adoribable pony but you should be a little more careful with your jumps. they're not that hard to make and it is just so much safer than useing old boards
STOP!!!! You are going to wreck a great pony, you're teaching him that he can crash through the jumps! Yes you might think this is great fun to watch but you could be riding over jumps not quite as high but clearing them! Also use jump boots or atleast splint boots, ever thought how much it would hurt running into a plank really fast? Well your pony's legs are bare!!! Also having the planks on the way you have them isn't very visible for the horse, hence he crashed through it! Good pony though!
Yea, he's good ... But if you put a rider on him then he deffo wouldn't be able to jump it and at the end of the day, to jump horses, you need to be on their backs ...
i dont see why you're getting hate for this? poor facilities? its a sand arena, with plastic jumps, he's not going to hurt himself, and if he didnt want to jump he'd refuse! sometimes i wonder if people realise what they're saying before they say it sometimes! he has some serious scope btw xxxxx
come on people leave her alone the pony is adorable and who cares if they use cones and planks which are way lighter than poles. If he had hit a wooden pole with his nose...!
proper equipment - yeh thats ok to say if its werent so frickin expensive! people seem to have to be totally rich to be able to do things these days without getting told off. nice improvisation, and the boards were loose and looked light so obvs couldnt have hurt him :) did he clear that 5ft jump completely?!?! thats amazing! and those saying u made him do it? hes doing it freestyle, if he didnt want to jump he would have refused. lovely pony, wanna give him to me? ;) jk xx
I'll admit, this is a great pony. But this is a terrible facility! If I were to do this, I would make sure to have proper equipment. I'm happy the horse was safe.
He has pretty great form over most of these jumps!
Some people only wish their 18 hand warmbloods could do that!
Size really doesnt matter- its the horse's safety and ability that counts. And as for free jumping- if he didn't want to do it it would never happen. He seems perfectly content, and very beautiful :)
for ancestral and instinctual reasons, horses are able to jump very high from a standstill. It is hell on their bodies, but being extremely sore for a few days is better than being dead. This is not something completely outrageous to ask of a pony to jump this high, as i doubt that he jumps this high every day. awesome and adorable pony!!
Please just be careful with your pony. Though horses and ponies do not always get hurt, they very easily can even when they are going willingly over jumps. Grand Prix riders do not school their top horses over jumps that high on a regular basis. Maybe once a week to tune them up, but other than that those horses jump 3' or 3'6. I am sure you care about your pony and do not want him to be hurt by jumping his legs off.
that is amazing! that pony sure can jump! and to everyone else, yeah sure it was not the most elegant jump! but he still cleared it! and i doubt they do it often, it was probably just a one off thing! and it does not matter that they don't have the right equipment but at least there using what they have! if the pony could not do it, he wouldn't! he cleared it! that is amazing well done! cute pony!
Haha this is like when i was free jumping my horse last week he kept knocking the jump then he refused it so i asked him to walk away from it as he was turned away from the jump already and he decided to turn towards the jump and jump it from a stand still and cleared it perfectly XD striding was right and everything for the non stand still jumps too
To be honest, this video isn't so amazing, we didn't actually see him jump a big jump and keep it standing, and half of the standstill pictures looked like he would knock it down anyway.
What is wrong with these jumps? i use these kind of jumps! I see no 'danger' using them! They knock off! how are they dangerous?!
the pony quite clearly was 13.2hh, why would they lie?! and it seemed to have no problem with the height of the jump, so really its none of your business.
Yes it is 5 foot, they dont lie for fun
Honestly, even the stupidest people wouldnt make their horse jump from a standstill, so they clearly didnt.
Cute pony but Im afraid he's not collected over those jumps, keep pushing him like that and you're going to blow out a tendon and if this is how you've been working with him since 2009 i would be shocked to hear he's still sound.
it doesn't matter what you use for jumps as long as the pole doesn't get stuck and falls when something hits it.... i use similar things for jumping and it works just fine:)x
you shouldnt be jumping him that high its really dangerous and those 'jumping poles' you were using werent very safe maby u should get or make some proper ones
he's good at jumping-do you like my 13.2hh coloured mare(she is 10 years old) and she has jumped 1.40 ( 4.6ft) but I have only got a picture of her jumped 1.10 on youtube I can't remember which video that was in though but he looked like he was jumping around .15 which is nearly 4ft!
i think you should get some real poles and standers that if you dont a pony is going to get hurt and sometimes you cant recover a horse so PLEASE JUST GET SOME REAL POLES AND STANDERS A HORSE IS GOING TO GET HURT
not trying to be mean but im doing it for the best of the ponys
thats mean! If you don't have the proper jumps...you should not jump that pony! That is mean that the board hits him in the nose...that makes him scared to jump, thinking something will hit him in the face! Next time don't abuse your animal for a laugh or a good time.
thats awesome!! :) just ignore everyone else! sure some proper equipment would be good, but not everyone is a rich snob that gets what ever they want! i say use what you've got!
@quinntqt being rich does not make you a snob :l not saying that the people who said you shouldn't use this are right, use what you've got, but just because you have money and can afford what you want doesn't make you a snob.
@MisticBlue52 yeah some people can't afford that and dont know how to build jumps, the horse isn't gonna die from what he is jumping over, obviously their make shift jumps aren't that bad, the horse can knock them down, he even knocked one of them down with his nose.
@MisticBlue52 Yeah, and maybe they should, but honestly i don't think its any of your business, if you don't like the way someone is training their horse, don't watch the video about it, and then you wont have to worry about it :)
Someone agree. no not everyone can afford fancy jump standards and poles i mean heck i cant but i got some lumbar and built proper jump standards and bought cheap, safe, pvc pipes for poles, so it can be cheap to do it just need time to invest which is worth safety
Your going to turn him sour on jumps if you keep putting them out of range and allowing him to hit them like that! Consistently smacking them down will wail at his confidence and you will soon have trouble and resistance! Not to mention 13.2h ponies where certainly not made to jump 5' fences.. they are horses, not deer! Good luck with his joints.
@robynqq555 - you are not being fair to the pony - give him proper jumps, equipment to work with. You obviously have a very great deal to learn and are not accomplished horse people. You are pushing the pony because he obviously CANNOT do the height you are asking him but YOU keep asking him again and again. Take some lessons yourself and grow up !!!!
iv to grow up, thats rich coming from the person starting an argument. this was 2 years ago! i stoped going to that yard about 1and a half years ago. I do agree, there should of been better jumps but i was only videoing ha! so maybe you should stop criting people uh?
@617bw just because u dont have excellent equipment to work with does not mean these people are not accomplished, in your head clearly people with top of the line equipments and push button ponies are accomplishes then u really dont know what your talkin about :(
@XOXLeanneRXOX - Read the other comments - what people are saying is use proper equipment - round poles and ground lines to jump the pony - everyone is trying to look after the pony's safety. Round poles cost very little compared to an injury to the horse - use your common sense before making stupid comments.
@macnchaz I agree, it looks like an accident waiting to happen. You can build some jump standards quite cheaply. I would just hate to see a broken leg or something. Not worth it in my opinion.
