid.

  • hey thats my school

  • Gimmick gimmick.... Totally gimmick...

  • Thanks jobs changing world and no one can replace you.your a legend .Will miss you loads .Samsung copycat Apple.Steve u also Said that.I beloved in you.rest in peace.thank you so much for products u made.sadley miss u.....Like this if you belive people if this true

  • @OfficialSushy Samsung doesn't copy cat Apple, THEY BOTH copycat each other. Apple is copying other companies ideas, and others copy others to make it better. THATS HOW PROGRESS IS MADE. Shut up, if you don't know anything.

  • @DarknesSoldier Copying is okay if you reach a balance between copying and own innovation, the way I see it, Samsung copies more than it creates, Apple is more creating than copying (though they still copy a lil bit)...So don't turn on That Sushy guy, he's been so kind and uploaded this video:)

  • @Thugserhat95 aaww.thanks.thats what im here for.Apple creates more things.Appl made the first Ipphone and it changed the worrld.Samsung cam eand id a copy of butit was Apple Legacy

  • He's still morning Steve :(

  • I love apple .just waiting for iphone5 comes out.hate other vompanies .i take my iPad to school my books ot bags.love it

  • Best idea but Samsung will say apple are copying pahahaha

  • @OfficialSushy I don't care who does it. This is something kids need now.. Seriously.. Apple has historically had a good relationship with schools, so we'll see how this turns out.

  • Can you imagine a playboy with this hahahahah

  • At our school a $150 graphing calculator is required. If apple steps up their game and makes apps for ALL of the schooldays,i could see this working.

  • I think this is an excellent idea, and we are definitely outdated when we are still using overpriced, heavy textbooks that instantly lost its value after one use.

however, when apple said "education has always been a big part of apple's DNA" and give less than 10% off for an education discount, sorry, not convinced.

when you know how financially challenged students are, i have hard time believing that they are really "pro-education".

  • The publishing tools looks great. Already downloaded!

  • @ShadowriverUB I think we are saying the same thing. I am responding to rahulbsb1's comment that microsoft n the Linux community doesn't innovate and only Apple innovates and implied that Apple has never played copycat. I'm just citing examples of innovation by others and also instances where being a copycat actually contributes greatly to the field by being able to refine what's being copied to the next level, ala what Blizzard does with it's games. iTunes acquired tech too but I love it still

  • Where are all those rich kids living ?

  • @rahulbsb1 Mac Os is based off GUI research done by Xerox which every OS followed. Microsoft's work on Surface computing is something I'd expected from apple but fact is Surface has Multi-touch gestures almost a full 2 years before Apple. I love Apple products but I find the online mudslinging really dumb. I wonder if you think Blizzard innovates games or not, cuz Blizzard's the best copycat in the world and like Apple is awesome at refining things close to perfection

  • @shaguar007 Surface was based on diffrent technology based on cameras, which was not possible on small devices,, what Apple introduced is capacitance touch-screen developed by Fingerworks which was later acquired by Apple, which was something new. You can say that acquired technologies don't count, but htings like that are normal for big corporations even for Google and MS. For example Kinect is also acquired technology originally developed by PrimeSense.

  • @BatistaR0X Yea.if They put hologram in both iPhone 5 and Ipad 3 it would be beset and shares for apple will go up hugely. But im working hard to get to Apple Inc soon after 4 years wait.I might be in apple. The Keynote of Ipad 3 will be in my channel.Stay tuned.

  • iPad 3 is coming soon

  • @BatistaR0X Yea.if They put hologram in both iPhone 5 and Ipad 3 it would be beset and shares for apple will go up hugely. But im working hard to get to Apple Inc soon after 4 years wait.I might be in apple. The Keynote of Ipad 3 will be in my channel.Stay tuned.

  • High school is not easy in America? Dude what the crap? You guys learn 0.2% of what we do. -.-

  • are textbooks in iBooks available outside the USA?

