I got that bass in black. I didn't like the pbass neck so i put a jazz bass neck on it. Love that thing. great cover, I play it differently but it sounds really good (i play the first couple notes of the verse on the g and d string instead of the a and d strings, makes it sound a little nicer
good cover, i think the chorus is low E, not the octave, but its the same difference, so it doesnt really matter. good stuff. how'd you record the bass amp? mic or is that just how the camera recorded it?
Anyone who needs the tabs to this should just give up playing the bass and get a tambourine or a kazoo. You can clearly see what he's doing in the video. Its just roots and 5ths, not some blazing guitar solo where the guitarists fingers are flying all over the place.
Please check out our channel and add us and sub us, we are a band working on a cover of this song :) Your help and support will be greatly appreciated!
hey for anyone who actually gives a rats arse i've rescently set up this bass covers account, no there arnt any covers on at the moment but i've been playing for 3 years and i would love it if you could visit my profile and subscribe and maybe leave a song suggestion in the comments section, thanks :)
if people listen to charts songs, even there the bass sticks to the root notes, sometimes root and fifth or a few small fills. Bass and drums go hand in hand but what the guitar plays is often simplified by the bass
Great cover dude. but some of these comments are retarded. I play bass in a pop punk band, and even though I'm not that good at it, i play a bit of guitar. And if you look back to where punk comes from (ramones, stooges, dead boys, sex pistols) you'll find that a song usually concists of around four power chords, each being played eight times, and the bass mirrors the rythm guitar. And the same goes for pop punk and modern pop music
@jaydentyau Thats completely stupid guitar and bass do match in alot of songs take buck rogers by feeder the bass mirrors the root chords on the guitar and in lots of songs unless you wanna go check every song in the world and give me some proof you can't say that fact is true
@XtReMeTrIpLeX while some others here and there may do it that is not the point of the bass, the bass is more closely related to drums then guitar, its to help the other instraments stay on rhythm, not to be a leader like the guitar or piano
@jaydentyau tell that to les claypool, victor wooten, jaco pastorus, mike watt, cliff burton, billy sheehan, or any other lead bass player.
What you're saying does ring true for typical band set-ups, but to be perfectly honest, there is no point of what any instrument should or shouldn't do.
Music is a means of creative expressionism, and however that comes accross isn't right or wrong, it is down to the musician, and what they create.
@Kakarotz never said it was wrong, its like playing bongos with drumsticks, u could not there is anything wrong with it, but thats not how it was supposed to be played
@jaydentyau You're talking about two different things; playing the bongo's with drumsticks isn't directly relatable to your statement about the "point" of the bass.
If anything, the bass is more closely related to the double bass, which (as it was actually originally designed to be played) was to add a greater depth to the harmonic range in a symphony or string orchestra. Using bass rhythmicaly comes from jazz, which is a musical style not a design idea.
@jaydentyau Other than being tuned to the same pitches as a double bass, a transposing instrument - being notated in bass clef an octave higher than it sounds (like the double bass) - having four strings, and is extremely well known to have "replaced" the double bass as the bass instrument in the archetypal rhythm section since the 50's, in fact one of the reasons the electric bass was invented was because mic-ing a double bass is hard!
But other than that, no, double bass is totally different.

hey, youre fucking up the verse. your stroke pattern is off entirely he doesnt play down strokes only- he plays up and its one beat extra per bass line per half measure jack ass
