  • He looks like the kid from "weeds" Alexander Gould

  • @nervousnotebooks I know, and even more so now that a few years have gone by!

  • f uck you with your video

  • @syedmastanshah thank you for your intelligent and constructive comment. I'm sure your other comments and the way you live your life are just the same - thoughtful and meaningful.

  • Ctrl-J is waaaaaay faster than dragging the layer to the create new layer button each time. Use keyboard shortcuts!!

  • @ashlillings This is a tutorial for beginners. I mean really basic beginners. Comment noted. Also, when you start mentioning keyboard shortcuts you have to do it for PC users and then MAC users - not into that.

  • Amazing! Thank you!

  • this solved my problem on the under exposed graduation pictures that i just took . thank you for posting this. very easy to do.

  • Do you have a video on how to lighten up a dark video?

  • @Leslieboardman most video editing programs have a way to do this like premier or whatever one you are using.

  • I FOUND ONE OF ME SON..LOL

  • thx

  • how to get less lightness from photo?

  • @truelove929753 Option 1: Lower the top layer opacity or delete a layer. Option 2: Merge all the layers down except for the original background layer. So you have the lightened layer and the original layer left. Take the ERASER TOOL and change the opacity to 10% or less using a large brush and then just lightly erase where you want it to be darker. For instance, my mother would have liked me to do that on the now non existant jaw line on the right.

  • i'm just learning cs3 will this increase the size of the photo though? what do you do to save it without compromising photo size and quality?

  • @nytwuolfe It won't increase the size of the photo if you merge down the layers (go to LAYERS then MERGE LAYERS). I always save as a TIFF or PSD first then if I want a smaller a file I save it as a JPEG.

  • Wow that was so easy and it works. Thanks a million:)

  • is this feature available in CS or PSE8?

  • @eastsaintlouis62203 I know it's available in CS3, CS4 and CS5. I think it would be in all the editions of photoshop. If you go to the layer options: normal, multiply, lighten, darken, etc... screen should be there.

  • dayumzz. imma starterr; & this was so helpful:)

  • ferry good thanks

  • For all the haters out there, lynda.com recently came out with a CS5 tutorial: "Improving underexposure using blending". It's all about the screen blending mode to brighten dark photos.

  • Please do leave comments about what a waste of time this was for you to view (really, it's only 1:53 in the scheme of things and you must be about 10 years old if that is your attention span). This is meant as a SUPER EASY, QUICK and DIRTY way to experiment with layers and the screen mode to salvage a photograph.

  • Thank you so much for this tut!!!!

  • I was worried it only worked on this photo, but I've tried it many times on others, and I've been happy with the results!

  • Wow that was great and easy, thank you so much for the great tut.