  • @Megaiamepic YEP

  • We dnt need to take Heavy bag take iPad and ibook app

  • I remember in high school, the second I got my driver's license, I started keeping all my textbooks in the trunk of my car. Those things were heavy ><

  • @blu4andor carrying 5kilos of books each day up a huge hill and yet i cant drive till 18 -.-''

  • i usually dont support apple products... but i really like this. they outdid themselves this time

  • Instead of applauding the innovations & positive things they're doing and progress being made, you negative posters bitch & moan when someone doesn't do something good & also when someone does.

There's no pleasing you because instead of contributing & creating anything yourself, your agenda is to just criticize and you sadly miss the point.

Apple & any company, should make money for innovations they come up with - even with education.

I'm excited for generations that will benefit from this.

  • @m1grandprix @BatistaR0X Yea.if They put hologram in both iPhone 5 and Ipad 3 it would be beset and shares for apple will go up hugely. But im working hard to get to Apple Inc soon after 4 years wait.I might be in apple. The Keynote of Ipad 3 will be in my channel.Stay tuned.

  • @m1grandprix I'm 100% with you! Those that bitch only because thye couldn't do anything worth a shit anyway.

  • @m1grandprix FINALLY some 1 with common sense

  • is the video playing for you?

  • damn i just realized that apple is trying to take over the world... i mean, just think about it.... all these kids are going to be exposed to Apple from the very first step they take into the classroom... and of course all of these kids in the educational system are going to want nothing, but Apple products as they grow up and in the rest of their lives. Haha smart move Apple. You have nothing, but smart people behind your company and for that i applaud you.

  • The culture at Apple is profit first, education second. Because of this culture, this technology is limited to proprietary devices. This is why Wikipedia is endlessly better, and hopefully an open textbook format will be adopted to work on anything with a screen.

  • @fibronium well why does profit conflicts with education.

If the products are great, people will buy.

  • @zealot8964 True; but many people appreciate the ability to read their books on devices other than iPad. Amazon for example allows Kindle to function across multiple platforms, yet they make money. Google Books works across multiple platforms and they make money. There is nothing special about the iPad that makes it indispensable; iBooks 2 could work on Android just fine. Apple is just being greedy as usual. All that FREE this and FREE that simply helps to prop up the reality distortion field.

  • @fibronium Could those platforms work well? The textbook creation software, the iBook store platform, the solid hardware and software platform they have developed? I cannot even deal with the lag those devices still have. Your explanation is distorted and does not make sense. What do you mean by greedy?

  • @bertocaster Greedy means creating technology for a single platform (perhaps the most expensive and hardware limited platform). If they were really interested in education, they could invest all their genius into creating an open-textbook format (i.e. some new technology analogous to say PDF with creation tools that run on Windows and Linux), which runs on mobile platforms with a given required screen resolution and CPU speed. They could even leave it up to Google to write the necessary app.

  • Well how about Microsoft and Linux org coming up with their own ideas? Well take it from me, they won't coz they just can't..Not that they are unable to, but bcoz they seriously lack the taste for doin' such stuff. They just don't get it. Speaking of  making money, dude tell me one company or corporation that doesn't.

  • @rahulbsb1 I can see MS doing that and they had eduction programs in the past as i remember, same as Apple :) but not Linux org, they just website about Linux, Linux is creation open-source communities in which many corporations and foundations are involved in, but i know there was programs that involve Linux, like that educational laptop computer program for 3rd world. Problem with Linux is fact that it's not much popular desktop OS, it only rules in server/networking and embedded devices

  • @fibronium hardware limited? ^^' it has everything needed to do ebook like that, iPad can do more then that. And they not that greedy, they released most of stuff showed here for free, only textbook is paid, but that's book publisher greediness, they paper format textbooks are paid too. And if you mean hardware cost.... go google about schools and universities giving out free iPads for there students, thats might be the reason why Apple actually doing this in first place.

  • i'm almost finished university and this makes me wish i was just starting!

  • I doubt iPads can be passed generation to generation with students for 5 years like books either and Id like to see real life images not just computerized animations.

But other than that its pretty good

  • @RollinOnDemDubz so you prefer a real picture in a stagnant book? ok.

  • @RollinOnDemDubz You could say the same about paper books XD

  • i think Phil shouldve been CEO

  • thanks u ;)

  • so When well we get this in high school!
