An easy way around assaulting that force ahead is carpet bombing them. Then the Spartans will come and you only lost 700 resources, rather than a bunch of men.

you obviously dont know what you are talking about deathtothenoobs all spartan II's had MJOLNIR power armor with shielding including these. master chief was also a spartan II. the spartan II program chose only the genetic cream of the cropp and trained them since 3 to 6 years of age. the spartan III PROGRAM was less selective and was meant for high risk high reward missions that involved suicidal asaualts. they have armor that has no shielding but a stealth capability like active camo.

@toplink you missed out at the age factor of the spartan II program. spartan IIs were mostly 6 years old and the reason why they didnt have a second batch was that there wasn't enough candidates to fit the gene and age pool. the spartan III program however was not that strict and had a wider age range
