Funny how you can tell a Motoi Sakuraba song once you've heard enough of them. But you can't NOT hear a Motoi Sakuraba song, as he is not a man, but a being of pure epic, and the songs we hear are toned down versions of the originals he makes, because obviously the original forms would make our ears explode because we can't comprehend the pure awesome.

The probable cause of my drooling over hearing most of Sakuraba's works is likely that I grew up playing Tales of Symphonia. And I do agree that Sakuraba isn't the best there is, as I prefer Motoo Fujiwara and Keiki Kobayashi.

@DrolKeegEht Well, I only played Tales of Symphonia for the first time a little over a year ago. But Tales of the Abyss is one of my favorite RPGs ever, but I still don't think he's amazing. He -is- a good composer, but he's not -god-. Personally, I prefer Go Shiina, Daisuke Ishiwatari, and Falcom Sound Team's many composers.

Yeah, his voice actor tries just a leeeetle too hard to sound insane. ;) Sounds a little bit like he's deflating actually! The voicing in Baten Kaitos just makes the game better, IMO. In Smash bros Brawl? Sonic really is hard to control, honestly if you think you're good with sonic you're probably wrong. As for Mario he's a very balanced character, perfect for beginners. He's also like my 3rd best. Overall, Mario is better than Sonic.

Battlewise, Mario is definitely EASIER to use. For experienced players, I can't say that he's BETTER - it's all a matter of personal preference.

Character-wise, I've never liked Mario, and I've loved Sonic since childhood. Sonic WAS my childhood. So, character-wise, Sonic kicks Mario's sorry ass. Link, however, could definitely protect Nintendo's pride and give Sonic a run (no pun intended) for his money.

Actually, Eternal Sonata sounds a lot like THIS, because this came first. It's because he reuses like base themes and stuff in his music. He's criticized for it, but I don't really mind. Though, definitely, this and Tales of Symphonia are his two best works for music, I think. The most original.

Kyuuketsuki, you have a very good point, Sakuraba is so familier that we can to some extent expect what his songs will sound like. Sorta like Farmer Alminac for it's looks, it stayed the same for... HOW long, over 80 years I think, and Mr. Motoi "God" Sakuraba is just like that, so familier you can guess with high accuracy what his next battle theme will be, next intro, next Boss theme, next final boss theme, next credit song, And all that is why I LOVE him and his work!

The battle system of Origins is a little less satisfying, but faster paced. Rather than using the magna essence of a particular sword for one strike, you temporarily equip it for as many hits as it can take. Also, the voice acting in Origins is noticeably better. I have yet to hear anyone act as cheesy as Xelha or Lyude.
