whats sad is that this show is now on MTV in america...it only shows at like 11 pm and u have to enter ur birthday on the site to even watch it...so its not available to many people and its also been turned into what i call "a major suck fest" cause the actors personally seem less "skilled" than the british actors on the original show
OKAY IT LOOKS LIKE WHICH EVER SKINS PPL SEEN FIRST THATS THE ONE THEY LIKE THE MOST!.. SOOO YALL CAN SEE IF U LIVE IN THE US UR GOING 2 SEE THE US ONE FIRST AND BEC ITS FROM THE US UR GOING 2 LIKE IT BETTER THAN THE UK ONE!! AND THATS THE SAME WAY 4 THE UK PPL....AND I DONT GIVE A CAN WHICH SKINS IS BETTER!
I completely agree with you, it's like the American version is trying to potray the same down to earth vibe but they come across like they're trying way too hard. It just dosen't work,
one major diference it's that and american season use to be twice as long than a british one (10-15 episodes vs 20-25), that causes that in a sengle chapter on skins SHIT HAPPENS, and if it didnt happened it beacause they wanted it that way, in american shows it thend to be more stuffing with pontiless moments, and it happens on every episode, and stuffing is boring
Im from the UK and I disagree with your review I mean I've watched both skins and 90210 and the both deal with hard hitting issues I just think the delivery is different. With British tv there's more realism and grit it isn't as glossy and not every episode will come with a PSA warning or a happing ending and a quick fix. However I do love both UK and US tv.
you really can't critique American television because you certain amount of programs from over here, just like i can't really say too much about about uk programs because i don't watch any. Everyone thats leaving comments is basically judging US shows off 5 different television programs, which is dumb because the US you can get thousands of channels if you have satellite. Not trying to sound racist but i'm black, so i don't really watch shows like gossip girl & 90210, because i don't like them
I see what you saying, but I think the argument here is specifically about the different approaches taken in doing teenage dramas in both the US and the UK. In the US, the primary teen dramas are the ones on the CW network, so that is why they are being used. American has great shows, but when it comes to teen - young adult drama we do fall short, more often than not. The only show that can compare to Skins right now is Friday Night lights, and it struggled to stay alive.
American shows are only good if they're NOT about teenagers. Well, actually, Buffy one of my favourite shows ever. But, other than that I have no time for, like, 90210 or any of that bollocks. Glee makes me want to vomit.
