Let's look at the techniques and then imagine a situation where they wouldn't work. Once we've done that we can safely never bother learning the subtleties of seven or eight generations of diligent practice by daily combateers because we saw Jackie Chan on T.V once and that means we are masters. YAY
@kmfdm543 on the street people don't punch, stop and wait, when they punch and you grab they keep moving and struggling making it hard to complete you defense techniques so i agree with you about the street roughness.
我学习中文. It can help when you are learning Chinese martial arts. But it is not necessary to be fluent. The most important thing is to practise, research, and understand your teacher.
@taijiman7777 Good point! Does knowing the Full meaning of Tai Ji possitions help in the understanding of the movements themselfs? For instance; Repulse the Monkey must mean more if you had an understanind of Chinese culture and language.
I thought LSY was more of a "kuai" jiao guy as opposed to schuai jiao? I saw a video where he said kuai jiao is much faster, tap, tap, tap throw. Whereas schuaijiao was more tap, lock, lock, throw.
"Shuaijiao is not a style or system by itself. All Chinese martial arts use shuaijiao techniques. Master Liang has written three books on relating to suaijiao. One is "Chinese Fast Wrestling for Fighting (the art of San Shou Kuai Jiao)", the second is Xiaoyaoshuai (Wuji system takedowns) and the third is about traditional shuaijiao techniques. I don't know whether the 3rd book is published yet. He has also written about taijiquan, xingyiquan, baguazhang, and qigong.
Umm. Excuse me, but Shuaijiao IS its own system by itself. For someone who seems so familiar with Mr Liang's work, you should know this. All Chinese systems do use shuai fa (throwing methods), but Shuaijiao is the oldest gongfu system.
Its Chin Na that is not a system by itself. Cheers.
Thanks for the clarification. I should have said "shuaijiao isn't just a style by itself." Most martial arts use shuaijiao 摔交 (摔跤) methods, just as they do Qinna 擒拿 (seize & control), and tida 踢打 (kicking & punching). Shuaijiao is a general term for wrestling of which there are at least 4 regional styles in China alone. Every culture in the World has some form of shuaijiao. Kuaijiao (快跤) refers to a particular type of shuaijiao technique.
Yess indeed. I don't know if I was dehydrated or tired or just didn't know any better back then. But I was certainly not tucking my chin the way I should have in this video. At one point you can hear my head hit the floor. "Thankyou for the iron head training, Liang Shirfu."

@kmfdm543 Technique isn't about looking sexy, man. It's about beating your opponent. That being said sexy techniques impress the ladies.

@taijiman7777 Chinese characters also have hidden meanings, if you can find them. I'll give you a clue, it's in their stroke pattern ;)
