  • I'm writing a French heist film, and this really helped out. Thank you. : )

  • Awesome video! Great information but is it just me... or are all the best youtube videos in really low quality :D

  • @chipburger101 The first 1-20 Writing A Great Script Fast In A Nutshell videos were uploaded in an older codec that had more compression in 2007. The new ones are using a cleaner one. The ones you buy on Amazon or at MyFlik com are very high resolution.

  • The overall information was good but, is it me or are the cutaways really random and off topic?!

  • @comp144 Well no not really. This video is all about show don't tell with dialogue if possible. The images of a mime troupe doing things on stage show how much you can say without using words. This workshop is over 22 hours long with over 12,000 cuts. If I am talking about character techniques, you will see characters of some sort on the screen in the background. If I am talking about plot, you will see events. So no the cutaways are not random, they are juxtapositions with universal ideas.

  • I don't know about that one. I mean what about Quentin Tarantinos movies, the reason his movies are so good, is because its tons of talking.

  • @TheeOneWhoTalks Yes you are right about this. I talk about it in the longer version. Tarantino is very good at pop culture dialogue and monologues. In the monologue section I talk about 5 different types, and how Reservoir Dogs uses all of them. Most people do not write dialogue as good as Tarantino. He has lots of extreme violence mixed in to break up the talking too. Film is visual. If you look at your top 10 favorite films, they will not all have talking heads every scene. Show don't tell.

  • @MyFlik1 Haha touche! You make a good point.

  • Oh...thank you for this. THis is the HARDEST DAMN THING about stories.
